Abilities:
Duplication: Brady can duplicate inanimate objects and organic material to a certain extent. The more complex, the more energy that is required for him to duplicate something. The more complex the organic material or organism the less perfect the copy. He has been unable to successfully duplicate any whole living organism more advanced than an invertebrate without egregious genetic deformities. He mainly uses his ability to provide supplies for the city.
Telepathy: Brady can communicate mentally with those around him by sending thoughts, images, memories, and emotions. His ability is broad spectrum meaning he picks up on everyone around him and filters out who he wants to hear or speak to. He has much more control over this ability than his other. Since he was a small child he never found the need to speak verbally being able to mentally connect with others around him as a means of communication. Even now as a teenager, Brady doesnât speak verbally. There is only one documented case of Brady speaking at all and that was 18 years ago.
Flaws:
Overprotective
Mute
OCD about things being out of order or mislabeled
Tunnel vision
Description:
Brady doesnât like people all that much which is why it made sense that he wanted to work with animals. He is finishing up veterinary school and currently interning with the resident animal doctor who is a 90 year old human, and on his last leg. Itâs understood that Brady will be taking his place once he kicks the bucket. Amazing that a human of his age has survived the blight yet perfectly fit humans have fallen, wrong place wrong time he guesses.
When Brady isnât working, heâs with Kathy. Katherine is Brady's world and he feels the need to protect her from accidental contact with outsiders that may cause her harm. He is always found in close proximity to Kathy to guard her and protect her, in a way he feels he needs to keep her away from others, especially men, which is why she never strays far from his sight.
Brady and Katherine both work with the Anevay tribe. Midnight saw to their evacuation rather quickly so many members survived and the tribe didn't take as many losses as others did. The tribes are bound together, their past differences pushed aside by the need to survive, not to mention the council wouldn't tolerate a tribal war in the city and right now, it's the safest place on the planet. Kathy and Brady stay connected with their roots to honor their father. The tribe is still controlled by the Helling family, the majority of the family were successfully evacuated and survived. The prompt Delegate response to aid the Anevay also served to solidify the bonds between the organization and the tribe, they have become one of the Delegates strongest supporters and allies. Brady likes to think this would make his father happy, even if he didn't really know him.
Between work, the tribe, and keeping an eye on Kathy, Brady doesn't have a lot of free time but when he gets it he spends his time composing music. He may not speak but that doesn't mean he doesn't use his other senses, if anything it has made his hearing all the better and has given him a true appreciation for beautiful sounds. Brady can compose the most beautiful music, but when it comes to playing it, he's struck out. Brady can't play an instrument so he leaves that to his sister and grandmother, both of which are very musically talented.
Training:
Brady went to school like the other kids and pursued his chosen path. He is currently in his final years of interning with the resident vet. Combat training is difficult for Brady but not because he's bad at it, he doesn't like to fight. Brady prefers to use brains over brawn when it comes to a situation but he still attends combat training regularly, you can't exactly reason with a Specter.
History:
Katherine and Brady were young when the blight broke out. Brady was just an infant and doesn't remember much. Brady remembers very little of his parents but he has a few treasured memories and those he doesn't have, Kathy is happy to share with him.
The transition to Sequoia was easy for them, both children took very well to the heat, come to find out that's because the kids are fireproof. While they don't have a fire ability, they do have an affinity for it thanks to their mother. They don't feel heat at all and not even the hottest temperatures or flames will burn them.
Brady was a lot closer to the other Delegate boys before Kathy's ability took a dangerous turn. After that, while still close to them, he spent most of his time with his sister. Now anyone that wants to get near his sister, has to go through him first.
They live rather quiet lives. Kathy isn't allowed to join a team, train with strangers, or go on deployments due to her condition, and Brady refuses to go because he won't leave Kathy and he doesn't want to be involved in unnecessary combat. So they both do their jobs, fill their time with mutual hobbies, hanging out with the other Delegate teens, and hanging out with the tribes.
Personality:
Brady is quiet and shy but not just because he doesnât speak, he doesnât often communicate at all. Brady only communicates with people when he has something to say and that doesnât include mindless dribble. He is introspective, thoughtful, and is always contemplating the world around him. He doesnât trust easily but once he does that person is considered family.
He always appears to be thinking, and in fact he is. He evaluates others and how they behave, often using their actions as a base to judge how he wants to go about things. He doesnât believe in violence and will do anything to avoid it. He hopes someday the world will progress to a point when force is no longer needed, but he understands that the world isnât at the place yet and others must use force to stop force. He just isnât one of the people that could make tough calls, he couldnât decide between one life or another, couldnât kill a person to save one. Brady respects those that can make those choices, even if he doesnât understand how they could live with themselves afterwards. Specters are a different story since he believes they arenât people anymore, they are parasites, a virus that uses and feeds off people. They are probably one of the only creatures on the planet Brady is capable of killing. Thankfully he never has been forced to.
He is a bit OCD, and has a very particular way of doing things. Everything has a place it belongs in, he labels everything, and he canât function in a chaotic environment. This makes him great at his job since thereâs little room for things being mislabeled or out of place, but makes it difficult to cut loose or relax around disorganized people.
Brady prefers the company of animals, he finds the most comfort with them and appreciates the honesty an animal possesses. Humans and immortals are capable of deception, cruelty, and inflicting arbitrary pain on the world, animals arenât. Not to say he doesnât spend time with people, because he is around people plenty. He acts pretty average for a teenager except for the not talking bit. Others find his stoic nature appealing, his world views idealistic and refreshing.
If he does cut loose itâs only with his fellow Delegate teens or with his tribe. When heâs with them, he doesnât have to worry about Kathy getting hurt, and he can be himself. He isnât much of a party boy but heâs always at the teenâs parties usually laughing at the antics going on. Theyâre the only group of people that he can let his guard down with, that he can trust to take care of his sister, and can get out of his own head.
