History-
Winnie was always the girl that everyone noticed but never really thought much about. She had one true friend that was the boy next door. Thomas was a kind boy who would often come over and play with Winnie. As they grew and started school they were usually in the same class and were pretty much inseparable. Winnie had always had a fondness for ballet and all through her childhood danced.
When she got into high school she continued to grow into friendship with Thomas. She even began to have feelings for him, but she was too shy to tell him. It was also at this point that Winnie decided she wanted to dance professionally. So things were set in motion for her to go to a performing college in California after she graduated from high school. Thomas wasn't happy to hear this but understood that it was something that Winnie wanted to do.
Winnie graduated with exceptional grades, Still even then as she was preparing to make her way to California she didn't tell him how she felt about him. After arriving at the school she became wrapped up in her life there and soon stopped contacting Thomas. Eventually she became acquainted with another guy by the name of David Ashmen. He acted as though he was generally in love with Winnie, but she still had feelings for the guy she left back at home. But after a party one night Winnie found herself pregnant with David's child.
Soon after the birth of their child Winnie and David got married. She thought that maybe this was her true love, but soon after the wedding she realized David's true nature. David was emotionally and physically abusive. At first she blamed herself for it and stuck with the relationship because she felt her son needed a father. But as Sawyer grew aggression was also turned on Winnie's son, this was something that she would not stand for so she decided that she would find a way to break things off with David.
This was a hard task due to David's controlling, Winnie was forced to quit her job as a dancer for a company and practically locked in their small two bedroom apartment. With her son about to start kindergarten she didn't want to risk having him removed from the home because of her husbands abuse. She snuck away one day to a neighbor's house while David was out and called her mother. She had been told not to talk to her family by David but she couldn't do it any longer. Her mother told her that she would send plane tickets for her and Sawyer to the friends apartment as to not tip David off. As soon as Winnie got the chance and the tickets, she packed some meager belongings, took Sawyer and left.
Now back in her home town she is coming to terms with the fact that her ex-husband had abused her for almost six years. And now she was free from him, through court proceedings and evidence presented against David by Sawyer's doctors over the years he was not allowed any visitation. She now has to try to do it all on her own, she is fighting to find a job, and prepare her son for his first year of elementary school. Moving back with her parents has brought back memories of Thomas and thoughts of what might have been if she had listened to her heart so many years ago. Now becuase she hasn't really had any contact with him since she left for college she fears that he might not want to have anything to do with her.
Anything else?
Winnie still fears her ex-husband will try to take her son away from her.
