A tall samurai with short black hair. He wears two swords at his hip and has a large scar crossing his lips from chin to ear. His brown eyes resemble a hawks, but his manner is generally genial.
Okita Soji is not a ronin only in name. he is masterless in every sense of the word. He refuses to live his life following another man's orders, but rather wishes to shape his own destiny. This is what drives him to become the number one swordsman in the world. He has his own sense of honor, and it is not beneath him to trick his opponent using words or some foul play. As long as he is alive and his opponent dead, then the winner is clear in his eyes.
That being said, he has a kind nature, and is generally very genial to strangers. He is especially kind to children, whom he plays and jokes with. He follows his instincts which have gotten him this far, though he may be stubborn to stick with them. Although he can be talkative he get's lapses of isolation where he will sit back and watch as others go about. These have become a sort of mediation to him, and he likes to believe they have made him wiser.
He carries with him a katana called "Kaga" and a wakizashi. The katana's tsuba (hand guard) is decorated as a flower petal. He wears traditional samurai class clothing, although it's quality is poor and it is well worn. He carries with him the necessary tools to polish and keep his blades. Hiding in his clothing, near his upper breast, lies a western pistol that he won in a fight while on one of his travels. He calls the gun "Ikazutchi". He carries a bag of gunpowder and bullets with him. He also carries a pouch containing an assortment of Japanese coins, which give him enough to get by, although he has to pull odd jobs for money often.
Soji was born to a low-level samurai family. As he grew up, his father admitted him to Tennen Rishin Ryu dojo where he excelled due to natural talents. He defeated the teacher of another school when he was twelve and when he turned fifteen he left the school to travel against the wishes of his father and the school. Upon leaving he took with him his family's heirloom, the katana named "Kaga".
In his travels he came upon a large port town while a foreign western ship was docked. Using his charm and some gambling he won himself a spot on this ship and sailed to foreign lands. He spent three years traveling outside of japan and learned a bit of many languages and customs. It is during these years that he obtained "Ikazutchi", his self-named western flintlock pistol. It is one of his prized possessions and he has no qualms about using it as a trump card in fights.
He has spent the last year in Japan attempting to make himself famous. However his future travels have not yet been decided, he may yet go back to the foreign lands, or he may stay in Japan and attempt to rise to the top.
