âPhysical Descriptionâ
Marigold is of rather average height for a woman has a well toned body while remaining slim and muscular, yet curvaceous. Her skin has a rich tan color to it, like some light brown sugar. She has silver tinted hair that is always kept curly and short. Her eyes are a brown so light that it might make someone think of honey. Her clothing style is generally a neutral-colored tank top, thin baggy pants that blow around in the wind, and sandals. She feels self-conscious about her bust size, as well as believing her ears are a little bit too big.
Abilities
Gin-Gin Fruit: She has eaten the Gin-Gin fruit. She has the power to create silver from her body. She generally takes from her breast mass, feeling that they get in the way. She uses this to create a blade on the bladeless handle she carries, and also to make silver bullets for her pistol. With the blades, she can create anything from a tiny dagger to a giant buster sword. If either weapon breaks, or she wills it, she must return the silver to her body. She is exceptionally decent with her blade skill, but is an even better marksman. She can also create silver shields, temporary silver armor, and things of the sort. Even little silver trinkets!
Equipment: She will generally have a carpenter's hammer and nails on a tool belt that is constantly wrapped around her hips. Some other construction tools linger around in there, but those are generally what she uses. She also keeps a tiny bottle of rum stored in that belt of hers for occasional sipping. As far as weaponry goes, she carries a sword's handle, the grip being rather long, and a silver flintlock pistol that is never loaded.
Inner Soul
âŠThumb Biting || When bored or nervous, she'll press her thumb to her lips and give it little bites.
âŠBlinking || She just blinks a lot. Like, a lot.
âŠBlushing || It isn't hard to get her to blush. When she does, her face turns silver rather than red.
âLikesâ
â„Meats and Sweets || Because what's better than coming home to some fresh meat for supper after a long day at work? She's also particularly fond of tarts, cakes, candies, etc. Icing on the metaphorical, and sometimes literal, cake.
â„Booze || Strawberry Brandy is her favorite. Sweeter alcohols tickle her fancy.
â„Adventure || When she was with the Marines, she enjoyed being out on the sea and going places, seeing new cities and people. The world is absolutely filled with incredible marvels and she'd love to see all of them.
âDislikesâ
âHer Breasts || While she's a fan of breasts in general, hers just feel like they get in the way of everything. Fighting, construction, conversations... It's just a hassle she hates dealing with.
âMarines || As time went on, she decided that she didn't like the Marine life very much. They were all so self-righteous and feeling that their way was the best for everyone. She wasn't a fan of that and decided after deserting that it was probably for the best.
âThe Cold || Cold weather, snow especially, remind her of home far too much. She's trying to move on from her days of loneliness after all, so thinking about her first home is counter-productive. Also the warmth just feels so much better.
âFearsâ
âDrowning || Even before consuming a Devils Fruit, she feared drowning. She never went swimming out past her waist due to this fear.
âDeath || A natural fear, she doesn't want to die without experiencing more in life. There's still a lot she never got to see or do or have, and until she has done everything, death is not welcome with her.
âDevils Fruits Fights || Combat between Devils Fruits users sounds incredibly frightening to her. She's never witnessed one, but the Devils Fruits hold a lot of power. Crossing abilities like that could seriously wreck some stuff, and even cost lives.
âFlawsâ
âGin-Gin Drawbacks || Drawbacks to the Gin-Gin Fruit's powers include exhaustion/fatigue, heavier than normal body weight, and that the silver is in fact created from her own body. She must transform some of her mass into the silver produced. If she does not recover the silver, it could leave her feeling ill until she can eat enough to recover her body mass. Silver is also not the strongest metal, her weapons rarely lasting more than a few hits. Of course, because it is a Devils Fruit, she also cannot swim.
âMotivation || Sometimes she just doesn't want to do things. She can generally be "convinced" to do things with promises of booze and/or foods.
âMusic || Despite her understanding music and wanting to become a musician, she actually sucks when it comes to playing instruments. One might prefer to listen to nails on a chalkboard.
âSecretsâ
âWhile she loves a life of adventure and wonder, she wouldn't mind settling down and starting a family sometime. Of course, she never openly states that... unless she's drunk so far under the table she thinks she's on the ceiling.
âHer current identity is not the one given at birth. If the Marines were to find her true identity, she could be prosecuted.
âPersonalityâ
Marigold is incredibly laid-back. She's never really lazy, but she doesn't like working too much either. She loves to go drinking, and holds her liquor better than most men. She also loves music and, as such, has begun to take up the accordion. She's loyal to those she cares about to a fault, ready to lay down her life in defense of another. She treats everyone the same, and that treatment is extremely casual. She could meet the king of kings and her greeting would be her normal, "Hey. What's up?" And if she offers to buy someone a drink, that is her showing either her utmost respect or sympathy for someone.

âHistoryâ
Hailing from a small frozen village in the Ice Continent that she absolutely refuses to disclose, she lived the first twelve years of her life in the blistering colds. She mostly lived alone with her mother and dog, only seeing her father on brief visits back from his time at sea. Being a man of the Marines, he was often out for months at a time, sometimes even years, away from his family. The young girl, always restless as a child and impulsive in the worst kind of ways, decided that she wanted to see her dad at any cost. So she left for the Marines when she was twelve. A young and tender age to join, especially for a young woman, she put in the extra efforts to make it in. With time and effort, she was made an honorary Marine at 14.
One of her first missions was to combat a small-time pirate crew who were stirring up some trouble. So she and her shipmates set out to sea, ready for combat. She was pretty excited to be with the Marines, but she'd had no word from her father since joining, nevermind seeing him. It was all seeming like a lost cause. That was how she felt until it came to the thrill of the battle. The sound of cannons blasting and ships smashing to board was thrilling! The Marines didn't seem to be having much fun with it, though the pirates were having a blast. If it weren't for the fact that the pirates got wiped out, she'd have wished she was with them instead.
The men were ordered to search the ship and seize any cargo they could. Luck would have it that the ship's real treasure was hidden away where she was sent to search. The child discovered a lone chest in a dusty room. The chest had to have been recently hid there, perhaps before the attack, as it was practically spotless. With a big grin, she smashed open the top and reached inside expecting gold. Instead of gold, however, she discovered something far more valuable. She hadn't understood it at the time, but these pirates had just encountered a Devils Fruit. To her, she just saw lunch. A sweet-looking, juicy piece of giant tropical fruit. After checking to make sure no one else was around, she bit into it excitedly. Right off the bat, it was horrible. It tasted like iron and salt. But taught never to waste food, she downed the whole damn fruit. Almost instantly, her skin and clothes all became glossed in a silver coating before seeming to soak into her flesh.
After that, she realized what she had done. In hindsight, she recalled that the Marines were out to destroy the Devils Fruits again, and she had just consumed one. If they ever found out, that'd be it for her. When they returned to shore, she slipped away as soon as possible and hid from the Marines. she'd have to desert. For her own safety, she fled the Marines and went AWOL.
Three years had passed as she trained with her Devils Fruit powers, finding many interesting and practical uses for them. At the age of seventeen, she finally found a place to settle down. Much unlike her hometown, the port town of Nanohana was practically in desert territory. Finding a love for the heat and ocean in one spot, she decided to stay. Assuming a new name, Marigold Sterling, she started a new life. A kind shipwright and his musician of a wife took her in. It was only supposed to be for a few days at first, but as she took an interest in both ships and music, they wanted to keep her around like the daughter they never had. It was as if someone had blessed them with the perfect child. The woman taught her to play music, to vocalize and even gave her her favorite accordion. The man taught her all about ships. How they work, the best ships as examples, how to build and repair... All of that jazz. And in her next nine years there, she learned the shipwrighting trade from him and was named a shipwright herself. Now, at age twenty-six, she can feel life calling her to adventure. After all, she won't be young forever. With a hug and a kiss goodbye to her foster parents, she set off on her own. [[More to be added on how she joined the Void Pirates after discussion with GM.]]
