"Sometimes I wonder if any of this actually matters at all, anything we do. Why do we continue to do the things we do when it's just going to start over from the beginning each time anyway? I could do anything I want and nobody could stop me, and even if they did, it wouldn't change anything. We aren't doing any good, we aren't making an actual, real impact on the world. We. Don't. Matter. So why not have some fun with the curse we've been given?"

Personality:
On one end of the stick, Dai's easily considered a good guy and a great friend. He'll happily help someone get the person they like (as long as he doesn't like them too, anyway, in which case he can be someone's worst enemy), and he has no problem staying up late texting some out of an issue they're having with so many emoticons it should be illegal. He seemed to be a pretty easy-going guy and he's definitely one of the more popular ones in the school for more reasons than one. He's the type of guy people give high-fives to when passing him in the hall on the way to class. He can get a little annoying from time to time, a little in your face, but it's hard to stay at a face like his. He used to hate seeing people ruin their potential back when it mattered, but a little of that has still stuck with him to this day. If he thinks someone would be good at something, but they're talking about giving it up even though it's their passion, he'll completely blow up on them--in a good way. He'll go on a total rant about how they need to go for whatever it is they want to go for, that they deserve anything they have coming to them. Nobody believes in potential like Dai believes in potential!--especially if it's leaning towards something he wants, which is more commonly the reason anymore now that having future dreams don't seem very important.

Dai is passionate about what others are passionate about, but that's just because he doesn't have much passion about anything himself. He used to. He really did. He had hopes and dreams and wishes just like the next guy way back in the day when it actually mattered, but over time, it all started wearing down on him. His enthusiasm for the future turned into cynicism and bitterness over the present, the very same present he'd been living over and over for years. He'll still cheer people on, but he's not as supportive as he may have once been. In the past, he would have told anyone they could accomplish anything and back himself up with specific, optimistic details, but anymore, if he thinks what someone wants to do is ridiculous, he'll have no troubles telling them so. With that said, one of the biggest things he finds ridiculous are those friends of his who want to change the world, those who want to make some sort of impact. Really, what's the point when everything's going to turn back to day one anyway? So you think you can cure cancer, big whoop. That lady's still gonna be in chemo at the end of the year. He prefers the darker side of things because they're fun, like shoplifting, pushing people off their bikes, sometimes worse things, but even there he doesn't have much enthusiasm. What good is ruling the world if time's going to change back? Nothing matters. That's his mind set. Nothing matters so he should do whatever he wants.

Around others, Dai can act like a total idiot. He likes to goof off and tell bad jokes. He's mischievous enough to pull pranks on his classmates, but whatever good nature he once had has tainted over the years. Sometimes, his pranks might be as innocent as dropping a bucket full of water over his teacher's head, while other times, they can be as drastic as pushing a student out in traffic, if that can even be considered a prank. He's done all sorts of things over the years. Usually, it takes a few things to work him up to the danger point since he really does try to be a pretty good guy in the meantime, but cross him the wrong way and someone could end up in the hospital.

While Dai has to toggle his nice-guy, not-really-that-nice-a-guy personality, most people just consider him a jerk. Over the years, people went from going to him for advice to going to him to dish some nasty details on people they hate. There are still people who go to him to have serious conversations, and he'll definitely hear them out. If he's in a giving mood, which he surprisingly may be in, he'll give it to them to the best of his abilities with complete honest sincerity, even if he knows it won't change a thing. Although it may seem on the outside like he's given up all hope on fixing their monotonous situation, that isn't entirely true. Deep down, even he holds a little bit of hope. Sometimes, he wonders if he says or does something a certain way if it'll change anything. He really hopes for the day that they can have their lives back, but he's nearly given up on it ever happening at all.
