"How interesting," said the cyborg, narrowing her eye and allowing the lens to swipe across the entire diagram. The image was stored into a computerized database that linked to her brain. She would remember the entire thing in detail until she deleted the file. "I work with hoverbikes constantly." She said, getting up from her seat and moving closer to him. "I build them. I suspect you do, as well?" She asked. She normally did software, though the workings of the bikes is something she knew by heart and soul.

"And I gather you want help with that," she said, blinking her eye once. Something of a smile flashed across her face, though it vanished too quickly to be seen. "There is a gang here, one called Gadget, that deals with hoverbikes. It is my own gang. We have both the technology and the intelligence to put one of these together," she informed him, reaching out to tap the paper.
"And we rarely ask for payment. Creating bikes is a sort of hobby for us. More than that. It is out purpose. That and a few other things." She said.

"What is your name, sir? I am Naria Walker." She held out her hand to him. The mechanic one.

Yes, there was a catch, but there wasn't anything that would be of great price to Kale. At least, Naria wouldn't think so. Usually, it wouldn't hinder most people. It was just a thing of pride. "It is nice to meet you, Phoenix," she said, then putting her hand back down. He had chosen to ignore it, it seemed. Maybe the mechanical parts didn't sit well enough with him.
"I see it corresponds with the symbol. I noticed that when you first walked in. If you will allow me to inquire further, what does it mean? Or is it just a brand?"

"I see. You must be a hero in some part of the word. Or another world. Research has shown that there are more than a million separate universes out there. Some crazy man said to me once that they were all connected. Called it the 'multiverse.'" She said to him, shaking her head, almost laughing. "So, about this bike...are you very much intent on having it made? It is a beautiful design."

"How badly?" She asked. She needed to know. There was no point in making the bike if he wasn't going to take care of it. "Tell me you are not going to simply take it for a joy ride. Tell me you aren't going to be reckless and crash it without a care. I want to know that you will care for it. Care for it like you would a person." She gave him an intent look, even the lens staring at him strangely.

"I want to know that I wont be doing this for nothing."

"Good." Said Naria, sitting straight and folding her arms in thought. "And trust me, shall I find the technology demolished or otherwise because of sheer recklessness, I will not be the first to have your head, though I will try." Not the catch, but the threat was healthy.

"The catch? Allow Gadgets symbol to be labeled on the back of your bike."

Was that...it?

"Advertisement." She simply said. "We're recruiting members. If we put up enough notices, maybe a few people would take a gander at it." That seemed to sum it all up. The woman's demands were simple, yet behind them was something that would help Gadget immensely. More numbers meant more supplies, defense, and workers. This was good.

"So, do you agree? There are many places we can fit the symbol. We can get very creative. Though, I have to say, using rockets is a tad bit old, though we shall comply. Our own members use force lifters."

This time, the woman had to let out the softest, lightest laugh. So he didn't get the drift. She saw. "Not hard to do. We can...up the lifters so that they can lift over buildings." Oh, what the Tornado would think of this if she'd heard it. "When would you like this to be done? We have...plenty of time now that inspections are over."

"Well, I suppose the name 'hoverbike' can become misleading. The fact is that they don't just hover from the ground a few feet. They hover above buildings. Above skyscrapers, even. They can also go much, much higher than that," she said, thinking fondly of her own bike. It was small and much more compact than others, but it was agile, able to do maneuvers that no Runner or Scout bike could even dream of trying.

"All the time in the world? Then you choose the time. It is your bike, after all."

"Very well. Is this the only diagram? If there are more all I need to do is have a glance." She tapped the device on her head. "When people tell you I have a 'photographic' memory, it is quite literal." She took her normal, fleshy hand and traced the rim of the cup, looking, as intent as ever, at Kale.

"Very well. This will give Tommy and Cortez something to grin about. They are the other mechanics." She said, taking the more artistic drawing and scanning it. She would be able to make a piece-by-piece holographic model of this that night. Things would be perfect. "Would you like to watch as we do this? This entails you coming to camp. Don't worry about being an outsider or anything of the sort. We have grown to accept a very wide variety of citizens." She looked to him, now scanning his face.

"You are distant. Is there a reason for this?"

Naria stared at him for a good long while. The tone of his voice probably had a sort of tenseness to him. The cyborg observed the eyes of the man, as if trying to compute little hints from them and place it together like a puzzle. Alas, there were not enough pieces yet to make a full picture. Not even the edges were shaped out. The urge to pry was great, but Naria had astounding self control.

"I understand. I will not ask anymore. However, I do need to know if you will be accompanying us. I am sure meeting the other mechanics could not bruise anything. My own bike is outside if you accept."

"Very good." Said Naria, grinning now. Very contrary to her earlier demeanor. She had achieved something, and that was getting him to come along. They liked meeting their clients. She got up and beckoned him over, eye squinted in her excitement. "Follow me. It is right outside." She said, walking calmly out the door.

As Naria walked outside, she would glance at her bike, which was parked not far from the doors. She drew something out of her collar, exposing a long chain connected to a key. It wasn't a very ordinary key, either. It was a piece of flat plastic connected to a thin, cylindrical piece of metal that was as long as her thumb.

The bike itself wasn't anything like the diagram on Kale's paper. It was small and round, and looked similar to a cityscooter. All with the exception of the seats and the fact that there were no wheels. The seat was big enough for two people, and leaned forward, with the handles to the side of the machine, instead of on the inside. She boarded it, digging the key into a hole inside the interface, which was lined with complicated machinery. The machine began to let out a slight sigh.

"Ready? Get behind me and hang on tight."

"Oh, please," said Naria, taking his hands and pulling him closer to her. He might have noticed that half of what he was hanging onto wasn't soft and fleshy. "Parts of my body are constructed of a bulletproof metal strung together with bits of plastic. You wont have to worry about hurting me." She placed her hands onto the handles, revving the acceleration panel. Instantly, the force lifters on the bottom of the bike began to separate. They were four, glowing blue rings on the bottom of the bike, using magnets to float away from one another midair. The bike began to rise.

"And you're going to need to hang on very tightly."

The bike shot forward without warning, barely making a sound give for the eternal sigh the engine let out. They flew high, soaring over buildings and toward the sky.

The ride lasted just five minutes. No more, no less. They broke through the clouds, decending upon the rather colorful headquarters of Gadget. Bordering on the edge of the broken, worn ruins of Wing City, the plethora of tents were dotted and many below them.

They landed at the parking circle, which was filled with hundreds and hundreds of different types of bikes. Round, small hacker hoverbikes, heavily armored ones, others with so much technology that it looked like it could hardly lift itself. Naria hopped from her bike, then extended her hand to help Kale off. Wait...wasn't that supposed to be the other way around?

The tents were all positioned in such a way that they made a maze of winding alleyways and roads. As they walked past them, Kale would observe a wide variety of people and...machines. As they passed a bright blue tent, a man with a red mohawk hefted a large engine onto a table. His neighbor, a woman with bubblegum, neon pink skin had her legs stuck in what seemed to be prototype robot feet, using two controllers grasped in her hands to try and move them forward.

"Sorry if things are a little messy. I know that screwdrivers and disks and scraps of metal do not look too attractive, but this is how it looks a few days after Inspection Day." She told him, "Well...at least, a little bit less messy."

She stopped, looking back at him. "Something wrong?" She asked, noting his...was this tenseness? She suspected so. She looked into his eyes, the lens locking onto the blue, glowing pupils. "Phoenix, I-"

"I am...so sorry," said Naria, giving Kale an apologetic look. She combed her hair with her robotic fingers and put the same one on the girls shoulder. "This is Tora. She's the main troublemaker int he group. She is nicknames Tornado for a reason." She drew the girl back, veering. "She is a bit outgoing."

The Tornado looked at her, as if disappointed. "Hey! He doesn't mind! Right?" She said, looking to Kale. She tried to manage pleading eyes.

"No...no...it was...news..." she said, her words faltering. It wasn't quite scary. Well, in a way, it was, but at the time time it was glorious. She shook her head, gleeful, bountiful laughter leaving her lips. This was strange for Naria. The woman almost never, never laughed aloud. Even the occasional smile, save for today, was hard to pull from her. Several Gadget members looked to to stare in surprise.

"Come, come, this way. It was neither."

They would come to a very large, square tent (though all of them were very large and very square) and inside were loud bangs and the sounds of drills. "This is the workshop. We have another positioned elsewhere, but this is easier, as it is closer to home."

Inside, there was a very large machine in the middle; a half-built hoverbike, one that had been planned to have extra shielding and an extra round of artillery built to it. This was going ot be a difficult job, as the shielding and guns had to be light enough to allow the bike to fly. Combatant bikes were the hardest to build. Small, spherical, hovering robots with three or four optics and two long arms flew around and got to work on the bike, using complicated pieces of machinery and a round of tools to built it.

"This is where we shall be building your bike. Again, it is quite messy, but it can be cleaned up in seconds. These robots are of my own making. I can control them from the chip within my headset. I monitor progress until the bike is done."
