but still a bum. Disappeared in a puff of orange smoke, and it reeked of alcohol!

He jumped sideways, nearly losing his balance as a whirlwind of what appeared to be pure metal chaos exploded through the door. Eyes replaced with saucers, he stared, mystified, as the blade frenzy spun into a woman. He blinked, and gave his head a small shake, still clutching the wall for dear life.

He eyed the room out of the corner of his eye as he crossed to the bar. There on the ground was a bottle he should best avoid if he didn't want to trip, was it rolling around on its own? Hmm..

Silently, he turned facing forward fully towards the bar, drumming his fingers on the bar top. Life seemed to be breathing back into this place. He was undecided in opinion on it.

He looked around, and pinpointed the sound to be coming from none other than that bottle from earlier. Strange, he thought to himself. Merph wondered if he should examine it.

Perching, he was, on the edge of a cliff, listening to the murmur of the valley below. The trees were speaking to him, whispering promises of paradise and sweet illusions. Gently, he swung his feet over the valley, the tips of pines tickling his seemingly large feet. They seemed to be getting heavier, but he barely noticed for the valley was growing more beautiful. Literally, the leaves that lined the stark blue river were blushing, transforming the valley into a fiery sea. It was practically singing to him now, the valley, and he reached forward towards it. Reached, reached, and suddenly he tumbled forward off of the rock. It was as if he was perched on the cloud, he had such a long way to fall. He fell, down towards the earth, down, down, faster, faster-

Nyeh-guh!
He banged his knees on the table as he erupted from his dream. Practically gasping for air, he looked wildly around the bar, then back at his limbs, examining his hands. They were so big, and heavy! But that was in the dream.

Calm down, he told himself, and signaled for a shot. Shifting back and stretching his legs, he flicked his eyes over to the bar, wondering to hell what time it was.

Unmushing his hat, he speculated about the time. It couldn't be too late, or this place would be packed. It wasn't too early, there were no spillovers left from the night before.

Glancing back towards the bar again, he noticed a slight change of atmosphere. A white collar redhead, it looked, had joined the crowd at gambits. Hm, he couldn't help but smile, as he watched the guy order a drink.

Jamming the hat on his head, he leaned forward over the table, drumming his fingers, darting glances back at the only other living soul in the establishment.

Oh feck, he darned himself, the guy caught him looking! With a sigh, he bounced in place, drumming on the table and tapping at the floor. Here comes my shot, he lowered his hat to shade his eyes, smiling at the approaching torso and legs bearing a bottle and a glass.

"You read my mind," He grinned up, downing the shot and slamming the glass on the table. Pouring himself another shot, he wondered what to do. He was awfully bored. After another three gulps, Phinny decided it was right about time to approach the other guy, and he slapped on a cheerful grin.

"Afternoon, or is it still morn'?" He slid onto the bar stool next to the ginger haired stranger. Flashing a cheesy grin, he placed the bottle of alcohol on the bar top. The guy was downing his drink, which made Merphin smile even wider. Seems he had stumbled across another partier, like himself!

poured himself another shot, and signaled for a second glass. He wasn't about to let this guy get away!

Hmmm... The guy wouldn't even look at him. Pouring a second shot, Merphin slid it towards the guy. Simultaneously, he reached a hand up and slithered it behind the guy's ear. Snapping his fingers, he jerked his hand back, now holding a blank playing card.

His eyes widened, as he shot a look around the bar. Eyeballing everyone else, he speculated the evil that could potentially lurk inside their noggins. They could be killers! Or worse...

"Nowhere at all?" Phinny raised an eyebrow at her, before turning to address the bartender. Smiling brightly at the two shots, he reached into his suit coat pocket. Unzipping a pocket, he rummaged inside for some currency. Closing his hand around a bunch of the stuff, Phinny fished it all out of the pocket. He winked at the bartender as he slid the money towards him.

He sighed along with Anya, imagination taking off at the word 'princess'

"You're Royal Highness majesty," He pronounced as his grin crept from ear to ear, "Princess Anya! Of what may I ask?" He flashed his eyes at her, before spinning on his seat to face the bartender. Throwing his wrists in the air, he grabbed up the shots, moving one towards Anya and whisking up the other.

"Cheers!" He said, winking at the bartender, and downing the shot. As the liquor poured down his throat, a warmth spread over him. Phinny put the shot back on the counter.

"Another shot, good man?" he asked the bartender as he dug through his pocket for more money.

Phinny closed his eyes and rocked his head back in a nod of understanding. Italian Mafia, it made perfect sense now! Smiling, he watched as she knocked back her shot, then flicked his gaze to the bartender.
What a neat trick!

Ohoho! "Touche!," He said, eyeballing the bottle. Picking up his shot, he held it to the air, toasting to nothing in particular and knocking it back. Out of the corner of his ear, he heard the words "leper colony and all you can eat bar," and did his best not to choke on the laughter that bubbled in his throat.
