The cliché villain is often the tortured person who becomes a torturer out of pure evil. This is what they expected when she snapped and betrayed those closest to her. She used to be a respected military officer, possibly considered a hero. Her supporters who brush off her harsh methods as "doing what she had to do". They were surprised when she started shooting at her own, and she would not listen to their reasoning. They failed to understand why she would do such a thing. In her mind, she had enough of being forced into situations where she had to be the bad guy, and she couldn't deny the fact that what she fought for did not warrant the violence she dished out. Of course, she never told them that fact, instead suddenly switching sides and giving them a taste of their own medicine. She remains reviled by the people who once placed her on a pedastal
