Lan Varynus blinked "Oh, it's fine." he said to the man's apology, grinning faintly. "I deserved it, really." he added, running a hand through his hair, flattening one of his ears in the process. The youth perked up slightly at the mention of cakes, however. "Cupcakes, eh? I'm always in the mood for something sugary."

Lan Varynus gave Gamble an amused glance as a cupcake was placed on his head, one of his ears twitching. "Damn things..." he murmured, as it almost knocked the cake onto the floor, only saved by a fumbling grab as it toppled. "I swear, if they aren't the most irritating thing I can imagine..."

Lan silenced himself with a bite of cake, and his eyes widened in surprise. "Mmf! Theshe are good!" he exclaimed through the mouthful, before catching himself and covering his mouth. After a moment and a swallow, he laughed "Oops. Dignified as ever, talking through a mouthful of cake. But jeez, these are great! I've only ever had those bland packet-bought ones from Tesco."

Lan Varynus blinked "Adorable?" he repeated, surprised. The youth smiled faintly, "Thanks, I think. I suppose they aren't all bad..." he murmured, shrugging lightly, the mentioned ears twitching as if conscious of being the centre of attention.

Following Gamble's example, Lan finished off the cake in a few quick bites, "You never know, in a place like this, they might well be! We could start growing any minute now, like Alice in Wonderland..."

Lan Varynus looked down slightly, abashed. "No, it's fine... I mean, you can't really top my social faux pas of the conversation. It just annoys me when I get people fawning over them like fangirls. At least you restrained yourself." he said, grinning "Not that I would have minded too much, it's just often a bit... surprising." he added.

"And I was just kidding! I'm sure-" here Lan consciously restrained himself from commenting on the various connotations of the word 'banging' "- that these are just nice. Grow-cake is less common outside of Wonderland."

Lan Varynus laughed wryly, "Obscenities often feature in my conversations with that sort of person, I have to admit. Though, now that I'm somewhere that eary-type things are more common, I'm quietly hopeful that it'll stop..." he murmured. At Gamble's assurance, the youth laughed again "It's nice to know some people have a sense of propriety! Really, it's like walking up to a woman and groping her breasts... kind of."

"I don't mean... they're not like... that priva- Urgh. You get what I mean, right?" Lan managed, mentally facepalming.

"And nah, I've just read the books. Though that would be fun..."

Lan would continue speaking, after the invitation was laid out. "You never know, up until a while ago I thought that half the stuff you see wandering around this city couldn't possibly be real. I'm sure Wonderland exists out there somewhere, in all the vastness of the Multiverse..."

Lan Varynus blushed lightly as Gamble 'petted' him, having one of those 'What on earth am I doing?' moments. That isn't to say he didn't like it, more that he was rather bemused that he did. Maybe it was an ear thing, most animals seemed to enjoy it. When Gamble stopped, Lan blinked, realising that he'd completely missed what the other had said, being off with the fairies.

"Oh, no, you didn't hurt me. It was, ah... nice, I think. A rather odd sensation, but not unpleasant." he said, smiling back at Gamble. "Heh, you're just messing me around now, 's just ears..."

Lan Varynus barely suppressed a giggle, turning it instead into a muffled snigger behind his palm. "Stop it!" he protested, not serious in the slightest "Honestly, all this flattery's gonna go to my head you know!" he continued, pouting dramatically.

"Hmmph. You'd better be sorry," Lan said as Gamble made the zipping gesture, leaning forwards to poke a finger at the other man's face "Mr smooth charmer, luring me in with all that wide eyed embarassment, only to reveal you're in fact as devious as you are cute!"

And with that, the youth leant frowards those last few inches, and planted a kiss on the other's lips.

Giggling, Lan lay himself down across Gamble's lap, looking up at him with a bright smile. One of his ears twitched as it brushed the other's leg, but after a quick shuffle about the red-haired youth managed to position himself to accomodate for them.

Lan pulled himself upright with a stretch, shuffling over to lean on Gamble's shoulder, gazing into his eyes with concern.

"I don't want to think that I'm causing you worry... I mean, this is all a bit sudden, I can understand you might be concerned about something."
