Detailed Information
Dracosuchus Imperator is the largest of the flying dragon species, having a tetrapodal stance with four limbs, a large head with an elongated snout, a long S-shaped spine with a long finned or spaded tail with dorsal feathers on its head and back, thick scales and bone plates, a semi-hollow honeycomb shaped ivory skeletal bone structure with elbow rods and a keel, massive lungs and pectoral muscles, scaley legs featuring a pair of terrible talons, massive bat-like wings, a huge multi-chambered heart, flexible ribs, dual gas bladders, a protective ivory throat palate, stingray-like flat mollars for grinding, raptor-like curved teeth for ripping, long bird-like hindlegs, and a crocodile-like gaze. Like all Dracodylidae, it resembles a hybridization or chimera of different animal species including reptiles, dinosaurs, pterosaurs, birds, fish, amphibians, mammals and the like apart from arthropods and hexapodal species, which they have no relation to. Dracosuchus is believed to have evolved from a prehistoric lobe-finned fish just like other tetrapods, though it's still unclear which evolutionary path it took. Dracosuchus Imperator is believed to be the youngest dragon species, and may have evolved from an earlier now extinct species before developing the power of flight. Although it is not the largest dragon species, Dracosuchus Imperator takes the crown as being one of the most intelligent species which makes it a very formidable predator, having a 92% hunting success rate similar to a common feline. It can even mimic humans and other animals, or breathe fire with its toxic breath.
Some cryptozoologists and cryptid professors at the museum's scientific research center in the field of dragonology classify the Dracosuchus Imperator as a type of wyvern, having 2 wings and 2 legs. However, they resemble Hungarian Horntail dragons and are much larger than most typical wyvern species. Dracosuchus Imperators actually eat wyverns and other smaller dragon species as part of their survival instinct. They are known to nest in cave lairs and horde shiny treasures, possibly for mating reasons rather than for any valuable significance or greedy pleasure. They lay hard, scaley large oblong-shaped eggs and control the gender of their unborn offspring by manipulating and regulating the temperature. Their breath is gaseous and toxic to humans, with the ability to kill a full-sized human male from 12 feet away. Dracosuchus has a piercing gaze and is said to be able to hypnotize anyone who makes eye contact with them. They closely resemble the classical European dragon in many ways. Dracosuchus is very snake-like and reptillian in nature with a menacing appearance, devilish wings and raptor-like talons.
Despite its appearance, however, and its intelligence, Dracosuchus is not an evil creature. It has a Chireptiliavian brain which runs on instinct and has no concept of good or evil. It simply acts like an animal according to its nature, by mating and hunting and caring for its young. Imperators are a species that thrives on its own survival, which it has done successfully for millions of years. Their bodies and minds are hardwired by evolution, their actions triggered by hunger, the temperature, weather, the sun and the moon, and by natural migration patterns and mating rituals. Although they are territorial and protective of their nest, they have no concept of evil and are not capable of thinking like humans. They may be able to sometimes out-think or even outsmart a human being, but they can only mimic sounds like a mockingbird, albeit more convincingly. They don't actually have developed complex speech or the ability to tell stories, at least not in a way that humans would normally understand. They instead communicate with loud, hissing, roaring, horn-like squaks, croc-like clicks, flute-like chirps and squeels much like birds, dinosaurs and other reptiles. Being the largest of the Dracosuchus species, Imperators have an impressive wingspan which makes this flying Chireptiliavian half the size of a large wide-body cargo airliner, only a lot more flexible and maneuverable in flight. If a cow ever jumps over the moon, it's most likely because this monstrous flying reptillian carried them away.
Apart from this, Dracodylidae cells have evolved a special protein similar to humans which helps to regulate their body temperature so that they don't overheat in the summer, or freeze in the winter. They also dwell in caves and places which aid in this process by trapping the heat. They use their bat-like wings like solar sails and cool off by flying through the water vapors in the clouds, or by swimming in the water. Dracosuchus is an exceptional swimmer, capable of hunting sharks underwater. Their lungs, throat flap, fenestrae and nostrils allow them to hold their breath for a very long time. Their semi-hollow bones are filled with hydrogen pockets and are very buoyant, however, so they eat gastroliths to help them sink. Gastroliths also provide phosphorus, platinum and crystals which stick to the dragon's stingray-like molars and act as a catalyst when breathing fire from its methane-filled gas bladders. These gas bladders also assist in providing lift during the power of flight, or when gliding. This animal has a large wide-body ribcage to support its heart and lungs. It has two rows of sharp, curved teeth for hunting prey. It prefers to eat large fish, cephlapods, mammals and especially wild horses, giraffes, boar, tigers, goats and cattle. These dragons are cannibalistic and are known to come in a variety of natural colors with superb camouflage and skin cells which can change colors like a chameleon. They can also grab or spear animals with their long snake-like tongue, and latch on or shred tough animal hides with their terrible talons, a pair of razor sharp raptor-like toe claws on each foot, and at the tip of each wing.
Additional Information
The Dracosuchus genera has 3 main species, which can be further divided into several similar subspecies. Dracosuchus Oceania is the marine dwelling amphibious species which lives in water and has fins or flippers instead of feathers or wings. Dracosuchus Oceania is more snake-like or fish-like than its land walking cousins, and its gas bladders are replaced by oil bladders and an extra set of gills to go with their lungs. Dracosuchus Terrestria is the most common land walking dragon which most closely resembles dinosaurs and non-avian, wingless reptiles. Dracosuchus Terrestria is a tetrapod which bares some resemblance to fire-breathing crocodilians, and its believed this species evolved from the former marine species. Dracosuchus Imperator is the largest flying dragon which has wings and lives in the mountains. Although they are smaller than their wingless cousins, Imperators are the largest dragons in the skies and are believed to have evolved from the wingless land walking species mentioned earlier. Imperators have a stomach and asophagus lined with a thick slimey mucus membrane which protects their insides. Their stomach acids help to break down bones and digest foods better. Imperators have evolved the ability to regurgitate their stomach acids as a form of defense against predators. Their croc-like hard palatal valve protects their throat from burning, and helps prevent them from injesting water when submerged with their jaws open. All species of the Dracosuchus genera belong in the Tethysuchia clade system, meaning they all evolved from a common aquatic ancestor.
Dracosuchus Imperator has chiropteral, thick fleshy wings which absorb sunlight and allow the light to pass through. Like other reptiles, they can change colors by regulating blood flow to give them a more reddish appearance. Imperator wings have false-eye patterns on them like a moth or butterfly which it uses to deceive larger predators by flaring its wings to appear much bigger. Their dorsal feathers are not true feathers, but scaley spines attached to small muscles along the vertebrae. They can raise these feathers on top of their heads like a bird. They are often brightly colored and are believed to be used for mating rituals. Despite being the size of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, these flying dragons are extremely stealthy and thanks to their achievement of buoyancy, they can walk lightly through the forest like a cat. Their hindlegs and manuses also enable them to climb vertical rocks and cliffs like a bat. This makes them very adaptable and flexible carnivores. Their semi-hollow bones are honeycomb in structure, making them lightweight for their size but much stronger than bird bones. They have serpentine eyes with croc-like eyelids or scaley protective lenses. The dragon's heart is protected by a thick extra bone shell case and so is their brain, which combined with the rest of their thick outer scales and bone plates, makes these dragons rather difficult to kill with conventional weapons. Their dermal exoskeleton consists of bony scutes that underlie the epidermal scales of the dorsal surface of the trunk and anterior part of the tail.
The weakest point in their armor is the quarter-sized killspot located in the area just behind the rectangular hard plate on top of the head, just like an alligator or crocodile. Other than this killspot, dragons of this species are incredibly hard to kill, but not impossible with the right weapons. While their fins, sails and wings can be damaged, these appendages lack pain sensors. Dracosuchus Imperators have been known to fly despite having holes in their wings or partially missing wing membranes. Younger dragons have softer scales and are known to shed their skin when growing. They are born wingless and snake-like with small legs like a salamander, but eventually their scales harden and their manusae grow into bat-like wings, while adult dragons grow antler-like horns and a tough boney exoskeleton which covers their scales like plated armor, adding to an already well protected endoskeleton. Male dragons grow horns and spikes on their heads and snouts which they use for fighting and mating purposes. Even their eyes are protected by scales, and the inside of their mouths are plated as well. Because they breathe fire and spew acid, their ivory protective internal armor tends to deteriorate over time like human teeth. But this takes a very long time, and this species is known to use its powers sparingly. They are the most intelligent species of the Dracosuchus genera and are known to cook their food, making it easier for digestion. It's unknown yet whether or not this species can be domesticated, tamed or ridden, but the few attempts thus far have failed. It's also unknown currently how many of these dragons are in existence. They are considered to be both maneaters and cannibals, though attacks on humans are very rare, mostly because sightings of these specimens are also very rare.
