♥MENTALITY ♥
Oddities: ”Curiosity killed the cat” has been Makis motto since she was young. Curious about everything around her, people get sick of her real fast. Rumors about her being nosy,inconsiderate, and much more have spread throughout the school since Freshmen year and stuck there even now that she's a Junior. Not only that, but she is hard-headed with a short temper and sadly gotten used to the fact of not having many friends.

Skills: Maki has a fantastic long-term memory, and is almost considered photographic. Skilled in the arts of drawing. She is a hard-worker with high-pain tolerance thanks to her training as a Hunter for the past 2-3 years. She is good at almost anything artistic…except music. She could not play an instrument to save her life.

Likes: Animals, Music, Art, Italian food, creative things, summer, and stories.

Dislikes: Annoying people, being looked down upon, liars, and boys.

Hobbies: Maki is obsessed with drawing and creating stories in that little head of hers. Almost all her free-time is used to create other people and solving their problems instead of her own.

Phobia: Ever since Maki was a kid, she has had a fear of water beyond her control. She avoids such activities as boating and swimming, and avoids swimming in the deep ocean despite having mastered basic swimming skills. This anxiety commonly extends to getting wet or splashed with water when it is unexpected, or being pushed or thrown into a body of water. Aquaphobia.

Personality:



Those who are close to Maki know that she is a very energetic girl who enjoys hanging out with her friends when she has free time. She is quick temper with her friends and the worst characteristics about her come out the more comfortable she is around someone. She can be insecure because of past experiences when she was young , and often think that others are keeping secrets from her to get rid of her.

However, she is also a caring person, who tries her best to be there for her friends. She is not good with words, so when a friend is sad all she will do is embrace them. Maki loves her friends, but is bad at expressing it.

As for the people who DO NOT know Maki well...they have an entirely different image of her. They have painted a portrait of her as a cold-person who wishes not to get involved in deep relations with others. She is stuck-up and thinks of herself better than the rest because of her grades. They find her rude, uncaring, and awkward. She does not mean to come off this way, even if sometimes it is true that she does not want to be involved with other people. She is just scared of getting close to someone and getting hurt.

Around boys, she is tense and up-tight. Her worst side comes out around them and often times she is caught glaring at them, giving them a look of “get-the-hell-away-from-me.” But... if the boy shows that he has a brain and is not some idiot like all the others…she loosens up a bit and tries to get to know him and treat him like a normal human being instead of an animal.

Maki has many sides to her when she is around people, and when she is not. When she is alone, her true vulnerability and innocent self comes out. She spaces out, dreaming about all kinds of worlds and people. Love. Comedy. Action. Supernatural. Tragedy. Anything you can think.


Also a lot of people don’t notice till getting to know her a bit more, but she is dense when it comes to others feelings and does not catch onto things as fast as others would. She is considered innocent and well in anime terms... a tsundere.

♥ COMBAT ♥

Weapon: Makis father has made her take martial arts since she was 12, and is still taking the classes to this day. She has them twice every week on Monday and Thursday. Due to this, she knows how to use a bit of each weapon, but she likes the staff the most.

Fighting Style: Maki fights only when it involves self-defense, as the rules of Martial Arts states. However, when she does decide to fight back(which doesn’t take much) she focuses on brute strength and targeting the persons weak spot.



Abilities: Maki has a bit of psychic abilities such as telekinesis and visions. Both are not very strong but if she had to say anything about which one was better, her visions are the most outstanding and vivid. Sometimes they even feel real.

♥BACKGROUND ♥

Relationship Status: Single

Family: Maki lives with her Grandfather and Grandmother which is highly refreshing compared to living with her parents. They were so involved in her life and doing everything for her that she never got to do anything for herself.



Personal History:

As a little kid, her Grandmother had always told her the breath-taking stories of the Merfolk and their beauty. Her Grandfather always thought that Grandmother shined when she told these stories. Some of the things that her Grandmother had shared with her were her own encounters and conversations with them. It is also said that her side of the family even had a Mermaid descendant, which would explain Makis powers and strange discolorations. Maki was fascianted and enthralled with these stories but her parents...not so much. It drove them up the wall to the point of moving away to an entirely different city so that they could get away from Grandma and Grandmas "insanity"

After the move, a lot of bad things happened. Around this time was when she had developed into a grouchy child with issues and bad habits. Through the last three years of elementary school and middle school, she had suffered cruel amoutns of bullying no little kid should have gone through. Never had she told her parents about it because she thought they would not even care and in their household talking about problems was forbidden or anything that caused a fight for that matter.



When the clock had struck high school, she went to live with her Grandparents. Her parents had refused at first but somehow Grandfather had convinced them to let her stay with them. She was excited to move back with them and into the old town that held all her precious and pure memories.

At her return, her Grandmother had told her new stories, ones about how she used to be a Hunter, and hunt the Merfolk. She did not hunt them to hurt them or bring them in for experiments like many did, but instead was able to talk with a few even if it was for a short while…and learn about them and their lifestyle and culture. After that, Maki had decided that she wanted to do the same thing.

Now she is in her third year of high school and just recently heard of the news about the sudden development of new Sea Exploration Tech. Excited, she was happy with the possibility of getting to see their world but also sad…because not everyone was like Maki and her Grandmother. Not everyone wanted to live in peace with the Merfolk.
