PERSONAL FILE
Nicknames:
Most people call him Elias, though close friends and family will call him Eli. His mother still affectionately calls him Theo, a nickname he doesn't always appreciate due to it being his father's name.
Sexuality:
Pansexual
Personality:
Warm, Charismatic, Quick Thinker, Overly empathetic, Difficulty focusing on things in the real world
Elias is the bridge between the Omni-present store management and the staff. He can often be found in the backroom reading out new application forms to station management or reading books on other skills. While he is a generally charismatic and warm person to be around, he often gets lost with spirits, often making his exorcisms last longer than they need to. He's just as happy with store management as he is with the staff, making sure any... suggestions don't get to the management directly. He spends more time in the store than out of it, often the first person a customer comes into contact with.
If he isn't reading to management or in the store, you'll most likely find him out back smoking. It's a nasty habit he picked up in his teens but it often helps him focus on staying connected to the real world and often helps him calm down.
History:
Elias was brought up with 3 younger siblings solely by his mother. His father left just shortly before his 5th birthday, leaving his mother with two rambunctious pre-schoolers and pregnant with twins. Elias became the sort of "man" of the house, looking after his younger siblings when his mother was working. He still adores his Younger siblings (Maddox, his younger brother by a year, and the twins Isaac and Lena) and his mother.
At the age of 9, Elias began seeing things that weren't there, people mostly, sometimes animals. His mother of course, was terrified by this and sent him to several psychologists who attempted to diagnose him with something. Most of the psychologists chalked it up solely to an over-active imagination, although a few diagnosed him with early onset schizophrenia. A rigorous course of therapy and pills followed but even then, the heavily medicated Elias still saw what he was forced to dub 'imaginary friends'.
His mother often feared for him, trying to isolate a still sociable Elias, often threatening him with home-schooling if he mentioned anything about what he saw. He learned to ignore the spirits that trailed people, even the one at the playground that seemed to have taken a liking to Maddox. As he stopped talking about the spirits, the amount of pills decreased and by 12 he was fully off all meds. But finally on his 13th birthday, his father visited and explained something that he'd neglected to tell Elias's mother when they had met.
His father was a exorcist and medium, and a deadbeat.
And unfortunately, Elias was also an exorcist with a limited ability to communicate with spirits. However, he didn't quite inherit the ability to abandon his family.
He started learning Latin at 13. His father's gift to him to make up for 9 years of missed birthdays was a set of Latin text books and a few on exorcisms. Yeah, a totally great gift for a teenage boy.
At the young and impressionable age of 16, Elias stumbled across the address for the store on the side of a building, with the patented 'we can help' above it. With his little sister showing late onset signs of seeing spirits, he wanted to be prepared for it. Someone at the store managed to dig up a rather expensive guide to spirit working. The book was a little out of his price range and after a bit of haggling, he managed to get a job in order to pay it back. It wasn't the most glamourous of jobs but after he started working there and found that his affinity with spirits also gave him a little bit of a connection with the terrifying store management and then after paying the guide price back... well, he just didn't want to leave.
Likes:
Reading, Smoking, Conversing with Management and staff, he really likes that "bubble tea stuff y'know, the one with the weird egg looking bubbles?", coffee, and candle-light as often bright and sometimes even too much natural light can give him headaches. He's a huge fan of languages and usually learns at least a couple of useful phrases in common languages or just researches less known languages. His family remains his favourite thing in the world, whether he's helping Isaac with Spanish homework, Lena to museums or having lunch on Sunday with his Mom. He doesn't see Maddox as often anymore but they always call each other at the weekends.
Dislikes:
He's not a huge fan of wide Open Spaces and overly bright lights, often making school hell for him as a kid. He hates getting rid of what he sees as positive spirits attached to a person or a place. Elias is also scared of most animals however it isn't overly severe. He has a special kind of love-hate relationship with flies. They often signpost darker attachments which is a plus as he can prepare for what's ahead, but of course it's a double edged sword because the presence is usually something more darker and powerful which is usually hell for him to exorcise. Unfortunately he also doesn't like the smell of sage, a traditional herb which leads to him being creative with what he uses for cleansing.
