Carson is an easy-going, laid back guy. He wants to be everyone's friend, and avoids conflict unless he is absolutely has to. He will, however, defend someone who he feels is being treated unfairly by others. Just because he doesn't want to argue doesn't mean he lets people walk all over him. He is willing to tell a blatant lie if he feels it will cheer someone up; everyone who knows him knows him as perpetually mellow and calm guy, and very few have ever seen another side to him.
He believes the way to change the world is subtle, and requires you to make several small changes that people aren't even aware of, rather than a big, heavily-contested decree. Fame, to him, is the fastest way to become obsolete in the process of fixing the world.
Carson got on well with his parents, and rarely fought with his younger sister. Sure, they had things they argued over, but there were never any big secrets that kept them apart. They encouraged him when he decided to go to a technical college with an engineering focus; he also is very interested in the human body. He wants to develop the next MRI or similar medical device that would change the world; he spent a lot of time working on college projects with professors, doing research labs with grant money. He graduated in the top third of his class.
Carson wants to get a doctorate, but his family doesn't have enough money to pay the full ride. Instead, he took a few years off from school in a smaller job to try to earn enough money to be able to support himself through loans and his own income.
