Growling shouts escaped from the vampire as he was grabbed and slammed into the ground. Pain erupted from his throat as his leg was torn off. Alek laid there, panting and giggling to himself and writhing in pain. Madness had taken over him now and he watched the werewolf circle around him, those yellow eyes piercing the darkness of his soul as well. Yet, he showed no fear.

Alek knew his escape was impossible now. Even if he could get the cuffs off, he would have to drain every drop of Bowen's blood just to regenerate his leg. This was an impossible task. Still, he tried to scoot away with his remaining leg, pushing himself slowly away from where he laid.

He continued to giggle until he looked up and hidden away in the trees above he spotted something. Tears welled up in his eyes and once again he spoke up in the ancient tongue. "Forgive me.." He whispered, barely audible. Bowen would feel another pair of eyes upon him too, although nothing moved against him.

Bowen stepped back over to the vampire, turned him so that his arms were pinned against him and between his body and the ground. His claws punctured his lungs as his torso was torn. Weight was applied to pin Alek and he was pressed into the ground. Ribs would snap. Teeth like white dagger clamped down on the vampire's right ankle. With a quick shake the ankle was tore off and spat back at Alek. The foot would bounce off the back of his head and lay oozing blood next to his face.

He then twisted the right leg slowly, snapping it sideways. The joint was then bent backwards, the kneecap separating and the splintered joint completely dislocating. His teeth wrapped around the mangled joint and with yank and a quick shake his right leg was torn off so that he now matched. The limb was placed near Alek's head. Alek was being torn apart, piece by piece and as each piece was removed it was presented back to him.

Alek cried in rasping breaths. Blood entered his lungs and he gargled on it as he gasped for breath. He could not longer scream. Pained welled up in him, and Alek pulled at the cuffs underneath the weight of them being held down in desperation. Bowen would feel him struggle beneath him, but all resistance was futile. He felt the need to feed. He was losing so much blood, he was nearly starved. And his regeneration had nearly stopped completely.

But all he could do was stare up into the trees above. Even when his limbs were ripped off and tossed back to him, even as he felt the life draining from his body, all he could do was stare towards the sky at this point. Memories of a bygone age flooded back to him and the tears burned hot on his cheeks.

"This.. Is.. Nothing.." Alek spat out at Bowen in choked whispers.

Bone twisted and muscle contorted again. Bowen shrunk ever so slightly but still he was huge. A great wolf, the size of a prehistoric animal, the mac tíre padded forward. Bowen's jaws were even larger in this form but he lacked hands. Now he could think. Now the rage was tempered.

He placed one huge padded paw upon Alek's chest now that Alek was looking to the canopy. The vampire's cuffed hands were below this paw. Bowen's maw opened and engulfed Alek's head at either side. Death was about to claim the vampire. The jaws clamped down, pushing razor sharp incisors into his skull. Bowen then shook back and forth violently, tearing Alek's head free of his torso at the neck. He let the head fall from his jaws and then growled at it. A few short seconds later and Alek would be truly dead. Often a head cut from a body in their day and age would be hefted to view the body upon which it had previously sat. The last thing Alek would see would be the hulking form of the mac tíre and Bowen's yellow eyes piercing through the darkness.

Alek gargled as the life fell from his body and finally laid still.

Moments later, a soft 'thump' hit the ground behind Bowen. If he turned around, he would find a woman rising slowly from her crouched position from where she had landed. Her lips were held perfectly even, as if threatening to either frown or scowl, or break the darkness with a smile. Her hair was the color of honey and eyes as blue as a skies.

But Bowen would find she was no vampire. "Despite the wrongs the monster has done.." She spoke in the same dialect as Alek had before, her accent just as thick from where Alek hailed from. "... Alek the man deserves a proper burning." She looked over at Bowen, her blue eyes glowing slightly in the darkness.

He did turn and growl. Bowen had no hands and he could not breath fire so he would find it quite difficult to build a pyre and burn Alek's corpse. Bowen did not feel as if Alek deserved even the funeral rites of old and would have cursed the vampire if he had not been under the impression that curses rebound three fold. If this woman wanted to offer Alek rites and burn the corpse upon a pyre she would have to do it herself.

Bowen growled, backed away, and sat like a sentinel with bristling black fur stained red not terribly far away. He could smell her above the blood. She was a werewolf but he could detect no pack scent on her, just the smell of the wood and the deep wilds.

She bowed her head slightly and walked over to the remaining parts of Alek. "Don't growl at me like that.." She said quietly. "If only you knew.." She whispered. She gathered the bloody parts and piled them together. She frowned at the cuffs but did not bother. "Alek was once ambitious.. A kind and gentle soul. He killed for justice, not for vengeance. He hoped to have one day, that we would all live united, and there would be no more strife between the people." She explained. "Despite his past, he held no hate for anyone. But.."

Her eyes grew distant. "He met someone. Fell in love with her.." Her lips fell into a frown. "He had risen within the ranks of the Church, and they had plans.. Dark, terrible plans.. The woman was told that if she did not leave, he would be killed. And so.. Out of love for him.. She left him behind, the Church feeding him lies that the master Vampire had taken her."

She lifted her hand, runes lighting up in the air as Alek's body caught on fire.

"That girl was silly enough to believe his duty to the church was more important than her. And by the time she had realized their plans, Alek was no longer a man, but a monster seeking revenge for her supposed death.."

He could not speak but he thought about her words and brooded over them as she prepared the pyre. 'If only I knew? Surely you jest. There always has been and always will be strife as long as the people are diverse. It is the nature of the world. It is the diversity that builds strength for without trial there can be no perseverance, and without perseverance there can be no character, and without character there can be no hope for the people. It is the double edged sword of life. His ideas were foolish.' He shifted his weight forward but then backed down onto his haunches. Perhaps he had shared the hope of peace and a united people lacking strife when he was young and naive. He had long since realized that this was just a dream. This had happened long before he was bitten when he was Sophia's age.

He stood on four legs and paced as the fire burned. 'He had long since shed any remnant of a kind or gentle soul. His faith had been twisted. Circumstance does not make the guilty innocent of their own choices. I guess your name she-wolf. You are Abby.', he thought. If she was Alek's love so many years ago then he was in the presence of a werewolf even older than him, a first for Bowen. She was more than one-hundred years his senior and she apparently possed magic of some kind. Bowen was on guard.

"I know." She said, as if she had heard his very thoughts. "He is long gone. But I never had a chance to say good bye." She turned to Bowen as the fire sizzled on quickly and soon Alek's body was turned to ash. "Thank you, for providing me that one leisure." She smiled softly at him. "Would you mind if I ran with you for a while? I have nothing to do this evening.. And I don't think you're ready to return to the city..." Her eyes began to glow brightly, becoming bright blue orbs in the night. "But if you do not wish it.. Then I can understand it."

Bones popped and creaked as she swiftly shifted into a massive white and silver wolf. She looked like a ghost in the fog, her blue hues glowing in the darkness of the night.

But Bowen would already feel as if he knew her.

She shifted. Her massive white and silver body caught the crescent moon's light, a ghost in the fog. Her blue orbs shone in the darkness. The world bled. He felt the hilt of a sword gripped in his right hand and the weight of a shield on his left arm. The armor and padding pressed his shoulders down. His men, his knights were screaming. The monsters were killing his loyal men. He hacked at one. The great silver beast turned on him, the horse panicked, spun him, and the wolf's massive maw clamped down on his shoulder. His horse faltered under the beast's weight and he fell. He was screaming as the monster shook him and threw him in the salt water.

The forest returned to focus. He yelped as if his tail had been lopped off. 'You...' He whined as if he had been gravely injured and backed away from her. Ooh how the tables had turned. Now he was in a similar position to the one that Alek had detailed before he had slain him. It goes to show that perhaps there is no true evil and no true good in the world. There are only those who feel justified in their actions and those that are driven to madness through circumstance. There is no deed that goes unpunished. This was the wolf that had bitten him so long ago. He was sure of it. He backed away in fear and confusion. 'You!'

She stood tall in front of him, her eyes following as he backed away in his panic. She almost looked stoic, the stuff legends of old were made from when humans roamed the world ignorant of the things that lived in it with them. An age long gone.

She slowly made her way towards him, silent as the ghost she appeared to be despite her massive size. She would try to catch up to him, to stand over him, her eyes gazing into his with an unreadable stare. She was exactly as she had been all those years ago, except the wild in her eyes were long gone. Still, her eyes bore into him as if she were gazing into his very soul.

He continued to back away and once she stood over him he lowered his head. His ears pressed flat against his head and he snarled terribly. His tail was tucked firmly between his legs. The muscles of his shoulders bunched and his fur bristled like iron spines. His coat of fur was just as dark as hers was brilliant. 'Get away from me!' He was no less massive than her but he appeared to have diminished as he tried to shrink away while she had grown larger as she stood over him and stared down. Animal instincts and the natural reactions of their bodies took effects to cause this.

She appeared to be asserting her dominance over him. She pressed him back and down with her proximity and so he lashed out with bared teeth in a feint to push her back and warn her. He managed to get his feet under him and rose, snarling again. In truth he had no idea how he should treat her. He had never really looked for her. He thought she was dead so he never really held a grudge against her. Now that he found she was alive his emotions tangled his heart and head into a unmanageable knot. He was not sure he wanted revenge but he knew that he did not like her posture or proximity.

Still she stood, her ears erect. She did not seem to be taking his warnings seriously, but at the same time the air around her was tense. She did not seem aggressive against him, but then again she did not stand down or back away. It was almost as if she knew that she was the dominate one here.

And suddenly she snorted. Bowen could almost hear the same tone she had carried when he had growled at her. 'Don't growl at me like that...' And suddenly, she seemed to look at him as if he were not but a child to her.

A child throwing a tantrum.

The initial shock of his realization dwindled and he stood taller. His posture grew and his fur bristled, black as coal. He now stood completely erect and just as tall as her except his ears lay flat. He wore a terrible scowl, those bright white fangs stood stark against his raven mantle and muzzle. 'Back off bitch. I am not in the mood for this.', he thought as his muzzle wrinkled. His thick tail was held flagged, waving it stiffly and slowly back and forth. His weight was centered forward now, over those massive front paws.

He really didn't want to fight her but he would if she continued this. He had no beef with her and had long since dismissed her role in his life. That did not mean he took kindly to subjection. He was a dominate male and would defend his pride if she kept pushing.

Her muzzle pulled back to reveal her own white fangs. A deep rumble of warning started in her throat. She stood stock still, refusing to back down.

She had always been a lone wolf. Why would she back off from one who was still under blood lust? She had no clue who he was or what significant role she had played in his life. All she had wanted was to run with another wolf for the first time in a very long time. 'Pup, you better back down...'

Unfettered will fare the Fenris Wolf
and ravaged the realm of men,
ere that cometh a kingly prince
as good, to stand in his stead.

'Back off bitch....' Her rumble of warning was punctuated with a grisly snarl that sounded like thunder from him. He was not backing down and he was thinking perfectly clear. Her growl was joined by his, a slightly deeper rumble. This was martial foreplay. If one did not back down then there would be a fight fitting the true offspring of Fenrir.

The white wolf refused to back down. Her warning growls turned to threats, matching in ferocity as his.

The wild spark in her eyes lit up and she snapped her jaws in one final warning to back off. 'You will back down....' She didn't wait for him this time. She lunged towards him grabbing for the fatty skin around his neck, aiming to flip him on to his side swiftly.

His fur bunched like coiled iron chain in her mouth and he went with her tug, bending his neck and attempting to clamp down low on her neck closer to her shoulder as he could not bite higher with her hold. He went to his side willingly if he he achieved his bite as she had achieved hers and would roll while trashing to shred fur and muscle until he was on top.

Dirt sprayed, small saplings were shorn over as they tussled and rolled, snapping trucks as big around as a man's thigh with their combined weight and strength. Giant paws with sharp nails battled for soft bellies as he attempted to defend his genitals from her hind legs.

She bit down hard into his flesh, and locked her jaw as soon as he grabbed her own. Tussling with him, she shook her head trying to rip him off her own neck.

She raked her claws of both the fronts and backs across his under belly. She had to get on top. Once there, she would be able to lock her jaws around his throat and hold him down.

She would not let him best her or stay on top for even a second.

Her blood filled his mouth even has his filled hers. He rolled her and she twisted her body to gain her footing. He stopped shaking and barreled forward to push her down and to the bark of an old oak that was behind her. In the tussle she had scratched up his chest and inner thighs. Bowen returned the favor and they both bled from shallow cuts across their under-bellies. Both their fur tinged red as they battled for a better grip and position. His front leg curled up to trip her and force her back to the ground.

He had never known magic. He had always been the warrior. His thick, dense coat blunted even her teeth which were as long as daggers pushing into his flesh with crushing force.
