Luna Whistle's Story

The water was calm and ever and while there were fish biting none of them were nearly as large as the one Zee boasted about. In fact, other than the first Garydos, there hadn't been anything large at all. Some of the sea creatures were flat or slim and some resorted to spraying water or even flinging mud when caught, but they all seemed mostly harmless. But soon a surprise came in the form of a Lapras, head raised to the air crooning happily as she neared until she drifted up alongside the boat and tilted her head examining Cu and Zee.
"Oh hello boys! How is your fishing going?"
Zee folded his arms in addition to having his legs crossed. "The fishing is fine," Zee's helmet answered.
"Oh why don't you ever talk to me in your own voice? I'm sure its very sweet!" was her playful response along with a flap of her wins to splash water at them both.

Cu reclined in his folding chair, his legs resting on the ship railing. His pole resting firmly in hand, not a shiver running through it that could disturb the lure. The sun felt nice on his skin, not too warm, but nice, he was starting to crust over from the briny air, having remained still so long he was beginning to accumulate salt. The fishing had been interesting, if not overly exciting. He thinks idly while flicking his line away from another of the orange, carp like Magikarp. He catches movement out of the corner of his eye just before he hears a familiar croon.
"Well, Hello pretty girl. What can we do for you?" He asks laughing as water splashes across him.

Well that was quite a generous offer, one she would happily take up. "Fish!" she chirped and sang cheerily with another flap of her fins. Her head leaned over the side of the boat sniffing at Cu first then looking up and down for any sort of seafood she might be able to poach from his boat.
"She wants fish," Zee stated, as if it wasn't obvious. But then it wasn't obvious to him, he wasn't used to normal obvious cues.

Cu laughs uproariously at her exuberance. Standing quickly he pulls the live well open, flopping fish after fish onto the deck. One right after the other until there was a small pile of the sorry things feebly flopping around. He grins, giving Zee a thumbs up. "Take as much as you like, pretty girl." It was of little consequence to him. He as after a much bigger prey.
Luna dug in, chomping and snarfing away at the food, scooping it up in her mouth then rocking her head back to let it slide down her throat in the most gobbling of fashions. Zee pulled a face behind his mask and turned aside. "Do you have to eat so much?" he asked unimpressed.
"Well yes I do. Sometimes my Charmeleon friend on land gets into all sorts of trouble and its all I can do to make sure he eats well."
Zee felt his mouth go dry. "Charmel-" he started only for his helmet to cut out.
"Oh yes!" Luna chirped, wading around the boat towards Zee's position, "I share my food with him."
"...Is he friends with a Sandslash in a cowboy hat?"
Luna's head tilted almost curiously.
"Well yes I do. Sometimes my Charmeleon friend on land gets into all sorts of trouble and its all I can do to make sure he eats well."

Picking up on the fish himself he scrapes the scales loose and begins eating the fish raw, not minding the flavor. Sushi was quite good, even if this wasn't quite the same thing. "You should eat as well Zee," Cu calls, not remembering the last time he saw his friend eat.
Smiling good naturedly Cu sits down cross legged on the deck simply content to watch Luna eat. He laughs, "I guess you were hungry." "I prefer bird food..." Zee answered, only to look up at the Lapras who had now circled the entire boat to face him, "I mean, I prefer nuts, seeds..." He was staring at her, eye to eye, feeling uncomfortable.
"Do you know my friends?" Luna asked as she slowly leaned forward until there was a clonk of skull colliding with helmet, "You wouldn't be giving them any trouble would you?"
Zee shuffled uncomfortably. "Cu. Please call your friend off she is making me uncomfortable."

Cu watched the strange byplay between the two mons bewildered. Only being able to understand half of the conversation was bothersome. He really needed to hurry up and learn this language. He laughed as head met helmet. It was clear to anyone the normally unflappable Zee was nervous, though Cu didn't know why. Hearing the pleading in his friends voice Cu sighs before standing, making his way to stand near them. Gently placing his hand on Luna's brow he applies gentle pressure to push her away.
"Alright, alright, give'im some space." He said it while laughing, but their was an undertone of command that was hard to hear and a sharpness to his eyes that wasn't quite revealed.

It as a beautiful sunny day for a weekend and a wonderful time to be out boating. Zee was sat comfortably and cross-legged on Cu's boat staring out over the water, Luna waded around the boat warbling a merry song and the fish were biting like crazy. Something about the heat of the day just had everyone in high spirits and high energy.
"So I caught them," Zee said, breaking his otherwise silence, "But I don't know what my boss is planning to do with them, and I'm not sure I want to know."

The weather was grand. He had multiple lines in the water, and a cold beer in hand. It was a perfect day for fishing. He leaned back into his chair, smiling as he listened to the Lapras that had taken to following him with a grin. Cu grins wryly at Zee's words. Continuing as if it were just normal conversation, Cu says,
"Best not to think too hard about it, I'd say. Fish don't survive too long outside their own environment."

Zee shook his head. "No its not that," he said and sighed as he rose to stand and peered over the edge of the boat, "This entire time I thought I was doing the right thing, like I was the hero in the story, but now that everything is wrapped up in a nice neat bow I feel empty. Wasn't doing something with my life meant to be fulfilling?"
He raised his head up to stare out over the ocean. Luna paddled around to the front of the boat and examined him, then glanced down into the water like she had spied a fish.

Following Zee with his eyes Cu nods sagely. "Everyone is the hero of their own story." He says, almost somber. A complicated look on his face when he mentions 'Heroes'. "Did you ever do what you wanted to do Zee?" He asks. It was a hard question he figured, but eh. He was never one for being overly tactful. "Or was it always at the behest of your boss? What made you want to follow this person in the first place?"
Zee gripped the edge of the boat for a moment and sighed again. "I wanted to belong," he answered, "I just."
His head suddenly swiveled on the spot as he stared back towards land. "I have to go, goodluck with the garydos!" he called as he broke into a run for the back end of the boat and shot off into the air.
"Oh dear," said Luna as she started paddling backwards with her fins as a huge dark shadow in the water started to very rapidly rise.

Looking confused for a second as his eyes following the leaving Zee, his words quickly catch up with him and Cu grins madly. Yelling after Zee as he goes. "Good luck to you!"
Laughing uproariously as the shadow moves towards the surface. Moving quickly he packs in all of his light lines and prepares the heaviest leads he has. Securing them to the boat, and getting rope ready. Starting up his song as he goes. Laughing and singing as he moves across the deck of the ship. Watching to make sure the Lapras is alright.

Luna was perfectly alright, except for the worry on her face as she retreated further and further back down the boat. The crown of the beast broke through the water first, a great red point piercing upwards along with a white fin further down its back. A giant gaping jaw dangled free and open big enough that it could fit the front end of the boat in its mouth, or Luna if she didn't have such a high neck. Water ran in rivets down its body as it closed its mouth and let out an unimpressed snort of air that blew mist over Cu and his ship.
Cu laughs. Standing on the deck staring at the monster. His lines forgotten for the moment. He could think of only one things to say. "I'm gonna need a bigger boat!" Laughing madly at his own quote. He looks on the great beast a curious thought crossing his mind.
A wide grin on his face he asks. "You can understand me?"

The creatures mouth hung open as something churned in its gut. Whether it understood or not was really not easy to tell. But as a pre-emptive strike, Luna's mouth opened and from it arced a light beam that struck across the face of the beast that seemed to do little more than irritate it. It struck back, a torrent of water gushing from its mouth right onto the boat causing it to dip downwards from the force until it swung its head to the side, unleashing the hydro pump at the Lapras instead. Luna was forced back but seemed equally unharmed.
Finally, a roar escaped the beast as its head started to rear back so it could rise even higher in preparation of coming crashing down.

Watching the thing with a grin He's unsurprised as water churns onto the deck of the ship. Trying to wash him away, the fisherman easily keeps his footing, laughing like a madman all the while as water sprays around. "That wasn't a no!" He yells already running back towards the controls of the ship as it rears back. Singing his song loudly he slams is hand down on a red button, jumping from the ship as it disappears in a burst of smoke, turning back into a capsule. Intending to land on the Lapras back.

Luna thought the man was mad, but she had to admit it was a little exciting. The moment he landed on her back she darted to the side as fast as she could, flippers paddling like mad as she curved around the beast which only turned its head around then came crashing down into the water with its full weight. A wave from the impact splashed up over Luna and sent her wobbling back and forth in the water trying to get steady, when suddenly...
The sky went dark. Where the storm clouds had come from was anybodies guess, but one moment it was perfect weather to be out and then the next chilling rain started pouring from the skies. A wave, this time from the other side, slammed into Luna, sending her hurtling back over the path of the Garydos which had yet to emerge again from the water.
