A wise man once said that those who do not learn from history, are doomed to repeat it. Many no loger believe such a thing. Then again, many have not met the one who controls history.
Anu is calm and calculating, having lived to see stars and planets die and be born again. Anu cares for every creature, large or small, but that does not exclude them from his wrath should they cross him. He is respectful, despite his uncountable age, and strives to befriend those creatures that interest him. Anu tends to stay out of many situations, preferring the role of spectator rather than the spot of action.
Anu carries nothing on his person aside from a great tome, bound in leather. This tome is aways around the being in some manner or another, whether it be floating about his person, or simply in his hands, the book itself never leaves his presence. Inside it, Anu records the history of the multiverse, as he is destined to do for all eternity. On the very unlikely event that Anu is attacked and in serious danger of falling to his opponent, he may use the book to conjure up anything previously recorded in the history of existence, from natural disasters to ancient and legendary weapons, and even the warriors that wielded them.
Of course, if the tome is taken from Anu, his status as an immortal will also go with him, and he shall experience the many deaths he should have served at the hands of time. And thus, the power of the book shall transfer to the next owner, and so on.
In the begging of time, the God of Gods created the many forms of existence, and the lands and realms in which they live. Afterwords, he looked down upon the beings and knew that they needed an ultimate force to watch over them whist he went about creating. Thus, he looked upon the many creatures of the mutiverse and found two brothers, Anu and Rastil'uk. The two brothers lived a rather quaint life as scholars, studying the land and its' creatures and recording them for the benefit of their world. On this day, the two were debating over a a creature they had found, a lowly slug. They continued to argue with one another as the God of Gods made himself known. When the brothers finally noticed him, they turned to him, silent in his infinitesimal presence. The God of Gods presented the brothers with a challenge then. "You debate upon this lowly slug, and so I shall grant you the chance to change it as you see fit, decide upon how you shall better this creature, and I shall make it so."
After several days of thought, the brothers returned to the God of Gods, each presenting his own change. Rastil'uk, being the more powerful and violent of the two believed that the slug should be coated in a thick and poisonous slime, so that it may kill the predators that prey upon it. And Anu, being the wiser and more defensive of the two, believed that the slug should be equipped with a thick shell, so that it may defend itself from it's enemies. as promised, the God of Gods made it so, and presented the two with their new slugs. "Now we shall see which of you has shown the better presence of mind." And with that, the God of Gods released the two slugs into the world, calling upon birds to attack them both. First, the birds attacked Anu's slug, but unable to penetrate the thick shell of the creature, they quickly quit. Then, Rastil'uk's slug came into the sights of the birds. quickly taking the creature into its' mouth, the slug was swallowed whole, and the bird proceeded to fly off, when it fell back to the ground, dead. The eaten slug crawled from the bird's open beak and back onto the ground, to the much surprised looks of the two brothers.
"You have both made a creation that can now survive the harsh worlds I have created, your differing ideas have bettered the creature, but not enough. Any living creature must have a means of offense and defense to survive for the duration of it's life. As you brothers complete one another, yet you are not whole. One of you is powerful and offensive, the other is wise and defensive, but neither of you is complete." And with that, the God of Gods combined the two brothers in to the being Anu Ras'til, handing over the Tome of Time to him and commissioning him to walk the multiverse, watching worlds, and the races that inhabit them, recording the history of existence until the end of it.
