Setting
The beaches on this side of the continent are less than desirable. Curies don't wash up over here so much as debris does. Aslund proves to be a filthy eastern neighbor.
There aren't nearly as many animals on this side of the continent, reflecting the apparent lack of vegetation. Despite the warm hues of the rocks, the Bald Stretch is no different climatically than any other northern continent's shoreline. For three months a year, snow and ice turn this already harsh landscape into a livable Hell.

He pretended to wake up when Carmen seemed like she was done getting ready and immediately put his shoes on. He splashed his face with water, ran wet hands through his hair, and went to return the key to the front desk. Carmen got a nod as he passed, but not much else.
It wasn't an easy sleep. The nagging feeling that what he was doing was wrong started building when they left the Luxlands. Now it was all but a siren in the back of his head.
She wandered into the enchanted orchard and waited for Finn to be done returning the room keys. There were all sorts of fruits- even strawberries, she noticed over there on the ground. She picked a few, then realized they'd stain and she had nowhere to put them. Ah, well. One by one Carmen popped the small strawberries in her mouth. They were perfectly ripe, and wonderfully sweet. A little small in size, but maybe that was a sacrifice for a perfect strawberry.
As she finished the last one he came up behind her and cleared his throat. It was time for them to go. They should reach their destination by nightfall.
