Description

Image

(Supplementary concept art for Erika. No official art for Erika exists!)
Erika is a blessed with a lithe, bottom-heavy body build. Her hips and legs, in particular, are disproportionately large compared to the rest of her body. This is not simply a case of fortune, her large and muscular legs allowing her to easily jump to unprecedented heights. Her white skin is perpetually slick, sporting a rather unpleasant slimy feeling to the touch and appearing rather shiny by appearance. She has freckles of various shades covering her entire body, giving her skin tone a somewhat patchy appearance.

Erika has a very big mouth, literally. In fact, one might say it looks a tad freaky. Whereas a normal human's mouth might be twice the width of their nose at full stretch, Erika's mouth pushes the limits of its frame (her face). When she grins she can almost literally grin nearly ear to ear, a cheshire grin for the books. The Irises of Erika's eyes are also unusually large compared to a human's, leaving less Sclera (White space) visible. Her pupils are also larger and slitted, affording her excellent night vision. Her hair, much like her skin, is perpetually slick. It is only with the aid of various gels that it ever stays up. Erika stands at about five feet eleven inches (180.34 cm), weighs about 235 pounds, has deep sea blue eyes and hazelnut brown hair.

Basic Info
  • Full Name: Erika Onzanem
  • Age: Immortal, appearing to be 18-20'ish
  • Sex: Female
  • Species: Human/Frog
  • Sub Species: Dark Celestial
  • Titles/Nicknames: "Lady Erika" "Lady Onzanem"
  • Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
  • Occupation: Artificier / Student of Magic

Personality
Erika is a rather nonchalant, level-headed individual, who places her dignity and independence at the top of her priorities. She has an obsession with magic, particularly magical artifacts which she seeks out to study for the purposes of creating her own. To this end she keeps a collection of magical doodads, some more practically useful than others, as well as a substantial library of books on all topics magic. Erika holds a very hostile disposition towards light magic and light celestial beings in part because of her devastating weakness to light magic, but also because of old grudges over her and her ancestors damnation. She often thinks of herself as a soldier, working to seek revenge for her mistreatment at the hands of a cruel and uncaring god. Despite this fact, Erika rarely chooses to fight of her own will as she finds most mortal conflict pointless. She prefers talking her way out of a conflict and will generally only fight if she or those close to her are perceived as being threatened.

In her element, Erika is somewhat forgetful and obsessive--usually having some sort of new 'toy' to gush about if provoked. She enjoys the presence of children and resents those who would take advantage of them. While not particularly romantic or cheery even on the best of days, she usually manages to be pleasant in the company of kids. Erika is not a woman who smiles a lot in the company of strangers. Her default disposition is one of wary tolerance. She enjoys having her ego stroked but takes sexual advances poorly. Erika is very sensitive to the temperature, generally becoming irritable when the temperature exceeds 90 freedoms (32 commies) or drops below 50 freedoms (10 commies). Similarly, she becomes very grumpy when the humidity in the area is low.

As a parent, Erika is a bit of a pushover. She has a hard time saying no, with a few notable exceptions related to her distrust and hatred of holy beings.

Physiological Abnormalities
  • Can jump many times her own height and deliver devastating kicks on account of her huge hips, legs and feet.
  • Excellent sense of smell and night vision
  • Can breathe underwater
  • Cold-Blooded
  • Skin retains moisture very well. If it dries out, she dies.
  • Difficulty chewing food; Swallows food whole instead. Exponentially larger throat and stomach capacity.
  • Extremely long, sticky frog-like tongue that can lash out at speeds that make it difficult for the human eye to track.
  • Her flesh is poisonous. (Not to be confused with venomous)

Weapons and Armor
Titanfury: A comically large longsword imbued with earth magic. The blade has the ability to manipulate the ground when swung, creating a powerful shockwave that can potentially level small buildings by disturbing and shattering the earth underneath it. The blade's latent magic can be discharged for a single devastating attack before it needs to recharge. This blade does not dull or break.

Acheron's Grief: A small sword enchanted with dark celestial magic, it's blade an obsidian black color. It steals the soul of its victims upon a mortal blow, trapping them in one of the three rubies embedded in the blade's hilt(s). It is also imbued with a deadly venom. This blade does not dull or break.

Wyrmrise: A small sword imbued with draconic magic. It leaves extremely painful burns when it cuts flesh. The blade's latent magic can be discharged to unleash a mighty spectral dragon made of draconic flames upon the foe, attacking them for a short period of time before dissipating. The blade will only respond to the hands of an avowed knight. It contains the soul of Ryuujin Jakka.

The Megiddo Shards: A half dozen magical crystal shards that float about Erika' presence. Each shard acts as a solar powered battery for fire elemental magic to be called upon and weaponized with extreme speed. The shards seem to have a mind of their own. When combined, these shards form The Megiddo Star, a volatile meteor that can explosively ravage a small area.

Duskhowl: This longsword's blade glows faintly with a magical orange sheen that seems to twist and warp as one stares at it. A twilight crystal is forged into the body of the blade, the source of it's magical properties. Duskhowl is so named for its tendency to emit a howling noise that becomes eerily similar to a scream when swung at full force. Other than that, this blade's only real power would seem to be its ability to inflict debilitating, nightmarish sensations upon those it strikes. These brief hallucinations prey upon the victim's insecurities and worst fears to make them hesitate in battle, forcing enemies to flinch and or lose control of themselves so that the wielder may make additional attacks of opportunity upon them.

The Fallen Angel: A set of custom fitted hihi'irokane plate armor, heavily enchanted to serve a variety of functions in the interest of protecting its wearer. Two of it's main functions are temperature regulation, as Erika cannot survive in extreme temperatures (Below 32 Freedoms or above 100 Freedoms) without the aid of magic. Its second function is protection from magic. The armor absorbs latent spiritual energy from the world around Erika to form a buffer between herself and attacks, being especially effective in reducing the strength of magic before it reaches Erika, however, it cannot protect her against a series of consecutive, strong attacks. The armor is also capable of charging its buffer using captured souls as fuel, which is substantially more effective than usual. The metal itself is extremely difficult to pierce or shatter. However, the armor does not cover Erika's entire body and the cloth/unguarded parts are much less effective at blocking physical attacks. Additionally, blunt force is largely effective at bypassing the armor's protection. Lastly, the armor is enchanted to give Erika substantial control over its weight. This last enchantment is usually fueled by Erika's own emotions, failing if she is knocked out or too exhausted to continue fighting.

Magical Prowess
  • She is fluent with Unholy, Dark, Water, and Wind elemental magic in order of expertise; she can control other elements, except holy, with the aid of a magic circle. Her dark magic does not require speech.
  • Her soul is super-potent, being far denser with spiritual energy than an adult human. She can tap into this power to commit intense feats of strength that would be outright impossible for a normal human. Does not require speech.
  • She will self-resurrect some time after being killed unless her soul is captured and destroyed.
  • She is a skilled artificer, capable of creating a variety of magical objects both practical and novelty.
  • Erika is capable of magically swapping out her clothes, weapons or armor for another set.
  • Anti-Magic that would normally prevent someone from spellcasting has no effect on any of the above powers, as they are fueled by Erika's own strength rather than any latent magical force she could be disconnected from.

Artifacts
Insomniac's Mask: A cursed artifact, Insomniac's Mask becomes harder to take off the longer it is worn. The wearer will never feel any effect of exhaustion, however, they cannot rest and their health begins to rapidly decline after a few days. An average human male will lack the strength to remove the mask after only 11 hours, however, Erika is capable of wearing the mask for up to 84 hours before it's grip becomes too strong for her to remove. After 3 or 4 days the wearer will begin to enter a zombie-like state of decreased mental function. Death will ensue in as little as 7 days, particularly hardy individuals could last several days longer.

Muse of the Dead: Resembling a mask made out of the broken face of a human skull, the muse of the dead causes it's wearer to take on the form of a rotting zombie version of themselves. It can also cause them take on the form of a sentient skeleton. The transformation is perfect, to the point that even the wearer will begin to forget what it felt like to be alive after a time. It is not true undeath, however, as the mask will fall off after the wearer suffers a blow that would normally be deadly to their skull. At this point they are freed from the mask, suffering severely from a magical sickness that renders them weak, frail and nauseous for the better part of a week.

Spectacles of Truth: These glasses, when looked through, bestow the wearer with true vision. The glasses will thwart any attempt to obscure the wearer's natural vision with magic and giving them the ability to see sentient life through walls and other obstructions.

Companions and Pets
Water Golem: This deceptively powerful guardian serves as Erika's personal bouncer. A five foot tall, bulky glob of anthropomorphic water with a surprisingly strong punch. This beast cannot be restrained unless it is completely sealed in a container and is immune to fire magic, ice magic and most physical attacks on account of its nature. This creature is Erika's thrall, bound to her and bowing to her whim. It's also quite tasty and refreshing in a pinch, apparently. Erika's Water Golem is dangerous strictly because of how difficult it is to dispatch, as well as it's ability to harass someone relentlessly on command. Lightning magic is it's only proper weakness. It does not speak, though one is left to wonder what it might say if it could.

The Late Sir Leonce Pascal: A sassy spectral knight and one of Erika's thralls. He was drawn to the spiritual conductivity of her armor and forced into servitude by Erika, who keeps him bound to her presence. Sir Pascal holds his master with disdain, performing menial tasks for her begrudgingly and often criticizing her when she calls upon him. Normally Erika offers her spirit servants the choice of freedom or another chance at life as one of her children after they've served her for enough time, however, Sir Pascal apparently cared for neither option and chose to haunt her instead.

Weaknesses
  • Erika loses access to much of her spellcasting ability if she is unable to speak.
  • Erika's body is very vulnerable to fire and ice magic, both of which can destabilize her body temperature and wreak havoc on her ability to keep fighting back.
  • Holy magic is extremely effective at harming Erika, even more so than fire and ice magic. It has an effect on her similar to disintegration on contact.
  • Even Erika's armor cannot protect her from sufficiently extreme temperatures.

History
Erika was 'orphaned' at a very young age as a consequence of her uncle's schemes to sacrifice her for his own gain and power. Her parents are not dead, rather she was taken away from them to protect her from her uncle and as of yet has never either of her parents. She was given up to a couple who didn't quite understand exactly what she was, especially with regards to her dark heritage, and they raised her into her late teens. The couple was a pair of mages who attempted to teach Erika magic, however Erika struggled with basic magic for reasons unclear to them. When they investigated this issue they discovered Erika's magical presence was being suppressed, likely to protect her from being tracked down. The curse placed upon her was too arcane for her adopted parents to dispel, and so Erika began a search for someone who could help her.

As it so happened this search led her to her grandfather, who offered to remove her curse in exchange for a lifetime of servitude--or more accurately, slavery. Erika reluctantly agreed, but when her grandfather removed the curse from her he immediately noticed the darkness‌ in her soul. Recognizing her as being related to him, he refused to keep her as a slave and instead began raising her to tap into newfound potential. It was from him that she learned to use dark magic and with his aid that she received her armor, The Fallen Angel. He also helped her learn to wield a sword and gifted her with one of her own named Acheron's Grief, an artifact designed with synergy with her armor in mind.

Erika grew to spend a lot more time with her grandfather as time passed and she continued learning in his footsteps, adopting her militant hatred of all that was holy from him and mimicking several facets of his fighting style in her effort to aspire to become more like the self-proclaimed "King of Darkness". Unfortunately for her idol, his day would one day come and Erika would be left to inherit the collapsed remains of her grandfather's legacy. Newly self-proclaimed "Queen of Darkness", Erika set out to build herself a legacy and family of her own to fill the void left by the family she'd lost.

So begins...

Erika hesitated as a rather unexpected sound greeted her ears. She turned to look, but upon closer inspection she discovered this cutey was a tad bit too small to eat her ...Probably. Maybe. She looked friendly anyway, and that was good enough for the moment. Erika was wearing a somewhat ornate suit of armor that glowed with a subtle red sheen. At her rather large hip was an ornate small sword with an obsidian-black blade and three red gems embedded in its hilt. She didn't appear to have anything helping her breathe underwater, at least visibly.

Erika turned and lazily waved one of her arms at Codelia, watching warily to study her reaction. Was this one of the residents of this sunken town? Was it just a curious local creature? Or perhaps... was it more? Only careful observation could safely determine this.

Erika did a couple more pushups until she was sure Yuki has the idea, watching her carefully as she imitated Erika's movements. She would move to sit next to Yuki, her legs folding underneath her. "If you want to toughen up your hands, that's all you have to do..." she began though the tone of her voice was clearly suggesting she wasn't finished. "But having tough hands isn't enough to be a hero. So if you really want a good workout, you want to straighten your back..." she continued, gently reaching out to place a hand on Yuki's belly and attempt to guide her into doing exactly that. "You'll also want to run, squat, do some sit-ups, and maybe skip some rope." she finished explaining, pondering how to best answer the remaining question of time.

"It... really depends on you how many you should do. You want to be sore, but you don't want to be in pain. Does that make sense?"

Yuki's stomach tensed up at being touched and her back certainly straightened! She wasn't used to people touching her belly! "Uh- yeah I think I get it," she answered uncertainly. She did just a few more push ups before she stopped and sat back with her legs crossed and her skirt tucked.

"But... how will this make me a warrior? I mean... don't I have to learn how to fight too? A-and how do I know if I'm being a good warrior or a bad warrior? Isn't there some sort of Bushido code I have to follow?"

Erika quickly withdrew her hand after Yuki's back straightened. She then watched for a moment before moving to sit before Yuki, folding her legs against her bottom underneath her. She then folded her hands on her lap. "Well, fighting is a lot of hard work!" she explained, nodding her head as if in approval of her own words. "Running jump roping will help you with your feet movement. You've gotta be fast enough to keep up with your opponent!" she went on to explain. "As for squatting, that will help you become more flexible and strengthen your muscles. You'll need that or when you want to dodge. It also does wonders for your figure~!" she went on, winking at Yuki with a light-hearted smirk upon her face.

"Sit ups and pushups serve a similar purpose, but for your upper body instead of your lower body. That's how you train your body, but you train your mind with practice." Erika continued, gesturing to her head. "If you don't train your body, you'll tire out really fast and you won't be able to fight anymore. If you don't train your mind, you won't know how to make your strength count!"

Yuki listened on intently with eyes wide at all the advice, taking it all in with ears perked and twitching with interest. She was smiling to, keen to absorb whatever information Erika could share!
"And when do I learn how to teleport and shoot beams out of my hand!" Yuki enthusiastically asked when Erika was done talking. It may have seemed like she didn't understand the training properly, but in actuality, the nekojin had just watched far too much anime.

Erika just sort of hesitated a moment, her eyebrows raising slightly as she was taken off guard. Where had this poor child learned such ideas? Peering into her eyes, Erika managed to get an idea of where Erika was coming from. Her enthusiasm suggested she was being serious, and the larger woman chuckled light-heartedly in response. "That..." she began, gesturing with her fingers to ask the other to be patient. "Is more the realm of magic than martial arts" she continued, stressing this point with her pause.

"I can help you with magic, but learning magic is far different from learning to fight from your fists. There are a dozen different ways to do it, many of them very different from eachother. Each has their goods and bads, with some even more dangerous to the yourself than whoever you're fighting."

"Magic?" Yuki echoed with slight confusion in her voice as her eyes searched Erika's face to look for any sort of joke, "No no, its stuff you do by learning martial arts and using your 'ki'. Then you can do all sorts of really cool and amazing stuff..." She shuffled awkwardly in her seat.

"Maybe I'm just getting confused."

"Anyway, you can teach me the basics and then when I'm strong I can learn the rest. I-- um, well I mean, there's someone I'm trying to impress so they'll teach me. Did I say that already?" she asked with a tilt of her head. She was suddenly talking awfully quickly, a bundle of nervous energy trying to make up for her mistake.

Erika was quietly considering Yuki's words when she was asked a question, nodding quickly in response. She had a good idea of what Ki was, but teaching someone else to use it sounded like a monumental task. Still... Who could say no to a cute face like that? She would lean in and hesitantly reach out to ruffle Yuki's hair, unsure if the other would allow her to do so much less appreciate the gesture. Part of her suspected Yuki found her skin a bit gross.

"Don't worry about it. I'll help you get it all sorted out so you can go impress your boy, alright~?" she remarked reassuringly. "Ki is... a kind of magic, a kind of magic that comes from inside you instead of from the world around you. That makes it reliable." she explained thoughtfully.

Impress her... boy? Her ears perked up in alarm and her eyes were like full discs as her cheeks flooded with red once more. "No-no it's nothing like that he's more like a Sensei!" she insisted with two hands raised open flat and waving back and forth to emphasize just how much that wasn't the case! If it wasn't for such distracting words, Yuki would have found that skin entirely disgusting enough to reel away, but this took way too much attention!

"Oh my god," Yuki added, planting her face in her hands dramatically. What did Erika think of her? That she was just trying to win over a boys heart? This was entirely different! She was trying to impress an older man who she liked a lot! Completely different!

Erika was unable to contain herself and her lips pulled back in an impossibly wide grin that appeared to almost literally stretch ear to ear. The amusement on her face was readily apparent, and in all honesty... she wasn't quite convinced that Yuki didn't have a crush on this boy. It was always so difficult to tell, with these young ones. Courting was an entirely different world for them, one she could never fully understand.

But... then her smile vanished. Yuki had said something or another that didn't sit well with her and her amusement faded in an instant, or perhaps she was simply trying not to make the other feel like she was being laughed at? It wasn't clear, but if she was hiding her amusement she was doing a very good job at it. "...It's alright. Perhaps I'll just be your sensei until he's ready to train you. How's that sound~?" she replied, returning her arms to her knees.

Ears perked back up at Erika's offer to be her Sensei. It was all she really wanted! Someone to teach her and train her to be a real warrior! Though... Honestly that smile was really freaky! "You'd do that for me?" she asked, "Thank you so much!" The nekojin lurched forward to throw her arms about Erika in a tight hug that she would regret moments later when she had to let go and found slime on her arms and neck.

It had not been a great height, not the greatest that is, but once Talim did land she did temporarily fall unconscious as she sunk, though quickly she awoke and swam up to the surface heading for the patch of land, her arms thrashed the waves violently as she continued to wade through the lake, her muscles pushing herself to the utter limits to make sure she made it. At the time this had seemed the better idea, whatever had come over that strange man she could not fathom, but she learned long ago fighting to solve all ills is no way to succeed, thus she had chosen flight. Nonetheless it was difficult passage through these waters and unfortunately as she had fallen unconscious she had lost the Tonfas, leading to her having to find some new ones later on, though currently she just swam and pushed herself, her legs kicking aggressively while her sodden clothes warned of pulling her down, it was an uphill battle, of course not the hardest challenge she had put herself through.

Nonetheless she finally arrived on the beach exhausted and utterly peaked, collapsing on the sands far enough from the shore so the tide did not drown her, breathing barely though very much alive, just face down in the sand, her clothes so soaked they were drenching nearby sands.

Alive.

Just...

Fortunately, the slimy sensation of touching Erika's skin was more of an unpleasant texture than actual slime that could get stuck to someone else. It was sort of like running one's hand along a fish, and Yuki would find that Erika's felt rather lukewarm to the touch, a far cry from the warmth of another human being. None-the-less, the surprised woman returned that hug in an affectionate manner, apparently less than upset with Yuki's mistake. A chuckle escaped her. "Yes, of course, little one." she replied, releasing Yuki but a moment later.

She wasn't yet aware of another presence, as she hadn't been paying attention.

Yuki let go and tried to resist the skin-crawling sensation of wanting to rub up and down her limbs. She really didn't know what it would be like to hug a frog, but it did get her wondering... "Well, I'm going to go start on my training. Would it be okay if we tried to meet here next week? Same time? And we can see how far I've progressed!" She stood up and dusted off her rear, then picked her bag up once more and slung it on her shoulders.

Stirring somewhat with flimsy fondling of the sands, her hands clawing the sands her indentations digging into the shore while she began to awake, very slowly, groaning in exhaustion. Finally she lift her head and stared around her, eyes were still foggy and hazed, as the vision in front of her began to matrialize, the blobs slowly solidifying into two figures, then humanoids and finally two distinct people. Letting out a groan again the young girl crawled up to her knees and sighed, she would not do that again, that is for sure, "Um... excuse me, excuse me, can any of you tell me where a good weapons shop is?" it was such an odd question to come out what was basically someone washed ashore.

Letting out a hacking cough, she spat out some more water, "Also perhaps somewhere I could get some fresh clothes, I rather feel jumping off the bluff was not that smartest thing I did, although the other outcome would have been a fight would rather not get into." standing up slowly she winced as her muscles threatened to collapse under her, "Well... hello then, my name is Talim, what are both of yours?"

Erika nodded quickly in confirmation. "That sounds perfect, Yuki. Do your best for me, alright?" she replied before some movement caught her eyes. An intruder upon their moment had made themselves known! ...She quickly got up and turned to inspect Talim, taking in an alarming few details right off the bat.

She was... soaked, unsteady on her feet and her knees were covered in sand. Her mind also appeared to be elsewhere. Erika fidgeted uneasily as Talim spit up. She would reach out, gesturing for Talim to slow down. "Easy there... My name's Erika. Why don't we make sure you're alright before we start worrying about... weapons and stuff?" she replied, waving one of her hands dismissively at the idea. "Do you need a ride or anything?" she wound up asking.

Yuki was surprised to see someone clawing their way up the beach. Her ears perked up and her head tilted in curiosity. A weapons shop? That actually sounded ike a good idea. Maybe she should get a weapon to help her fight. But would they even sell weapons to a teenager? Oh well, she would think about it later. "I'm Yuki," she called over Erika's shoulder, but as her helping she wasn't sure if she could really do anything. Still she was just going to wait a minute to see if they needed her help.

Glancing at both of them she appeared rather nonplussed and very much fatigued as evident by how slouched her form was, barely standing despite attempts to prove to the latter, although she did very much seem to understand those speaking and gave a sort of smile, "I suppose you are right, I have after all swam harder than I ever have, if you can't tell right now I can barely if at all stand." as if on cue her legs fell out from under her as she collapsed in a heap groaning, "Never again, and yes... yes... reason I wish to buy or procure new weapons is rather because well long story short, I had a pair that were like a prized relic to me, given when I was younger, they are now at the bottom of the lake, as when I fell I rather went unconscious for few brief seconds before managing to awake, barely. Nonetheless..." she paused to more heave and spit out more fresh water, coughing and spluttering violently, as she tried to remove the liquid from her lungs, "Perhaps... mmm... yeah we'll go with that whole ride..."

Erika's hand shot out as Talim fell, fumbling in her attempts to catch the other. She quickly moved to crouch next to her and ease her into a less uncomfortable position on her side. She half-heartedly wiped some of the spit up away from Talim's mouth with her bare hand. Her skin had a somewhat unpleasantly slimy texture to them however, Erika had reason to suspect Talim wouldn't mind too much if her savior's hands weren't perfect. "Alright. I'm going to get you all taken care of." she reassured the fallen girl. "Yuki..? I'm going to have to bring this young lady to the hospital, alright? You don't have to come if you don't want to." she explained, simultaneously giving Talim a brief inspection to check for any additional wounds or bruises.

"I'm going to pick you up now. I want you to try leaning on me, okay?" Erika went on as she finished her inspection, easing her arms underneath Talim and lifting her with something of ease. She would shift the other onto her back, leaning forward slightly to make it easy for Talim to rest her weight against her. Her arms were layered underneath Talim's bottom, supporting her weight. "There we go..." she remarked hesitantly, waiting a moment to see if Talim could grip her with her arms or thighs. She'd have to travel a bit slower if she couldn't.
