So begins...
Just on the edge of Kyle's view was a most curious sight; a rather large, and flamboyantly pink panther it appeared. The creature was sleeping merrily in a lazy fashion, obviously basking in the sun and enjoying it thoroughly. Key was even purring for those that wandered near enough. However, such a large wild cat perhaps was intimidating for some or even appeared dangerous. Little did people know that Key was the most harmless person in all of Wing City.
Her great long and sleek tail swung back and forth in the sand, and Key continued to just lay there, upside down and belly up while her ears pricked to the sound of foot steps.
Key's ears pricked around even more at the sound of another pair of footsteps coming closer; another pair of running footsteps. Gah, it was annoying. She just wanted some peace and quiet away from the city and now there were people on the beach. She could never get a break, but meeting new people would be fun! Key oh so loved to meet new faces and make new friends, especially for her twin, Lock. He was always so ... lonely. The enormous cat rolled over onto its belly, opened its great maw and yawned with what sounded like an ominous roar.
Shaking her head, Key languidly rose from the sand and gave the rest of her large body a violent shake to rid herself of the clinging sand. Not long after, she began to slowly pad towards the male and female.
The panther's pace picked up and she began to gallop at the two, wanting to reach them as soon as possible. Key could see them looking at her with curious expressions on their faces and it only excited her even more! Opening her gait, the Erutin broke into a full out run, loving the way it felt to stretch her long legs out. And then a thought came to her, she would be playful! That was always the best way to greet someone and break the ice. Key was not a few feet away from the two and she gave a great leap and intended on pouncing on Kyle. She didn't realize that being larger than a man and having her shoulders reach the height of their waist would cause her to be quite the heavy kitty. At least she didn't use her claws! Key didn't want to hurt them, not at all. She just wanted to say hello.
Key's head tilted in curiosity and shock. Did he just say to end him? What? She didn't understand why he had said that or what it meant. Her head lowered towards Kyle's own, maw opening to reveal large and sharp teeth which could render a person into thousands of people. And then Key's rather large and tough tongue curled out of her mouth to give Kyle a wet hello along his cheek while her body vibrated with loud purring.
Key didn't remain on top of Kyle for long however as there was another person to greet. The panther shifted over to the girl and pressed her thick forehead against her leg, wanting so badly to be pet. Key's tail swished behind her merrily and happily.
The large cat sat back on is haunches and started to notice the discomfort Kyle had around her predatory look; her prettiest form ... at least in the mind of an Erutin. With another great shiver of her entire body, pink strands of fur exploded around Key and once the air had cleared what was left behind was not a panther but a young woman; a rather tall young woman. Key easily dwarfed Kyle but she found it cute and adorable. She so loved things that were smaller than her. It put a cheery smile on her face while she plopped down onto the sand, sitting cross legged.
"Hi," Key said, giving him a wave and a humored laugh.
"What do you mean what just happened? I said hello to you, aren't you supposed to say hello back? I thought that was how greetings went when meeting someone new. Was I wrong," Key asked him while her head tilted slightly to the side. Oh my, it would have been so embarrassing if she had mistaken the proper greetings on Terra.
"Oh no, that's okay. I was just being playful. I hope I didn't hurt you! What's your name. How old are you. Where do you live. Do you come here often. Do you like bathing in the sun like me. What's your favorite color," Key rattled off question after question and truly expected them all to be answered. In her human form, Key didn't realize that another Erutin was on the prowl and attempting to sneak up on the two.
Key held an expression on her face that was reflective of a human child being read a most interesting story. She was fascinated by Kyle
Key held an expression on her face that was reflective of a human child being read a most interesting story. She was fascinated by Kyle's answers and found them immensely intriguing! Green was a good color, yes it was. She agreed but pink was far better, or yellow, or purple. When he asked how to bathed in the sun, Key blinked rapidly in confusion. How could someone not know what bathing in the sun was like! That was ... essential to a beautiful coat! Just as Key was about to explain why one needed to bathe in the sun and how to bathe in the sun, she was pounced upon by another of her kind.
Startled, Key shifted back into her pink panther form, and growled at the assailant. But once the scent hit her nose, Key knew that it was a friend. Rolling around with Grape in the sand, Key attempted to chomp down playfully on Grape's ears and bat at her tail while ears flopped backwards on her great head, tail swishing around violently.
"And I am Key, Light to Lock, and I'm a colonist," the Erutin grinned with pride while sitting there in her human form, something a bit smaller than what she usually shifted into. It was so that Kyle wouldn't feel so discomforted around tall people. "And that, is Kyle. He's seventeen, lives with a girl who thinks she's a wolf, and he likes the color green. Isn't that amazing, Grape!" Key laughed while holding onto her ankles, and once again sitting cross-legged, though this time beside her kin.
Key gasped in shock! He was not Terran but he was on Terra. That left the question of where he came from because it was a big mystery to her. How could one look like a Terran and not be their speci—oh wait, she looked like a Terran too when she wanted. Oops. And to think this young woman was Duchess to an empire.
"Where are you from Kyle!"
Key yelled at him in her excitement to learn about the boy. She didn't mean to but Key really could not help herself. While waiting on his answer, Key shifted her gaze to Grape and grinned at her. They were going to be best friends, she just knew it!
"He doesn't know what a Belkan is, Grape. Everyone knows what a Belkan is so he must be from far far far away, right," Key asked her kin, the Traveler. The Erutin turned her attention back onto Kyle, that smile never wavering from her face. "So you're just a baby human. You're pretty big for a baby human, Kyle!"
Key's expression fell as her kin ran off and as Kyle seemed to get upset. Frowning, Key scooted a little more close to the 'teenager' and said an apology," I'm sorry Kyle, I did not mean to say mean things. I am still learning about humans and things like that. Your species is a complicated one. We Erutins are simple compared to you!"
"Oh," Key exclaimed as her own watch beeped. She pressed a button and frowned up at Kyle. "I have to go. Lock wants me to come back home. I've been gone longer than I should have been. I'm in so much trouble. His dinner is going to be late and he gets cranky when that happens," she said with a sigh before standing up. "It was nice meeting you though, I hope we get to see each other soon. There are lots of questions that I want to ask!"
Key gave Kyle a wave and shifted back into her more natural form of the pink panther before running off down the beach at an alarming speed.
Key had been sitting at a table in the far corner of the room. It was easy to spot Grape entering the bar and Key had ducked beneath the table before she was seen. It was time to play a game! Keeping her Scatterran form, the woman crept beneath the tables and chairs, pausing every now and then to make sure she was not spotted. A grin was splayed across her face and eyes glinted with mischief. Slowly, Key worked her way and she squirmed her way into the booth behind Grape's, trying so hard to not make the leather creek.
Suddenly there as not a Scatterran Erutin sitting in the seat but a great pink panther. Key sunk low in the leather booth, claws puncturing the chair. The cat barely fit in the booth but she was going to make it work! Vivid blue eyes poked from the top of the booth, ears slicked back against Key's skull. And then, with a flick of her tail and a wriggle of her haunches, the large pink feline jumped over and aimed to land right on top of Grape!
Key returned the purrs as well, nipping at Grape's ears. It seemed that this sort of greeting was going to be common when the two were around each other. Last time it had been Grape who snuck up on Key and so it was going to be Grape's turn next. Key would remember and be prepared. Making sure to rub her large cheek against Grape's, Key returned back to her scatterran form, sprawled out on her belly. A simple white dress and slippers appeared in order to remain decent on Terra—which she still didn't understand but was getting used to!
"Hello Grape!"
Key gasped and looked at Grape's twin; the dark. It did not take long for Key to scramble to her feet and throw herself at the twin, hugging him tightly! "Hello Spiral, Grape's Dark! I am Key, Light to Lock!" Laughter filled the room for a few seconds before Grape mentioned something about being best friends. Key whipped her head around with a bright smile on her face.
"Of course we can be best friends! But I don't know for how long. I am a colonist and just passing through Terra. I am going to the Hegemony with Lock!"
"Spiral is a traveler! This is good! Then you can come to the Inner Empire any time you want to visit me!"
Key was rather excited about that fact. It would have been horrible for Grape—her best friend now—to be stuck on Terra with no way to see each other. Then Key's spirits dropped a little bit and she frowned. The empire was gone and Grape did not realize it. Well, Key was not about to burst her happy bubble.
"I am the cousin to the Empress. Mhm. I've never met her though!"
"Hrm, I know. Being Wing Erutin's blood I had to know. Its why I am going to the Hegemony as a colonist. I am supposed to find a mate and Lock too," Key said while looking between the two twins. "Speaking of Lock, he's been gone the whole time I've been on Terra. I don't know where he is!" Tears sprung up into Key's eyes and her bottom lip quivered. It was horrible not knowing where your twin was and it was just ... lonely! He was supposed to protect her and she was supposed to make him dinner. That is how it went! Lock was breaking all the rules!
