It takes a sword to make a point, but a hammer to drive it home.

Lord Millicent Bale marched through the forest, the weight of his armour barely felt in stark contrast to that of the mighty hammer he held in his grasp. He had been hunting for any scourge of this plane that might claim itself king. He loathed such creatures and sought to end the very lot of them.

However he would not be unkind to those who deserved mercy, and many times would he lay his hammer aside. He was a Lord after all. A fine one at that. His current prey had been a batch of bandits, as ever it was, who had grown too famous to be left untouched.

Their fame reached ears where Bale's did not; the people. And soon his fame would come to rise in the eyes of all.

Bale seemed about to rest, actually lowering the head of his mallet down to the ground so that he might take a break, only to catch a noise and spy the elf aiming for him. "Reveal thyself," he barked at once, sharp eyes locked onto the man, "Lest my hammer find your skull when your arrow has failed to strike through my plate."

He thumped a gauntlet-wearing hand on his armour to demonstrate his bold boast, a metal 'thump thump' coming from his chest.

He raised one metal boot to the top of his metal hammer head, seeing that the enemy was not one to fire on mere threats. They were not a bandit. "I am Lord Millicent Bale, a lesser Lord of these lands, and a hunter of the foul quarry that plagues all lands. Any who would lay false claim to the land I will administer punishment."

"Who do speak with? An elf, I spy? Yes, I have sharp eyes." He tapped at his cheek idly.

"No, but my hunt is twofold in purpose. To purge the lands of this evil and to make a name for myself, to invoke the fear in the hearts of those who would wrong me or others." He left his hammer, walking towards the elf, but it was obvious that should he need to, he had fists that could just as well do a lot of damage.

He offered out a hand to demonstrate he had no other weapon. "Do you call yourself of these people, or are you a elf from another land?"

"I claim only the lands of my family, and the lands I inherit through marriage or tragic loss of life. It is a service to the people that I act on these purges. Tell me," he said, shaking the mans arm before letting his own fall and turning to head back to his hammer.

"Do you know of any evils that we might strike down this day?"

Millicent Bale grasped idly at the edge of his hammer and nodded. "I understand," he stated simply, "Please, lead the way. I could use a tavern after skulking through these woods for the day. I happened upon bandits earlier, but the weight of my armour meant I was unable to give chase I had desired."

Lord Bale marched in behind him, a lesser noble from the nearby lands that was the son of a man everyone thought dead for a while, until they had come to claim his property only to find he owned his fathers land, and would not be removed.

Now he marched to take a seat with the elf, eyeing up the multiple patrons of the bar.

"You cannot convict a man without proof," he grunted. "Blood could be anything. A man in the street. A pig for his families breakfast. Nor can I condemn revelry." He hailed the wench down and ordered an ale, tossing a coin to the woman to pay for that and a meal. He seemed to be making efforts to avoid looking at her and her sways of beauty.

Lord Millicent Bale, a title he did not hold lightly, entered Gambit's Bar, fully armoured with a great warhammer over his right shoulder, handle clutched in both hands. He was an imposing and intimidating figure at the worst of times. At the best he could be downright frightful, with a massive bellowing voice to match his physique.

He moved not for the bar or table, but for the stage located to one end for performers and entertainers. He stood atop it, staring at the bar patrons for a moment. They had their own business and while he did not wish to take their time, he felt his intrusion worthy. "People of the bar, may I have your attention for a moment," he spoke, loud voice easily carrying the back reaches of the bar.

Lord Bale stared long and hard at the showing of violence. He had no stock on the situation, but he still disapproved. "I am opening an Academy for Heroes, a place for people to test whether they are heroic or if they are... An anti-hero." He spoke the word with distaste, but acted as if he was the authority on such things. Really presumptuous.

"Additionally and unrelated, I will be running a club for combat, a 'Fight Club', for the experienced and inexperienced." His eyes locked onto Jayden and Derek, as if judging them, but at the same time like they would even notice...

You could almost see the anger in Millicent's eyes as he lowered the hammer to the ground with a heavy thump. He stepped from the stage towards Jayden and Derek, metal gauntlets curling. "If you wish to learn combat or just wish to fight I can provide such an option."

He was closing in on the two men, nodding his head towards the talk of undead machines. But it had little relevance to what he spoke of.

Lord Bale turned and raised a hand to Sonya. "There is no need for the authorities to get involved. This is a small dispute," he insisted, still pursuing the two. "An altercation which can be resolved with words, not threats or violence." His voice as authoritative as Sonyas. Being a lord came with the cocky attitude.

"That's Lord Bale," he corrected Sonya, letting the comment slide off of him. "Is paying in blood and bruises not enough? The only people harmed were they." There was some subtle contempt for the law coming off here. Bale just came from an older time. A time where sorting out your differences with fists was acceptable, just out in the street.

'Lord' Millicent Bale, as he insisted on being called, entered the Guild Hall with a perpetual scowl on his face. Dressed in heavy plate armour it was easy to see he was a physically mighty man. He was tall and able to wield the warhammer that rest on his back with great strength. His jaw was firm and his eyes stern, like an unshakable mountain.

But as he approached the centre of the room he halted and turned, eyes drifting from wall to wall, door to door, as if trying to pick which direction to go.

Lord Bale raised his guantletted hand to point a lone finger for the only other individual nearby. "You there," he spoke towards Drahn, adjusting the weight of his hammer on his back but leaving it there, "Do you know this place well?" His hand dropped and he rolled his shoulders. The man would not admit it, but he was lost.

Bale's shoulders shook with amusement which spread to his features. "Drahn Bord'el, son of Yavik and Sentry, I am Lord Millicent Bale of the nine-eyed order, son of the man who founded it. If you would aid my direction out of here, I would willingly offer to buy you a drink." But the moment he stopped speaking his sour expression returned, as if his face was set as such.

Bale moved to fall in line with the dwarf, grunting and only offering; "The length of my legs will more than make up for the weight of my weapons and armour." But his voice sounded in good humour, albeit gruff. Perhaps it was that he enjoyed the company of what looked to be a fellow warrior? Hard to say.

The man came to a halt once more, turning his head towards his new dwarven companion and nodding. "Of course," he stated, "I would not expect one to go without the protection he needs in these dark times." He turned to head towards the armoury with an attempt to spark up conversation. "Are you a soldier?" he asked.

The comment of 'home planet' did not seem to phase Lord Bale. "Someday the fighting ends, Drahn." It sounded like words of experience, ironic since he was probably younger than the dwarf. He was certainly not an old human, with only the smallest of lines crinkling his head even when he scowled. "It is my goal to see an end to the conflict that plagues all worlds."

Bale's brow lowered as his mouth raised. "Young... I am," he answered, turning away from the armoury and heading on for the door. "My father was an idealist, Drahn. He gathered his allies and friends from a time gone to slay a Beholder, thus starting the nine-eyed order. I wish to follow in his steps and put an end to what evil I can, with my fists if I must."

He suddenly grew more sober, which almost seemed ironic in comparison to the casual way he spoke of his likely dead father. "If I do not remain idealistic, then what hope does this world have?"
