Edvaron Biritege's Story

A slick hoverconvertible zoomed up to the white gates of the Castle of Freeport. They didn't bother to check her identification- the Princess waved at the guards as they let her on through. A couple of them shook their heads. Where was her security?

She zipped into the underground garage, handed off her car to the valet with another one of her winning smiles, and began her ascent towards the throne room. She was excited to give her dad a big hug on his return from their neighboring city of Vien! Everyone she passed had a smile for Geniti-and the princess had questions for many in return. How was the little one, and was the hen laying eggs again? Little Krintin was doing fine, and Hen Lorie had fully recovered and had resumed her spot as the most aggressive in the yard.

The great doors to the throne room glided open and Geniti strode through. She marched past the court. Men took a knee and women curtsied gently. She smiled at them in return, noting the crowd was larger than usual. Her father didn't seem too happy, either. What could be going on?

Geniti swept into a deep bow as she approached the throne, where her father rubbed the spot between his eyes. The court grew silent at this. Her long white coat splayed out behind her, heavily pleated white tunic falling gracefully over her lower half as well. She looked to be rising from a white matrix, what with all of the pleats and cuts and folds in her royal garment.

"Geniti, rise," The King of Freeport sounded tired. Geniti looked up at her father, concerned, and rose to her feet. She stood at attention.

"We've received word from the mainland, and it's not good. That is what we were about to discuss," Edvaron Biritige gestured to Arthur Lovens to continue and settled into his throne.

"The Rogue," Arthur began, and then cleared his throat. Geniti took a half of a step forward. She had heard of The Rogue. It was wreaking havoc on the mainland. Rumor had it one of the newly created forests of light had suffered destruction.

"A party assembles in Vien. We are to meet tomorrow at dawn to hunt The Rogue. So far I am the only one who is confirmed in attendance from Freeport."

"You are forbid! This is a very sensitive, very dangerous operation. You are to stay in Freeport, and every guard has been alerted of this order. Do not attempt to disobey, Geniti!" The King spoke up before The Princess could even inquire on whether or not she could attend.

Geniti scowled, but quickly wiped the look off of her face and nodded. She could watch via drone, if she really wanted to- and she was going to. The court slowly began to chatter as they finished with their official business. Geniti filled The King in on the vibe of the city, and she was likewise briefed on important upcoming engagements that required her presence. Three dinners, two dances, an opera, and how many Hunt matches?

"But I thought I was to stay in Freeport?" Geniti teased when The King mentioned she was to attend The Hunt in Vien. He scoffed and waved her giggling self away.

"After The Rogue is apprehended, of course. You're not setting foot on mainland so far as there is a threat," The King pointed at Geniti and she rounded in her step, "Are we clear?"

"Crystal!" Geniti called back and flounced through the door, a group of ladies in waiting flurrying after her. The King shook his head and Arthur's eyes glittered. Now wasn't the time, but someday he would win her hand.

Edvaron Biritege beamed at his daughter, "Beautiful, Geniti. I do trust you'll be in good hands at the Valentine's Day Soirée."

Edvaron Biritege folded his arms and regarded his daughter with a raised brow. There should be no need to explain that a princess needed protection, but here they were. He sighed and shook his head. No, there was no need to explain anything at all.

Edvaron Biritege bowed his head and didn't protest.

The King rose quickly from the throne as a door drew itself in the air. Through the door stepped one of the Free Knights of the White Flame, dressed entirely in white, closely followed by a robed woman and two sapphire panthers. The panthers kept their eyes on the woman. They didn't trust her fully, as neither did their conjurer, and this reflected heavily in their prowl.

"My King," The young man swept down onto one knee and bowed his head, quickly rising to stand at attention.

The King's fists were clenched. His face was a shade of pale, his cloak haphazardly discarded and his sleeves rolled up to the elbows. Sweat glistened on his brow. Despite this, when he did finally speak, his words were quite calm. His breath wasn't even but the King managed to keep his composure of voice.

Edvaron Biritege continued to stare at Relina. He finally sat back and waved his hand to the young man in dismissal, "Thank you, Orlando. You may go."

The King looked back to Relina, "Tell me. Relina is your name, yes? Tell me," his voice became a hair more intense, "Have you never utilized a spaceport?"

Relina took a seat on the floor of the room sitting with her legs crossed almost as if in meditation. She was silent as the knight or whatever he was told the King who she was. They hadn't taken her lightsaber which was both foolish and smart of them.. she feared what her anger would do if they tried to disarm her....

"Yes that is my name... And yes I have used a spaceport before... but not on this planet... In fact i do not even know what planet this is. i saw a group of people and decided to ask them for info..." Relina said then paused and looked to the King. "I guess we know how that went..."

"Yes that is my name... And yes I have used a spaceport before... but not on this planet... In fact i do not even know what planet this is. i saw a group of people and decided to ask them for info..." Relina said then paused and looked to the King. "I guess we know how that went..."

The King raised a brow at this response. A group of people?

"What's suspicious, Relina," The King said sternly, "Is that out of the entire island city of Freeport, you chose to land in a small party being attended by no other than the Princess of the Royal Family of Freeport. Diving from orbit, did you not see the entire city around the group of people?"

He caught himself before his temper raised any further and huffed. Diving from orbit. It was a wonder they didn't see the new Silver Forest over around Vien, or the Gargantuan Stage for that matter. The whole thing was the size of Freeport itself! He cast a glance out the windows to the bluish twilight of Aberash's night.

Relina sensed the anger rising in the king as he spoke. An emotion she knew too well...

"In my time I have learned it is normally safer to seek info away from the bustle of the city. Had I known it was a royal party i would have avoided it at all cost... It would have kept me from this current inquisition...." Relina stated calmly.

Relina gave a shrug. "Could be messed up.. the Kyber has been though a lot... I have had little time to fully work on her."

Relina gave a sigh. "I've been looking for a safe harbor for some time... that is why I came here to gather info on this planet and see if it could be the safe haven I seek."

Edvaron Biritege nodded. If the reader was messed up, well, it was no wonder it pinpointed the greenest area for miles around. He sighed and shook his head. The King adjusted himself in his seat to sit up straighter. After a few moments consideration he nodded.

"I am not to deny you the refuge of this place. You must become a citizen. Easy enough process."

Someone briskly came through a curtained doorway to the side and handed the king a slip of paper. It was trimmed nicely enough. He frowned down at it, then looked to Relina.

"Relina. It seems you've caught the attention of The Sixth College. Apparently you've the ability to do something magical. Your ship will be inspected on your arrival. Consider it safe until then. Afterwards, best be prepared to deal with it-er, her."

Edvaron Biritege gestured towards the door. Out there Relina would find a transport waiting for her, to take her down to The Sixth College should she choose to accept their invitation.
