A man with searing green eyes glowering with hate, tan skin and short white hair. He wears a long mage's robe decorated with mystic symbols only the adept can hope to understand.
Seth is at first glance a hateful and spiteful man, he shirks conversation unless the person has some merit to his current scientific investigations and even then the conversation is limited to his own terms. He regards all with his cold veneer of malice and selfishness, but sometimes for whatever reason, he will interfere on someone's behalf. No one is sure why this is. Some have speculated that he has a good heart, but a far more likely reason is that he needs the person for some favor or study. When he does interfere he looks almost heroic, as if at one time he did it for a living.
The Armor of Night: Seth has a specialty mage's cloak that he made himself. He has altered the cloth with magic and alchemy so that it transforms into a light battle armor when struck. It also has many wards on it that do a variety of things. The first is a ward that converts most bladed damage to blunt trauma. The second ward is one that creates a small but powerful burst of energy that is used to misdirect attacks just a centimeter off target but if he concentrates he can sustain the burst as a solid stopping force field but he can only do this if he concentrates fully. The third ward is an illusion that creates the semblance of himself wounded and incapacitated on the floor while he sneaks off using magic spells.
The Staff of Anubis: This staff is empowered by some extra-planar being who claims to be a god and has taken hold of Seth. This staff has the ability to stop most attacks without breaking. If it does break, it reassembles itself randomly again. To anyone untrained, the staff looks like a simple walking stick that he has picked up off the ground.
The Crown of Chaos: The small silver circlet is always worn by Seth but it has a permanent invisibility spell on it, not of Seth's making. It keeps track of Seth and empowers his magical abilities in times of need, activating his scars and transforming his body.
Seth's Backpack: Seth wears a small satchel on his back which contains his writing materials and his basic alchemy set in which he uses to brew potions and empower objects. He is very attached to the satchel itself and does not tell anyone why.
Seth grew up in a small island town. This town's culture was particularly primitive and savage. They worshiped gods that fell from the stars and sacrificed people to their idols. They had a primitive system of magic but were ignorant of the ways of the world. Seth was a peaceful poetic boy who was ignored most of the time since he was off looking at nature and admiring the women of the town. He never went to the worship ceremonies and never partook of the sacrifices. He was not particularly good at anything except writing poetry.
Rumors started that if he did not worship, the entire village would burn and suffer. As a result the village grew to hate and fear Seth for the simple fact that Seth showed a resolve not to worship. The high priest of the community denounced Seth publicly and said that the gods of the stars screamed for him to be sacrificed. Seth's own family turned him in while he was sleeping.
When Seth was adorned with the sacrificial circlet and the sacrificial robes, his blue eyes turned green with magical power, he screamed in mental agony as the alien god's mind merged with his. The people frantically ran and branded him with the sacred symbol to seal away his powers but for some reason they only made his screams louder, and his thrashing's grew more powerful. The sky darkened and the stars were shown to be in alignment. Great falling stars fell from the sky and set fire to the village. Seth broke the chains and cracked the great stone altar to the god. He reached out and lifted the high priest with his mind, and sent the priest to his doom with an implosion of dark spectral energy. He proceeded to kill each person in the village absorbing their life essences, making him stronger. When the carnage was fully accomplished, he knelt down and wept.
Seth then found rather quickly that whatever their god was, it wasn't human, and nor was it something that loved him or any other human. It hungered for essences, and as a result so did he. He hungered and he set abroad to find his new type of sustenance. Over time he consumed many villages, his morals crumbled under the necessary evils he had to commit to live. Finally he accepted what he had become and dedicated himself to the study of how magic worked and how to further use this unique bond that had been forged with this entity.
