Kaleeco X's Story

Linus Trucidabunt was smoking a cigarette out side at a fuel station. It was off the main highway a bit in the middle of nowhere- not an official rest stop, more an emergency exit. There wasn't even a diner. He flicked out his cigarette, got back in his craft, and went to Gruelle.

Finn Harra hopped off the bike at the entrance to the motel. It was a u shaped bit with an interior balcony. Instead of a pool, there was a fruit garden. It must have been enchanted to produce all year round. He pulled off his helmet and stuck it on the handlebars of the hoverbike.

The doors to the motel were automatic, the guy behind the counter homely. He greeted Finn with a smiled and tapped a sign with the rates on it. They were cheap as hell. Finn pulled cash from his pocket and placed it on the counter. The man behind the counter took it with a small bow and put it in an old fashioned register. The thing wasn't even digital.

Then the man leaned over the counter to peer out the window. He spotted Carmen and grinned at Finn, who sheepishly smiled back and wobbled his head. The man fiddled with a key card machine. It chimed on the third attempt, and the man behind the counter looked a little grateful for that. Finn graciously accepted the two cards in the little white card fold.

Room 208.

With a nod, Finn thanked the man and went back out to Carmen.

Finn Harra handed Carmen her key card and grabbed up his helmet. He checked to make sure the box on the back of the bike was locked, turned on his heel, and started off towards the room.d

Carmen Dellevon sighed and followed after Finn to their room. It was upstairs - they chose to not take the elevator - and down on the corner of the u. A no smoking sign was above the door, the numbers 208 in brass on the front of it.

Carmen had taken off her helmet and was waiting for Finn to open the door.

Finn Harra touched his key card to the reader. The door unlocked with a click. Inside there were thankfully two queen sized beds, a large vanity, and a door leading to the bathroom. A minifridge, a small television. Bare bones, quaint. Acceptable.

He flopped down on the bed closest to the door.

Carmen Dellevon closed the door and bolted it behind her, settling in on the bed farthest from the door. She was grateful for safe passage. It wasn't the fastest but she seemed to have cooled her trail.

"Thank you," She said quietly to the younger man.

Carmen Dellevon woke up before Sol. She got in a long, hot shower and steamed her clothes.

Finn Harra woke up and quietly laid in bed when he realized Carmen was in the shower. He closed his eyes again and daydreamed about riding on a yacht across a glassy sea.

He pretended to wake up when Carmen seemed like she was done getting ready and immediately put his shoes on. He splashed his face with water, ran wet hands through his hair, and went to return the key to the front desk. Carmen got a nod as he passed, but not much else.

It wasn't an easy sleep. The nagging feeling that what he was doing was wrong started building when they left the Luxlands. Now it was all but a siren in the back of his head.

Carmen Dellevon followed Finn out after a moment. It was a silent morning and she didn't mind it, but it was a little strange. Finn seemed a little strange.

She wandered into the enchanted orchard and waited for Finn to be done returning the room keys. There were all sorts of fruits- even strawberries, she noticed over there on the ground. She picked a few, then realized they'd stain and she had nowhere to put them. Ah, well. One by one Carmen popped the small strawberries in her mouth. They were perfectly ripe, and wonderfully sweet. A little small in size, but maybe that was a sacrifice for a perfect strawberry.

Finn Harra found Carmen in the central garden and watched her for a moment. There was no love, no hate, nothing in his gaze but cool observation. What was she really up to?

As she finished the last one he came up behind her and cleared his throat. It was time for them to go. They should reach their destination by nightfall.

Finn Harra nodded and led Carmen to where his bike was parked in the designated spots right out front.
