Robert Archer leaned from the side of the building to glance at the vehicle just around the corner. Archer's focus was drawn upwards to the sky, however, as the deep drone of ODI Drop-Pods. Archer began to make a final check of his rifle as he turned back to the Jumper. "You said you wanted the 605th?" Archer grinned widely. The first eight drop-pods impacted in a large circle around the tavern, one of the first drop-pods collided with the vehicle and a flowering explosion erupted as the pod smashed the vehicle into the ground. "Time to kick some ass ... " Archer barked.

Robert Archer crouched as he pulled himself from cover, the vehicle exploding in a fireball as the drop pod impacted; not before it shot a glancing drop-pod from the sky which foiled and exploded in the woods in the distance somewhere, though. The Jumper followed behind Archer with their rifles leveled forward as the sheer face exploded from the side of the pod, the four-member team quickly evacuating the churned wreckage of their drop. "Lieutenant Archer ... I'd be damned if I ever seen you again!" The Jumper yelled, the three men behind him quickly preparing their weaponry.

Robert Archer quickly waved the bolstered numbers of the ODI onward, and the six-man group quickly took up positions along the back wall of the tavern, adjacent to the wrecked IFV. "What do we have on the ground?" Archer inquired, his eyes peeking around the edge of the wall as the Sergeant beside him spoke. "You got eight drop-pods delivered, thirty two Jumpers should be runnin' amuck around here." He returned, Archer grunted lightly and then nodded.

Robert Archer returned the yell with a scowl, he drew the ODI Jumper close to him with his hand wrapped around the lip of the Jumpers chest plate. "You guys fall from the sky?" Havok inquired, his voice filled with anger and resentment. The Jumper struggled against Havok's grip, wrapping his hands around the Azricans forearms and grunting. "Damn right we did -- we were trailing your sorry ass, Havok!" The Jumper returned, the filament screen vanishing over his helmet and revealing the gruff face of the Oriyak.

Robert Archer pushed the Jumper backwards, the Oriyak tumbled from Havok's grip and landed on the soft dirt outside of the tavern. Anyone sending a glance out the window would witness the Azrican draw the magnum from his hip and aimed directly for the Jumpers chest. The soldier quickly drew his own handgun, brandishing the MH-7 just in time for Havok to discharge a single round into the Jumpers chest. Armor exploded with the hit and a puff of foam escapd the hole bored by the hole as the Jumper slumped against the ground; a low groan washing through the Jumpers throat.

Robert Archer folded his arm upward, attempting to press his fingers to the communication link atop the helmet as the ODV bounced and jarred in it's fiery decent to the planet's surface. "November-One to all Novembers, Drop-Up." The Lieutenant barked; save for the eight ODV pods plummeting from orbit, there was to be two squads of Coalition Marines to greet the platoon of ODI once they made contact with the ground. The ODV's rocketed from the sky, long flames trailing from their tail ends before the first collided with the ground in a spectacular show of light and sound.

Robert Archer was jolted as the ODV struck with the ground; the delivery-vehicle quickly crashing downward and falling horizontally into the dirt. The impactive force would have torn apart any other system that dropped a metal box full or armed and angry soldiers onto the surface of some godforsaken planet. The Marine squads situated around the break in the tree-line would be given a front-row seat to the explosive entrance. Several seconds upon impact, Archer was smashing his hand against the pressure-release on the main hatch of the vehicle. The door erupted from it's latching that secured it from the remainder of the craft. The three other ODI Jumpers were quickly behind him as the darkness of the planet flooded their visors. "Touch-down, Jumpers." The Lieutenant barked as he exited ODV.

Robert Archer waved aside, his leg propped up atop the ejected doorway of the ODV. Several of the Jumpers quickly pulled their helmets from their heads, revealing mottled bandannas or their darkened, stubby haircuts. Archer still retained his own helmet, giving him the appearance of a dark sentinel as the moonlight glinted against his jet-black armor. Waving his hand to the side, the Lieutenant would cock one head to the side. His visor viewed the world occupied by the Marine Lieutenant and another soldier quickly followed, Archer spoke abruptly. "Lieutenant Archer, 605th. You the Ground-Beaters that're bringing the big guns?" He was, of course, speaking of the heavy-caliber machine guns and the grenade launchers which several of the Marines were to be equipped with.

Robert Archer nodded rapidly, the moonlight shimmering around the plate-work of his helmet. "Precisely put, Lieutenant." Archer spoke before crouching low and readying his rifle, the MR-17 pressed tightly against his chest as the eleven other Jumpers prepared their weaponry and advanced against the tree-line toward the remaining Marines. Regrouping in the tree-line, Archer barked for the Lieutenant to swing to the flank with the second squad. Archer would take one team of four Jumpers, leaving the rest with the other Marines, and take Bravo Squad. As Bravo Squad and Archer's Team formed up, the group prepared to strike for the tavern. This group contained one Corporal Issac Stone, who was to follow directly behind Archer.

Robert Archer cursed beneath his breath as his HUD dimmed along his helmet, often a sign that a light source had been detected by the on-board sensors. "Take cover, Azrik's!" Archer barked with a low, commanding voice as he quickly sped the beating of his legs. Approaching his selected cover, Archer quickly threw his lower-body forward and leaned his torso back. What he achieved, was a powerful slide that brought him behind the toppled tree-trunk of an uprooted oak. Had Corporal Stone followed him, he would have either been forced to replicate this move, or simply dive to the side.

Robert Archer was quick in his reaction, throwing his arm up and issuing his orders to the Marines and Jumpers behind him. "Check the light, weapons free." He returned, his voice was stalwart and imposing. He rarely had to raise his voice to communicate effectively over the communications-link established by the over-watch system in orbit. "Marine, name and rank." Archer demanded, the Corporal could easily feel the Lieutenant's cold eyes prying at the Corporal's mind.

Robert Archer cut away whatever response he was planning to return as the first of the Jumpers opened fire. Their MR-17's slung at their hips as they embanked themselves against a slight knoll. Obviously their thermal imaging had already divulged the location of the light source, and in seconds the soldier would be barraged with high-velocity shells. A mottled groan of pain came form the enemy combatant as Archer quickly pulled himself up. The squad of nine Marines behind both Archer and Stone quickly moved up to press the assault, weaponry barred and prepared to fire. "Keep that finger steady with that GLM, Corporal."

Robert Archer threw his hand forward as the fire erupted into a far larger volume. "Tear 'em up!" Archer boomed, in a split second the loud howl of the Marine Lieutenant cracked the airways. "Kick 'em down, Marines!" The Lieutenant barked as a HAR, or heavy-magnetic rifle, opened up on the clearing. The cumbersome rounds of the 15mm slugs would easily defeat the powered armor provided by the Chinese. Even as Archers Group was at a disadvantage, this new addition would hopefully turn the tides of the fight.

Robert Archer was stunned at the discharge of the Gavin, the streaking rocket un-guided rocket went screaming through the air and impacted against the side of the airship as it plummeted to the ground. Archer quickly threw himself back into cover; to the side somewhere, a Marine shouted as a bullet tore through his leg and dropped him to the ground.

Robert Archer was the first to respond; in the lull in combat several of the Marines and Jumpers had drawn themselves into whatever cover they could manage. The Coalition Infantry was aligned in a semi-circle, more akin to a crescent, against those who identified themselves as the "Chinese". With the two groups broken by the shattered wreckage of the gunship. "Don't respond, Azrik's ... " He ordered of the Com-Link.

Robert Archer was abruptly drawn back into reality as a Jumper broke the silence of the communications-link. "Archer, this shit's fixing to get pretty fuckin' bad ... " Jasper returned, the veteran Jumper had fought alongside Archer in this theatre for months. "Agreed, Lieutenant." Another Jumper inferred, Archer cursed beneath his breath. "Get ready for a firefight, Azricans." Archer commanded. The crisp "Ooh-Rah" of the Marines and Jumpers alike flooded the communications channel.

Robert Archer knew when a situation was FUBAR, and this was pretty fuckin' FUBAR. "We're pulling back, Marines." Archer commanded. Thrusting his hand forward, he barked out his orders as the team back to retreat. The Lieutenant across the battlefield would comply, and quickly lay down a blanket suppressive fire with that HAR.

Robert Archer narrowly avoided a massive explosion of his flank, his HUD winking to life as the spent and destroyed shell impacted nearby. No kinetic energy was released in the blast, whatever saved the did it in the nick of time. "Archer -- Those were nuclear warheads, we need to get the fuck out of here now!" A Jumper barked, the remaining fifteen Marines and Jumpers would retreat to the field where the ODV's had landed.

Robert Archer regrouping at the ODV's, Archer quickly replaced his MR-17 with an M56 Lashkav PDW. Steadying it against the tree-line, Archer barked into his headset. "Ground Control, we need Evac ... I want an aruka here now."

Robert Archer barked loudly, his aged features shimmering in the light of the tavern's patio-lighting as he ordered the Alpha Team to form up on their newest commander, one Sergeant Issac Stone. "Sergeant Issac Stone, this is Bravo Team." He returned, forcing his hand upward to convey the four Coalition Marines now placed under his command.
