Fears: Christian has a set of odd fears that most people would not expect. He is afraid of funerals, whether they are open casket or not. Just the fact that there is a dead body within twenty feet of him is enough to make his skin crawl. Christian is also afraid of lizards, although this is a minor fear. He can pick one up, but he wonât bring it within ten inches of his torso. He is afraid of swallowing pills, since he believes he will choke on them.
Personality: If there were three words to describe Christian, they would be intense, profound, and powerful.
Even when he appears self-controlled and calm there is a seething intensity of emotional energy under the placid exterior, just waiting to be shown to the outside world. He is like the volcano not far under the surface of a calm sea, it may burst into eruption at any moment. When it comes to being around people he knows, he is pretty pleasant to be with, thoughtful in conversation when one comes up, yet he is also reserved. This does not go to say that he is not affable and courteous, and presents wonderful manners that would make any girl fall for him.
Christian possesses a pair of penetrating eyes that makes any shy person in the room feel almost naked and defenseless before them. Itâs almost as if he can search a soul with just a mere glance, and he knows how to use this to his advantage. In his every day behavior, some would draw the conclusion that Christian is withdrawn from the center of activity, and this conclusion is correct. Anyone who knows him will also know that he possesses the watchfulness that is a part of his character. Self-discipline is something he needs greatly, for he knows the qualities that make him different from others, which can be used for great good, but also for great evil.
Christianâs tenacity and willpower are great indeed, and he is a profound being with many layers beneath his seemingly reserved one. On the inside, he is deeply sensitive, and also moved by his emotions and what he is feeling. This sensitivity mixed with his propensity for extreme likes and dislikes makes him an easy target to be hurt, and prone to horrible anger. This anger is what drives him to be overly critical, especially of people he dislikes, and is also what causes him to gain enemies. But he has never been one to care whether he is liked or not, so this does not bother him a great deal. He is a fantastic leader with a sense of right and wrong, and intimidating when he does not get his way.
History: The story itself starts in the small town of Littleton, Colorado, which is best known for the Columbine High School Shooting of 1999, but nothing more than that. This town is what Christian has known his whole life, from the minute he was born on a dark, November night.
Although he didnât know who his mother was from the beginning, he knew who his father was, a successful business man by the name of Connor Shaddix, who was the C.E.O of an important company in Denver. To put it bluntly, this company provided plenty of luxurious items, including a grand house, a multitude of cars, and a good education for Christian. Without his mother in the picture, the closest thing Christian had for a mother figure was his next door neighbor, Helena, who as thirty-five and had her own son right when Christian was born. Because of this, when Christianâs dad was out of town on business trips, Christian stayed with Helena and her son, Holden. As one can imagine, the two became close, and Helenaâs house became more of a home than Christianâs own home was to him. Since Helena was a French women and spoke it around the house, Christian actually began to pick up on the language, and even asked Helena to teach him the beautiful language.
It was around the age of seven that Christian started to question where his mother was, for every kid at school had both a mother and a father in the picture. This ended with nothing more than his dad telling him, âSome kids just donât get as lucky as to have both.â This is where Christianâs anger began, and he felt resentful towards his father. Didnât he deserve an explanation as to where his own mother was? He forgot about it for a while, and went on to make more friends other than Holden, although he always felt more comfortable being on the outside, and away from the action. With his father not home more and more often, he became more secretive, and even started to question if he was adopted. After all, he did not resemble his father whatsoever. Christian did not have his slightly crooked nose, his moss-green eyes, or his dark, messy hair.
The idea was absurd though, and he gave up on it. It was shortly after his eleventh birthday that things took an odd twist, and it started with a Friday night when Christian was home alone. By this time, Helena and Holden moved to New York, and Christian was old enough to stay home by himself. The doorbell rung once, and although he wasnât supposed to open the door to anyone, Christian went against the rule and did just that. At the door stood a beautiful woman. A woman who resembled Christian to a tee, from her perfect skin to her bright, blue eyes, to the golden hair. She knew his name as well, just who he was. If this was supposed to be scary, Christian sure didnât feel fear, in fact, he was curious as to how this woman knew everything about him.
Next to knowing his whole life story, she flooded Christianâs mind with tales of a school where he could go, a place where there were people as powerful as him, or her. Who was she, though? He didnât have to wonder for long, because she immediately told him. Aphrodite. Where had he heard that name before? A history book somewhere, perhapsâŠnot only this, she was his own mother. It was decided, he thought, fake or not, he would love to know. And so, after a long discussion with his father over the phone, in which Christian found out that his dad knew exactly what his mother was, it was set in stone. He would go to The Olympian Academy, and find out exactly what he is, as well as what he is capable of.
Anything else? Although he now knows about his mother, Christian doesnât particularly like her, nor is he close to his father. To him, they both betrayed him, and do not deserve his time. A fun fact about him is that he is ambidextrous, meaning that he can write with both of his hands, although he prefers his right one.
