Garrett Grounds's Story

Maurana nodded, "One more question, slave. Who sent you to young Dixon's house? Who sent you to hunt them?"

Garrett struggled in his chains for a moment, his teeth clenched as he tried not to say a word. But again, it lasted merely a few seconds.

"Henderson. Mike. He's the leader of our faction. Of the areas we're to Hunt in. A human tipped us off and led us to them."

Maurana nodded to Mytri, "Mike Henderson would probably know the whereabouts of your vampiric children." She looked down to Dixon, "You must think outside of your box, fledgling. Not all answers will come so directly." Mytri couldn't help but agree with her, though he wasn't entirely too fond of Maurana addressing the boy at all.

Dixon nodded, wiping his eyes and looking from Maurana to Mytri and then to Garrett. "What's going to happen to him? Why was he turned into a vampire? Will you kill him?" He wiped more tears from his eyes, as he tried to be the brave vampire he was supposed to be, but he could hear Garrett laughing away, not caring that Maurana was there to listen. He wanted Dixon to still fear him. He wanted the boy scared and useless.

"Mike's been at this for decades. He'll kill you, Dixon. Or maybe he won't. Maybe you'll find him and get to join your friends. We have Jason, you know." Garrett decided to give more information. After all, he'd given so much away by force, might as well taunt the boy extra.

"He's probably in bits if he's not dead. They get to practice staking them, just not at the heart straight away. Good firm stakes first. And we starve them. He was crying for his mother when I found him. Will you be crying for yours too?" He smirked.

Maurana couldn't take another moment of this. "Enough!" She ordered. "Mytri, get your whimpering apprentice out of here. He's confusing my prisoner." She wouldn't stand for the hunter to feel as if he had a hand up on any single living being. Hunters had been responsible for the death of her own family. They had charged her mother with witchcraft, and killed her father by association. Her mother, however, had been everything but evil. A few of the hunters that had her hung had even witnessed her magnificent healing powers, and had lived to see her die because of them. Maurana, however, would not let her parent's death be in vain. She would give the hunters reason for existing, she gave them a reason to hate the creatures they hunted.

"Come Dixon, let us wait for our host in the hall." Mytri spoke softly. He recognized the agitation within Maurana, and wanted Dixon to have nothing to do with it. Exiting the cell, he closed the door behind them. Though, the door did little to mask the sounds that came from within. Garretts muffled screams echoed down the hall.

Maurana came from the cell, and wiped from her mouth a drizzle of blood. "He lives, for now." Walking past them, she eyed Dixon carefully, "Follow me to the sitting area, I'd like to speak with the both of you."
