The roars of an engine echoed down Main Street, and down it, the source of the noise.

It was a motorcycle.

It was, most likely, unlike any motorcycle anyone had seen before. It had two large wheels, lined with liquid neon that glowed in the darkness that settled down onto Wing City. That was not where the oddness began, however. It was that the vehicle seemed to be combined with skin and bone, and the track forks resembled paws grasping either side of the wheels to keep it in place. The hood looked like the head of a large, fearsome cat.

The rider? Wearing a long black coat that bellowed back into the wind.

The riding seemed to be smooth, for the most part. However, the ATW, who had seen few people since they had first come to town, finally spotted something of interest.

It happened very suddenly, the next few events. The motorcycle suddenly veered tot he right, then aimed straight for Azric Cane. The back paws that held the wheels suddenly detached themselves from it and pushed off the ground, sending the vehicle into the air.

As it soared, the ATW transformed. The wheels receded into its chest, the head extended, and all four paws reached out to brace its landing as it came to a dull thump in front of Azric.

The creature standing before him was much taller than he, and had a rather long tail lashing behind it. It was as much of a crossover of machine and flesh as it had been before. This time, however, it resembled the animal, not the motorcycle. And that animal stepped forward to sniff at the man, head tilting to the side.

The rider, wide-eyed and pale, nearly panicked. "Ah...sorry! Sorry! It's not gonna kill you, swear!"

The man slid from the seat on the back of the animal's back and swooped down in front of it, pushing it away with one hand on its snout. "Down, girl. Back up a few steps. Yeah! That's right. Thaaat's right." he said, patting the animal. It sat down, looking past him at Azric with intelligent eyes.

The man sighed, then turned to face the stranger they had come across. "Sorry again. We're a bit new to this planet! We're with the Misranan crew, just scoping the planet out."

"It's the planet. We've recently come into...ah...existance within the eyes of...everyone else, I suppose. Our planet had been under a global cloaking field for some time. Isolationism. But not anymore. We've come down on a cruise ship, the Lalitia. We're...supposed to be rounding up people who'd like to take a trip there."

The cat-vehicle came forth a few inches, inquiring toward Azric. He would be able to notice the neon blue tubes that ran from capsules on either side of the machine into the back of the animal's head.

"Perhaps you are interested?"

The voice did not come from the man. It was smooth and feminine, and it came from the machine, which had not once opened its mouth.

There was a tiny speaker on its neck, right behind its ears.

"Well," said the man with a smirk, "Lets see...that shouldn't be too much of a problem. Even the poor should be able to have the chance for an adventure. I'm sure you can work it off. Don't you think, Razummy?"

"Indeed."

He looked back to Azric. "My name is Shan Valk. Ah...you are?"

"We can deal with any skill set, as long as you have a brain to think with," replied Shan. "Nice to meet you too, Azric Cane. So, what is it you can do? We have use for staff from Terra to know how to deal with the rest of the Terrans that will be boarding the ship. Captain Khoy thinks that would be the best idea. We have no idea about this planet and its inhabitants. It would be nice to learn."

Razummy laid down, just as tall as both men even in that position. She gazed at Azric scrutinizing him.

Shan nodded. "All things we could use for the Zanzarian. Say...you don't have any trouble with the Aschen, right? Just to make sure."

"It would be unfortunate, but we are not adverse to attempting to keep you...'under wraps', as one would say on this planet." Razummy answered.

"Zanzaria is the city we come from. And also the small nation we are a part of. It's in Misrana, our planet." explained Razummy.

Shan nodded. "Well, you'll be having to come on the ship, and when we fly out, they'll be doing a brief of all our passengers. Seems unnecessary to me, but it looks like this planet has been occupied over their rule, so there isn't much we can do to argue. After all, the only ship we have that is a cruise liner, not a battleship."

"As far as the Aschen are concerned, if they don't have any personal trouble with you, it should not matter. There is an incredibly high yield of assassins and spies employed here. And none are being used." said Razummy. "And we won't be using you against the Aschen. No. But you shall find out once we show you to Captain Khoy and the head of security."

Shan rose a brow at the cellphone. "Interesting device," he commented. "What would you call that?"

"Khoy is a man. Nunki male." replied Shan, opening the device and inspecting it with widened eyes and a curiosity that nearly rivaled that of a child's.

Razummy continued to give Azric information. "We will be leaving in a week, but you may come to the ship anytime before that at your desire. It would be best to familiarize yourself with our technology."

"Women?" asked Shan, looking over the phone more closely. "Oh! Yes. Women. We have a lot of those." With a grin, he closed the phone, then handed it back to Azric. "In fact, we were just on our way to see a couple of them now. Would you like to meet them now?"

Razummy, being partly machine, with no reproductive organs, nearly rolled her eyes. "If that is your drive, there will be more than enough."

Shan shrugged, "Heard that two of our agents were loitering in the slums. I personally have no idea what they'd be doing there, or where it even is-"

"I have the location already programmed in my system," Razummy interrupted, feline lips curling back in a grin. "Shall we get going?"

"...of course." said Shan, climbing onto the seat upon Razummy's back. He rose a brow at Azric. "Right. You probably have never ridden an ATW before." He reached down for a small button at the Callandaline's side. Right behind Shan's chair, another popped up, having previously been folded in a compartment.

"Get on. Hang on. Don't panic."

There were two handles on Shan's seat that would give Azric a proper grip as Razummy began to walk, then trot down the sidewalk. She veered into the road, picking up speed. As she raced, the wheels lowered, and the transformation took place again as the ATW's paws lifted from the ground.

Off to the slums they went.

Helmi and Lametta already had company outside. Part of their guard, with those dressed similarly to Lametta standing vigilantly. However, a few more felt the need to arrive. Dust blew up as what seemed to be a large motorcycle with two riders skidded down the road. Before it came to a full stop, something quite odd happened to the bike.

The wheels retracted into the main body, paws that had been holding the bike wheels in place hit the ground, and the machine transformed from a motorcycle to a large, bio-mechanical cat. It looked like a panther with a tail longer than the length of its body.

The first rider held his hand up. "Didn't mean to make you wait, ladies. I picked up my passenger." said Shan, jabbing his thumb in the direction of the man in the back seat.

"Yeah...yeah, Helmi does that," Shan told Abra, putting his hands into his pockets. "So...I guess we're bringing you to the ship." He beckoned to them. "We have a larger ATW coming on its way. I hop you aren't afraid of large animals."

Helmi grinned. "The Orange Guard does a great many things to benefit Misrana." she said, keeping it vague for her own reasons. "What reason does Shan have for taking you along?"

"No. I am not smoking man. I know better than to do that here," said Shan, scratching the back of his head before yawning tiredly. His uncombed hair fell into his face. "I'm not Terran, either. Alulan. Unfortunately my tail got cut off." he groaned. He squeezed his eyes shut, just remembering the day. He recovered rather quickly, however, placing his hands on his legs and giving Katie a bow.

"Shan Valk. Nice to meet you."

Lametta bent down to take Shadow in her arms, hugging her right back with a small pat to her shoulder. Helmi agreed and spoke to the girl excitedly.

The scientist lead them down a very wide hallway dressed in the very same shade of orange and blue as her dress. She stopped at a door covered in glowing blue veins, and ran her sharp, lengthy nails along them.

"We're hear, dears. Come, now. Come."

Into Gambit's, Shan Valk came.

He looked ordinary, both in appearance and the way he held himself, with his hands in the pockets of his baggy blue pants, shoulders sloped, and eyes as tired as any man's this late at night. His wear, however, was a tad too bright for any ordinary man of Terra. He was dressed in the bright orange and blues of the planet Misrana, with the front of the uniform unbuttoned, chest exposed, with the tie hanging around his neck. His brown bangs flopped into his face, and a toothpick hung from his lips.

He nodded to Zekil, ordered rum, and sat, with a tired groan, a seat over from Amariah.

Youthful?

Boy?

Shan was twenty six, and not getting any younger! Even his expression screamed that he thought he'd already lived so long that life simply did not have anything meaningful for him anymore.

But, being unable to hear Zekil's thoughts, he mumbled his thanks and slid his card, filled with credits, over to the demon. He took out the toothpick from his lips and flicked it into the trashcan.

For a moment, he gave his tired, miserable gaze to the redhead. "Ah," he said simply, nodding like it made sense. "So I'm not invisible to women. Great."

He shrugged and drank his rum, staring at the wall.

"Long decade," he replied to Amariah, eyebrows flying up briefly as he tightly smiled. He went for another sip of his drink, when suddenly, the voice beside him sounded out. He looked beside him, ready with a clever, when...

His brows pinched in confusion. The man looked around, trying to find the source of the voice. After finding none, he raised his drink, narrowing his eyes at it.

"I knew Terran alcohol wasn't safe."

Shan lifted a finger to the kid that had quite suddenly become visible, squeezed his eyes shut, real, real tight, and lifted both his hands to smack his cheeks.

"Time to wake up, Shan. Time to stop dreaming of invisible little boys. Come on."

He opened his eyes again, and the bar, and the kid, was still there. He heaved another mournful sigh. "It's just...miserable enough to be true, ah?" With a nod, he picked the drink up again, emptying it.

"Bartender," he said. "A few car bombs. Please?" He cleared his throat, pursing his lips as he spoke to the kid.

"Very new to Terra, very unused to Terra, and very much not enjoying...Terra."
