Are you okay?

0 · 379 views · located in The Nightwing

a character in “The Nightwing's Voyage”, as played by zeno3111

Description

Name: Rina Snow
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Hair color: Dark red
Eye color: Dark blue
Skills: sniping, stealth, some cooking, and has a nack for hacking/programing and inventing.
Job (Nights Blade): Rina's main job on The Nights Blade was to operate a turret and the tractor beam.

Rina wears a pirate raider outfit (like Dlews). Rinas uniform has a gold trim down the front were it gets buttoned and its black with black shoes and pants with dark green collar and cuffs. Rina has long hair that reaches to about the middle of her back.

Personality

Rina is a kind and caring person that would never turn a back on her friend and she can get a little too protective over her friends. Rina really likes to hack into random locked stuff just to see how challenging it will be, but won't steal anything if it’s on the ship. Rina really likes to invent new things but never has enough time to get past a beta stage for the devices she makes. The stuff she invents varies from a portable holo-sheild, to a miniature bomb that does a lot of damage, to a multi-purpose set of goggles that can toggle from night vision to infa-red, with a heartbeat tracker or motion sensor. You can usually find Rina stuck reading a good story in her room. Rina can also be found tinkering with things in her room and can also be found tinkering around with Dlews mechanics.

Equipment

Rina carries a video phone that she made herself.
Rina also carries a sniper that looks like this
Image

Rina also has a holo book which she reads from, she also uses it to hack and to try and hack through Dlews memory firewall so she can learn more about Dlew.

Rina also has armor she likes to wear (it’s Leijons)

History

Rina has lived a devastating life. First her father brutally killed her mother while she was forced to watch when she was only eight. Her dad got arrested but Rina was sent into a two year coma from being beat on by her dad. When Rina awoke from the coma she escaped the hospital and lived on the streets. Rina turned to learning how to hack doors for buildings and safes so she could live. One day she pickpocketed a famous pirate named Leijon the pirate of riches. Leijon caught Rina and found her skills quite impressive so she took her under her wing and trained her how to shoot a rifle and perfect her hacking ability.

A few years (Rina is about 12) later the ship that was under the command of Leijon was under attack from a fleet of pirates, led by a pirate that called himself Swift Darkness. His crew slaughtered Leijons crew and was about to kill Rina if she wasn’t rushed to an escape pod. Rina watched with horror as the pod door closed and her motherly figure was cut down by the pirates. Rina rerouted the pod to fly to a distant planet which is where Leijon hid all of her treasure.
Rina took enough money to last her awhile and she also took a ship that Leijon had stolen. She went to a planet called Zigran (a junk yard world) to find a friend of Leijons named Jinok (Jinok is a yellow scaled humanoid). When she found him she said she needed a crew for her ship which she started calling The Nights Blade. They worked out a deal and made him captain because she didn’t like the positions were everyone depended on her.

They then became a well know pirate ship and they made a stop to a planet called Winlock (Android home world.) (Rinas current age is 18) They salvaged a lot of junk but Rina happened to find an android with an intact head and torso. She then hauled the destroyed android aboard the ship and dedicated herself to fixing it. (Took When she finished the android had no memory of his past. Rina then started using her hacking skills to try and retrieve his memory, but first she needed to find a name for him and decided to call him Dlew.

After removing a few highly secured safety locks she opened up his emotions but of course to get him to use them she had to teach him about them. Dlew had developed some emotion but seemed to not use it much. Rina and Dlew became friends and they never kept anything from each other. One day Rina realized that Dlews nightmares might mean something so she had him draw what he could remember and drawing quickly became Dlews hobby.

(Rinas current age is 20) Rina was working on hacking through Dlews memory unit one day and then suddenly they were under attack. Rina asked what was going on to Jinok through the ships comms. She rushed with Dlew to the hanger but got trapped in the kitchen and she told Dlew to sit tight and wait for her. Rushing ahead Rina met up with some of the remaining crew and wanted to go back for Dlew but they had to take off. After a day they found their ship and Rina looked all over the ship for Dlew but couldn’t find him and this is where the remaining crew split apart. Rina got dropped off at a space station and set up a shop where she custom makes parts and repairs advanced tech for low prices.

So begins...

Saein noticed fruit beers on sale in a liquor store as she looked around to see which direction to go after leaving the elevator. She wondered if strawberry flavored beer existed, and if so, if she should buy some for Eddie. She thought she probably shouldn’t, it seemed like a rather girlish drink, and she didn’t like the idea of a drunk pilot. But it would be a good idea to go shopping for a present on the station while the specialist worked on Dlew - she had been working for such a long time she’d rather not make him something like she had planned to.

“Where on this station would you go shopping for a birthday present for a pilot?” Saein asked Alex.

Alex didn’t get a chance to give a very detailed answer, they arrived at the android specialist’s workshop a minute later. When Saein reached for the door, it slid open before she touched it, and a computer voice said “Welcome, Saein Vernig”. It seemed the door had communicated with her datapad, a neat hack she hadn’t seen before. Alex was welcomed too when he followed Saein and the stretcher with Dlew on it. Announcing the names of visitors like that (and perhaps not opening the door for some) might be useful to someone who had enemies, in any case it was amusing. The store had another surprise in store: the woman who appeared to be the owner wore the same style of clothing Dlew did. Saein wanted to quip “Hey, nice outfit!”, instead she simply said “Hi, do you have time to repair this android?”

Alexander

Alex was about to respond to Saein's question, when they were interrupted by their datapads going off, welcoming them to the medical bay. "Interesting," Alex said looking at his datapad. Dlew was immediately rushed in to the nearest doctor and Saein immediately began conversing.

The woman was taller and her outfit matched Dlew's. Interesting, again, Her red hair was pulled up behind her head as she wrote things down on a clipboard. Alex didn't really know what to say, Saein seemed to be handling herself fine.

"You seem to have everything taken care of. I'm, clearly, not an expert on androids." He chuckled placing a hand on Saein's shoulder. "Meet me at the Nerlima, if you still want to get something to eat." He stated referring to the strip of restaurants near the market.

Regina

Reggie barely had a chance to speak to the robot before he burst to his feet and ran out of the hangar. The captain sat back in her hovering chair and watching the robot trot off. "Interesting..." She mused.

Not wanting to remain in the chair any longer, Reggie quickly flew off towards the medical bay. When she arrived, she found Saein helping get Dlew checked in.

"Thank you, Saein," Reggie said coming to a stop by the mechanic. "I can handle it from here. Go enjoy your time on the station." The captain smiled kindly and then turned her attention to the specialist.

"Hello, I'm Regina, captain of the Nightwing. Me, and my crewmate here," She began pointing at Dlew and then her leg. "Need some serious attention."

Alex seemed eager to run off, perhaps he felt uncomfortable in a place similar to but not quite the same as a medbay meant for meat beings. Saein involuntarily moved away a bit to avoid any contact between her neck and his hand when he placed it on her shoulder. “Okay, the Nerlima” she replied.

Moments later Regina appeared and basically told Saein to make herself scarce. She shrugged, said “As you prefer, captain” nodded at Regina and then at the android specialist, and walked out.

The place Alexander had suggested for finding something to eat was crowded, and Saein could smell why. The cook wasn’t as talented as Minn, but still very good. Looking for the doctor, she noticed several other Firni who had been attracted to the good food, but not the one guy she wanted to avoid. Unfortunately the reason she didn’t see him was that he was behind her.

Saein felt a hand on her lower back, and heard the voice she had hoped not to hear again say «Don’t I know you from somewhere?» in her language.
She spun around, slapped the hand away and replied with an icy voice «Yes, you do know me. Go die in a fire.»
The man, who was strong, handsome and half a head taller than her, was not impressed by her words and furious expression. «Saein! What a lovely surprise!»
Saein slowly pulled a wrench from her pocket, raised it above her head and started counting. «Five. Four. Three.»
Her former boss backed away, bumped into a human woman, accidentally touched the hand of that woman, shrieked, and tried to disappear into the crowd. He looked embarrassed about the sound he had made.

“Disgusting little man” Saein said, switching to the language the staring people around her would understand. She put away the wrench, looked around once again, and found Alex sitting at a table nearby. “I’m sorry,” she told him, “I’d rather eat on the ship. One of the other guests gives me indigestion.”

Alexander

"I'm fine." Alex quickly stated standing up from his chair. "And I'll relay that message for you, but don't count on a response."

He pushed away from the table, leaving money that he owed for his drink, and walked back towards the Nightwing. He was officially ready to leave this damned space station.

Regina

Reggie sat on the operating table, admiring her new leg. Rina had done well, it was strange to see actual skin and not a mechanical leg. Although, it was artificial skin, kind of like Dlew, but it was real enough for her. Pushing off of the table, the captain was more than excited to head back to her ship and get on the way.

She checked in on Rina and made sure she would tell the android that after he was repaired to make his way to the ship. Sadly, he wouldn't be able to explore the space station, Reggie really just wanted to get back to the voyage. She quickly sent a message to the rest of her crew on her datapad to inform them that they would be leaving shortly.

Tom sat in the medical bay after the short walk there. He'd have got lost if it wasn't for the fact that he was following Dr. Alex and Eddie on a hover stretcher - this ship was so complicated in its layout that each time he made a corner, he could've sworn they were going back the way they'd come.

A few minutes passed. Luckily, his hand wasn't bleeding, but the pain was still throbbing in his hand. He felt the almost unbearable itch to try and prize the bullet out with his fingers, but he knew that was not a good idea and that it would only make the situation more difficult for Rina to amend.

Rina. He hadn't been introduced to her personally, but by process of elimination, she was the only female on the ship he had yet to meet properly (if you didn't count the brief encounter during the Council's onslaught). He wasn't sure where she worked, but he figured it was common sense to go to the sick bay, and he hoped that she would find him there when she was done recovering from the mini-battle. Since the captain had specifically asked her to fix him, he assumed Alex wasn't the man for the job, so he just sat in a chair by the door and waited.

He tapped the fingers of his working hand on his leg, which probably made a rather annoying clinking noise, but Tom was too busy daydreaming to notice. He was thinking about what to do on this ship during downtime. He'd obviously have to make sure he met all of the crew, and eat. Definitely eat. Other times, he didn't know, and he wondered whether anyone else was any good at chess. He'd only ever won twice: Once when he'd managed to accidentally place his knight in a position which put the king in a fork, and the other time being against someone much younger than himself. It's safe to say he was never very good at it - he rushed his decisions too much, and made stupid mistakes. He'd still like to play one or two of the crew members though, just for a laugh.

His thoughts wandered back to the real world, and he noticed the doctor looking at him. He followed his eyes to where his fingers were still tapping, and stopped immediately, looking back up at Alex with an apologetic smile.

"Sorry, I don't even know I'm doing it sometimes," he stated, awkwardly.

He looked down at his hand again and at the bullet inside. It was a deep hole, and fascinating to look at. The metal-type skin of his palm had folded inwards like a pillow with a large book dropped on it, and when he turned his hand over, there was a little cone-shaped bump just below his central knuckle. He poked it with his other hand, and a tinkling sound indicated the bullet dropping out the other side and onto the floor.

Rina didn’t quite know what was happening. One moment she had customers in need of an Android to be fixed, as well as a woman’s leg, and then next thing she knows she’s on the move to join a new crew and escape the small army that suddenly materialized. The shock of actually finding out that this android she was working on was her long lost counter-part, the assignment she got separated from, and an old friend, ran on par with the sudden appearance of Council guards. The woman barely had time as she grabbed her datapad, some tools and other valuables, as well as her sniper rifle before rushing out the door after Regina.

Upon arriving at the ship, it seemed they had just managed to escape, but not without casualties. The Captain it seemed didn’t take it too well, but Rina couldn’t worry about that now as she was ordered to take Dlew down to the med bay. Arriving there before anyone else, she quickly got to work. Shutting down the android, she began her task first, assessing the extent of the damage, then proceeded onto problem solving and the actual repairs. By the time she’d finished she was exhausted.

She’d heard earlier an on board AI, and so she decided she’d give that a try. “Uhh, MAK?” she asked, a bit unsure about speaking to nothing. “Yes,” came the reply. The woman nodded approval, deciding that perhaps she’d look further into the AI later before she spoke again. “MAK, could you tell me if there’s a place for me to rest?”

“Yes, would you like me to send the coordinates to your datapad?” the AI asked.

“Yes, thank you MAK.” said the woman gratefully. Looking at the datapad, Rina stood and made for the barracks where sleep was waiting. For now Dlew would be fine as he was shut down, so long as nobody tampered with his systems while she was away. Smiling somewhat, the woman chose a bed in the far corner and was immediately out.

Rina woke again to the ship alerting them that the ship had arrived at a station. The name barely stuck in the woman’s foggy mind as she was still rather tired, and groggily she spoke to herself, saying, “Oh... Geez, I have to stop staying up for three days straight
”

Rubbing her eyes and standing, the woman then headed towards the hangar. She could’ve arrived there sooner, but was still tired. Besides, the ship was too interesting to not explore, and she couldn’t lie about losing her way for a moment. When she finally did get to her destination, she found the Captain there, busy with greeting people. She hadn’t realized exactly how long she’d been wandering until she felt the ship move again. At first she thought it was odd, until she’d checked the time. A bit flustered and embarrassed, the woman approached the group, and waited off to one side for a moment.

She could be patient for now, but she did have to return to working on the android soon, she just wanted to make sure Regina knew she was indeed still present.

"Congratulations! You're all hired!" Regina shouted to them. "Sorry for the informality, but we're in a bit of a hurry and I'm going to need as much help as I can get." She pressed a few buttons on her datapad and grimaced at what she saw. "We're in an extreme hurry, actually."

What, just happened? Putting her finger in the air-looking as if to say some unneeded fact- but all that came out was a quiet 'Mmmmm.' Mercia was finding herself at a loss for words around this crew and their Captain. Did she just honestly hire all of us? She thought, fiddling with her vintage bags strap. Was it on a whim? Or was she just des- Looking towards her bag against her side, the brunette gave herself a small dose of fireworks. That didn't matter at the moment for she had left with the Nightwing. With all of her possessions in her room, on that. Stupid. Station. Groaning in exhaustion, she resisted the urge to stomp her foot like a child.

Looking back towards the Captian, the brunette noticed the Fotiss-now known to her as Dia Fora- make a very bad attempt at an introduction. Mercia could not find it in her to give two shits about what was spewing from his mouth. What she wanted to know was why they had just up and left the station. So abruptly that she was sure they could have possibly left someone behind. What kind of ship is this? Shaking her had, she made her way to Regina. Fora's introduction finished. Coming up beside Oris, she finally spoke.

"Captain, if I may ask a question."

Austin was once again grabbed violently grabbed by the captain. He got another scowl on his face. He was thrown violently in line with the group of people now in the hanger. He looked completely out of place. A group of grown men and women, and others. And then him. A small human boy. The sad thing was he was easily 4 times as old as most people currently in the hanger.

He saw a number of them look over at him and give him an equal number of looks. Looks of superiority, confusion, disgust. He didn't care. He'd done and seen more then most of these people would see in a lifetime. He looked forward towards the captain. Everyone was talking. Everyone was trying to get a word in. He waited calmly. He didn't really get the impatience of others. Then again, others aged and died, so he assumed there was a lot he didn't understand. Mortality was a strange concept to him. He had been like this so long, he forgot how anything else felt.

He looked at all the others with a sickened look. The crew she'd hired on so far looked ragtag, but this wasn't ragtag. It was scrapping the bottom of the barrel.

Regina addressed everybody. "Okay, everyone, walk and talk please. We are heading to the bridge!" He assumed he'd been hired, more or less, and joined the walk. She stopped them when they reached a man working in the corner. "Everyone this is Bond! He's our engineer!" Austin loved working with engineers. They made and fix the physical components of the machines he loved. He looked up at the engineer, with an amount of respect. He wanted to stick around, but he heard the captain say something about an A.I flying the ship. He walked up to her, not having to pull her pant leg to get her attention this time.

"I'm aware your pretty mad at me right now, but if getting out of your little prison in no time flat is any indication, I'm good with technology. I've done a scan on all your systems, and If you'd let me acompany you to the bridge, I'd love to get to work optimizing and updating all of your systems. I'll even give MAK a few useful tweaks while I'm at it. Besides. I don't have the stomach for things like this anyways." He stopped talking, but then realized he should try to be a little more formal, hoping to decrease the tension. He added "Oh sorry, Captain."
