Abigail Miller

"I could never lead. Those who lead must be willing to choose who lives... and who doesn't"

a character in “The King's Gambit”, as played by Planter777

Description

Name (Nickname): Abby (short for Abigail)
Age: Fifteen
Gender Female
Side & Role: White Rook

Personality Abby is a follower rather than a leader. She will avoid confrontation whenever possible and usually doesn't call attention to herself. While she is highly intelligent she is also very gullible and will believe almost anything she's told, mostly because she prefers to believe them and can't see why anyone would bother lying to her at all. Abby is trusting, kind, loyal. and lacking in self confidence. While her social skills are sub-par she still enjoys spending time with others. Her conversations with other nearly always start with them speaking to her, though she is more than happy to speak to them once they've started the conversation. Abigail prefers to see the good in people and would ideally be friends with everyone if given the choice.

She has displayed the ability to deal with a simply ludicrous amount of rudeness from someone, seemingly ignoring any insults thrown her way in hopes that they will either lose interest and go away or stop and move on with the conversation. As patient as she may be with others, and she is very patient, everyone has their breaking point and Abby is no exception. If put under enough stress for a long period of time she will eventually retaliate, verbally dismantling the offending party for up to an hour, before calming down again. She seems to have a habit of playing with a pen, spinning it, flipping it, and tossing it from hand to hand with surprising dexterity and carries the pen around in her pocket when it is not in use. Also just because she is easily manipulated does not mean that she is unaware of it.

Appearance: Image She typically wears a pair of jeans accompanied by a t-shirt.

History: Include why they were kidnapped, in the first place. Not really that much to tell. Her life up till this point has been fairly normal, with a few exceptions. She went to school, got good grades, made friends (well, acquaintances), and all that stuff. Nevertheless there are still a few noteworthy things. When she was five it was discovered that Abigail had Congenital insensitivity to pain, meaning that she is completely unable to feel pain, as a result her family has been a bit overprotective and she herself has been a little overly cautious as, if she got a cut or broke her arm, she wouldn't be able to feel it and therefore might not know. She had had this condition beforehand, they just didn't know until she fell and cut herself on a piece of glass and didn't notice until her mother pointed it out. Abby's family used to move a lot due to her father's job, unfortunately this meant that in school she was perpetually the new kid. Deciding that actively trying to improve interactions with people that she would only end up seeing for several months was a waste of everyone's time, she turned instead to books which existed everywhere. That isn't to say Abby was unsocial. She didn't make any active attempts at friendship but she still accepted any that she did receive.

While she's read several books on chess and played a few games Abigail is no expert on the subject, she knows how all the pieces can move in addition to a few basic stratagems but that's about it. All that she knows about chess was learned from her older brother Kyle who is her best friend as of the moment despite being seven years older. He is now in college studying to be an astrophysicist which has been his dream since he was five. A few days prior to the kidnapping Abigail and her parents were in a car accident that put them both in the hospital and gave her a large gash on her left side and she has been told to be careful or the wound could reopen. She has been staying with her brother until their parents recover but has spoken to them on the phone every day. On a completely unrelated note she learned to play the piano at a young age and now can play nearly anything by ear. Most likely the reason she was targeted would be her trusting nature making her any easy target and with her parents in the hospital now would be the opportune moment. Abby remembers very little about the actual kidnapping.
