Description

Image Short bio, currently being updated. Apologies on the fail. :3:

Wren skipped her final year at the SCD Academy and was placed immediately in the Major Cases Squad, making her the youngest fully-qualified field agent in United States history. The accolades are not without merit, however. Though she appears a demure young woman on the outside, her brain is constantly absorbing and interpreting information. She's a sponge for knowledge - there's nothing she can't look at, and instantly have stored in her mind.

This tendency for information makes her a key player in the Major Cases Squad. Although not gifted with any extraordinary offensive abilities, her understanding of runic figures and even the most obscure languages helps the rest of the team stay one step ahead whosoever they might be pitted against.

Appropriately petite, there's nothing intimidating about the girl. She looks even younger than her real age, often being mistaken for a high school student. Her personality is soft and quiet; though she'd never admit it, Wren feels safer and more comfortable behind a desk in Los Angeles than across the country in the field.

So begins...

Wren Mishoyu sat in the corner of the bar - by herself, head bent, texting intently. From this angle, she looked more like a high school senior than a federal agent. Her badge and gun were hidden - anyone might have thought she had just wandered in from class.

At the location.
Her thumbs flashed over the keys, and she chewed the inside of her lip.
Will contact when it's finished.

Wren Mishoyu looked up suddenly as the door banged off the wall. It sounded like a gunshot, and there was a wild moment where --

Oh. Just someone front kicking the door in. Wren pursed her lips. Odd, that.

Wren Mishoyu tilted her head to the side, seeing Doryn make his way to the bar. Her eyes first lingered on his hair. Hmm.

She tapped a finger on the table, then rose quietly to her feet. Well, she might as well go for it.

"Excuse me .. " She slipped in next to him at the bar. "My name is Special Agent Wren Mishoyu, and I would like to know if I may speak to you."

Wren Mishoyu "Yes." Wren said smoothly. She pulled her badge from her pocket. It was still bright, shiny - without any pocks or nicks. "Liesha mentioned you. I know who you are, and I know I can't say your name without being permission. But what I don't know is *what* you are."

She returned the badge to her pocket, fumbling a bit as though unfamiliar with having to constantly carry it.

"I'm the researcher on the team, see. It's my job to know everything about everything. And so far I've been pretty good at that." She tucked a strand of hair behind an ear. "So. Since I'm not too eager to test that choking magic, I'll just say that you should tell me a bit about yourself."

Wren Mishoyu "Yes, Doryn .. " She said the name slowly, feeling out both syllables. "Hmm. Yes." The girl looked up. "I would like a drink."

Wren Mishoyu "Just a soda is fine." The girl said softly. If this really was going to be an interview, one might expect her to take out a recorder, or at least a pen and paper. But she just sat there politely, demurely with her hands folded in her lap. "Yeah. That'd be nice."

Wren Mishoyu "Closely, and to the letter." She replied in that same firm voice, and there was no doubt that she had caught everything he said. "Most casters - most people, even, either prefer to keep their True Name buried, or don't know it at all. To have your True Name so open on the surface, it offers no protection. Someone more powerful than you could easily control you. Well, no." She raised a slender hand to correct herself. "Not easily. Because your point is valid. If one doesn't have the capacity for the name, it cannot be said."

"Angels, then? If it's a matter of actual power, then that's another multifaceted issue." She dissolved into another sip of root beer. "But I digress."

Wren Mishoyu "You explained that very poorly. What working arrangements, specifically?" She blinked along with the talk of positions of power. "So. You are protected by a bureaucratic system. Interesting."

"The name for what you are is a Legacy." She took another sip. "That's all I know. From there, it sort of trickles into talk of longevity and, well, not much else."

Wren Mishoyu sat up a little straighter. She had been attentive the entire time, and now if possible she seemed to be brimming over.

"Magic during those times was fascinating. It was brutal, and it was elegant, used more as an escape than a means of the conflict. Can you believe it?"

Wren scooted a little closer to Doryn. "Scholars have poured over Hitler and his history, and it constantly boggles them that he had absolutely no trace of hypnotic magicks in his body. He did not confer with casters or mages. It was the pure power of human propaganda and sin. Really puts it all in perspective. Oh, it just makes the Chromatic Order so very confused."

Her eyes were glowing, now. "I'm sorry. But I'll certainly have to go back and talk to you about that. How were you given your immortality, exactly? There are conflicting ideologies I can see, here, as to why you would want to live forever after experiencing so much death .. "

Wren Mishoyu "From a psychological standpoint, that wouldn't be entirely uncommon. But not every man who wishes to enjoy himself that way gets the chance. Those immortals from that era all feel cheated at this point in history. Disillusioned, thinking that things would get better if only they could live past it. But you seem chipper, in a detached way, which could entirely be an indication of your moral compass. I have no idea if you consider yourself 'good' or 'evil' or not." Wren said cheerfully, "So long as you don't kill me at the moment. I don't think Liesha would be entirely too pleased, and she's not one to have on your bad side."

Wren Mishoyu felt a chill sort of trickle down her spine. It wasn't one of fear or sudden wariness. She was still smiling, she was still leaning close to him - but his words were still powerful.

"Does it affect the singularity of your mission? Considering yourself to be so in the dark, as it were, playing your cards for the other side? Maybe not your identity, no, that seems rather steeped." She tilted her head to the side, observing him.

"Order. That's an entirely different debate. I think we both know Order doesn't necessarily stay on one side, or the other. All the same, it's refreshing that you know who you are."

She still had questions. She'd always have questions.

"Then how do you view me? I consider myself on the side of order. A very humane set of morals, I have. I pay my taxes on time, I try to be polite and nice as much as I can. It could easily be said that if I had your scope of experience, your margin of existence, that we wouldn't be too dissimilar."

Wren Mishoyu "That depends entirely on how you define evil." Wren held up a slender finger. "From the Christian standpoint, what separates me from Hitler? Nothing. We are all born with natural sin, according to them. But then from the Humanistic standpoint, or the Nihilists, or any number of other religions over every single Realm .. evil comes from a physical presence. Almost as though the right haircut and the right pair of jeans make you evil."

She pulled her badge from her pocket. "This makes me good. But what about Director Vivera, or the Wing City Police Chief DeJaques? They had badges, they were considered 'good' people. But one bad cover story and a few controversies later, it's revealed they had more up their sleeves than some of the prisoners awaiting trial in Aramei. It's a very interesting debate."

"But with your hair and your demeanor .. and your history, there would be no subtlety." She winked. "Don't get me wrong. I love the hair, it's probably in better shape than mine."

Wren Mishoyu "Externally, you're not a very subtle person, at least in terms of morality. Morality is an empty word for some, others, even a few people that I know." Wren continued on, seemingly oblivious to the potential effect of her words. "But internally, I think there is some level of complexity, yet it isn't too entirely high on your list of things to think about."

"What was it you said? Lots of vodka." She gave a polite smile.
