Othuma

The God of Death

0 · 2,116 views · located in Creation

a character in “The Pantheon: Post Cataclysm”, as played by Seveneleven

Description

God Name: Othuma
Creed: "I am a perpetual force. I am always watching but never seen, I am always there but never in one place, I know of your health, flourishing or fleeting. You can never escape me, now matter how fast or how cunning. You will meet me, when you fall."
Title: The Specter, The Dead of Winter, Decay, The Harvester of Souls, The Chronicler, The Darkness, The Hallowed One.
Gender: Male
Alignment: Evil
God Appearance: The God of Death assumes numerous forms, for he is everywhere. Yet in the most personal of cases, he makes his appearance known in a few of his most favorite forms.
True Humanoid Appearance: Taking on the appearance of a bald, dark skinned humanoid. He wears a long, billowing hooded cloak, that is as dark as the night. Upon his face is a skeletal mask, which is actually apart of him, from where two dark, abyssal eyes peer back.

Image

True Creature Appearance: When assuming a more animalistic appearance, comes this. An odd amalgamation of a skeleton and a lizard, comes this predatory and menacing form. His speed is mentioned to be great in the form, as is his ferocity and blood lust.

Image

True God Appearance: A form unseen by most. A great pity should be felt for those who are unlucky enough to gaze upon the Death God's true appearance. For it is the last thing they shall ever see. While his power is great in his previous forms, his power is at it's optimal in this form. Such untold strength and destructive force, hasn't been seen since the days of Genocide and Malus.

Image

Personality: Othuma is a very curious being to say the least. While his ambition is clear, his being is not. Very much reserved and calculating, belies his often arrogant and theatrical appearance. He often acts very suave, cruel, and fiendishly deviant. And while his need to create flair, is more or less a ruse, to hide his more darker nature. A very methodical and cold individual, there is very much a method to his madness. He cares not for the lives harmed or lost in the process, all are merely pawns in his game. He cares not about the laws and order there are, between mortals or gods. Death, can never be controlled, it is a force of nature and can never be stopped. He does not relish in death, but merely embraces it and uses it as a mean to all ends. He is incredibly patient and fears little, as many fear him. His ambition however, is to become ruler of the gods and create an eternal state of death in the Middle Realm.

From an outside perspective, one could say Othuma, has been in place to fill the large hole left by gods before him. A deadly combination of the ambition of Genocide, the impalpable fear of Korterra, and the pure destructive force of Malus. (He doesn't actually take their spots or powers, just a description of him.) Able to shift in and out of shades of existence, create a chilling wind, or simply instill decay, are some of the formidable abilities of the God of Death. Othuma openly opposes the Sun and Preservation. In preference of the Night and Decay. His main enemy is Creation, Renewal.

Opinion of mortals: He really hasn't a bad opinions of mortals, after all they keep good business. Their continuous strife keep the death toll healthy and keeps his power at premium levels. He doesn't focus on causing more death to the mortals, but merely watches all until their times have come to it's conclusion.
God’s Domain: The Season of Winter is the Season of Othuma. All lands face the end of years and with it a deathly grasp that takes the life of nearly all plants and creatures that haven't the strength to survive.
God's territory: Far to the frozen wastes of the North. There life is little to none and where the nights can last for months.
Portfolios Governed: Death, Winter
Symbol(s): Scythe, Winter, Skulls, Bones, just some of the many of symbols that mortals associate with Othuma.

Equipment

The Scythe: Othuma's scythe is the very instrument that rips the soul from it's mortal bindings. Despite the ability to reap souls from the living, it cannot do so towards the immortal gods, but that doesn't mean they are safe. The Scythe is a very powerful and dangerous weapon and is known to cause great harm towards the gods. With the ability to cause continuous damage over time, it's no wonder the God of Death is a fearsome fighter indeed. The Scythe has two modes, Harvest Mode and Combat Mode.

Harvest Mode: The basic form of the Scythe and the source of it's soul ripping power. Not only can he harvest souls, he can also use the scythe to create portals for transport.

Combat Mode: An altered form of the Scythe. It's main purpose is for the combat of other immortals like him. Since the powers of Harvest Mode would do little to them, the Combat Mode provides much more better attributes geared towards godly conflicts. Othuma carries the Scythe in this form to face his kin in deadly combat.

The Armor of Death's Construction: As the name suggests, this is armor designed and made by Othuma himself. The armor is intricate and ornate, expressing both intimidation and outlandish themes. While he normally wears long, flowing robes and cloaks, he only dons the armor for combat purposes only.

Othuma

Othuma took the blue crystal ball and looked at it with curious eyes. "Extraordinary, I can hardly believe this could make babies." He spoke. "Yes, I must get this to them immediately." He said as he looked at Adarani. "Hm? Oh yes right my name, of course!" He spoke a bit embarrassed that he forgot to introduce himself. "You may call me, Othuma." He spoke. Despite the rather gentle and courteous nature of the god, it belies a different nature when he spoke his name. Something dark and quite cold. "Anyway I can't stay too long, I really need to get this Fertility stuff to my friends." He spoke.

Othuma wondered what Sithis, thought about all of this. He was sure there was more on the Snake God's mind than just fertility and dragons, but he does wonder why he chose not to show himself. Othuma is positive he has his reasons but still, does it seem rude? Well it doesn't matter he supposes. From what Sithis told him, they are gods and it shouldn't matter to them whether it seems wrong or right to them. They could do anything, anything they wanted. Like Adarani, she didn't have to give him any Fertility but she did. Just like he didn't have to go here and ask her for it, but he did. So why can't Sithis be a tattoo and not speak? It seemed to make sense to Othuma.

Shan

Shan looked at Othuma and then back at Adarani. So she was why cubs are made. Shan thought to himself. While thinking about cubs, he wondered if he would find a mate. He was old enough to find someone and make cubs with. At this moment though his wants and needs are nothing, compared to serving Othuma. His god comes first and foremost.

All was still as Kazus listened to the conversation between Adarani and Othuma. The god's request interested him. It not only confirmed his idea that Adarani was the right deity to consult about Mother's purpose, but introduced the fact that there was a race that was about to grow much larger, and possibly powerful. His decision to go with Othuma was sudden, but final.
The wind stirred, a strong gust encircling Ahuv. A firm but quiet voice came from the wind- "Please tend to Mother for a moment. I promise, you will be well rewarded if you keep her safe."
And then more loudly, without waiting for a reply from the crane- "Uncle, with me."
The wind suddenly rushed away, thanking Adarani for the information at the same time.
Even though the voice faded quickly and Uncle couldn't see his creator, he had no doubt about which direction he was headed. The wind had all rushed towards the other god that had interrupted his creator's conversation with the goddess, nearly leaving a vacuum in its stead. He flew towards the strange figure, feeling anxious leaving his sister in the care of strangers. He looked over his shoulder directly at the strange, blue bird. He gave it a combination of a stern look and a nod, that he hoped would imply the importance of the task he'd been handed.
The wind reached Othuma first. He felt a wind run across his shoulder and heard a whisper in his ear- "I am Kazus, the whispering wind. Would you mind if my mortal and I accompany you to see the dragons?
Uncle saw the god turn around, at first with an puzzled expression on his face. The tall, white bear accompanying him turned and looked back as well. This too seemed to be an animal blessed by a god- there was some feature about it, an intelligence in its eyes that Uncle's lunch hadn't shared. Not wanting to alarm them, Uncle landed far enough away that they could shout to him if necessary, hoping that Kazus would let him know when he should join the group.

Othuma

Othuma took his leave of the Goddess of Love and her company that was until, someone new introduced themselves. "Kazus huh?" "So your the person Adarani was speaking too." He didn't know where to turn so just address his immediate vicinity. "Why of course, I see no reason why you can't." "Just know that I cannot slow down, I must get this to them immediately." Othuma spoke as he soon summoned the weapon that tore open a portal. "I have yet to name this long blade stick, but I shall on my own time." Othuma spoke as he once again ripped open a portal.

"Well then, Wind God I shall see you on the other side." He happily spoke as he stepped through. He was then followed by Shan. Othuma waited for Kazus to breeze through before he closed this portal.

Mathias

Mathias watched as their community had grown, a bit too much in population. Looking to expand and inhabit other areas of their valley, some Valeish have packed their belongings and began using animals as transportation. The local wild horses provided excellent animals for such labor. Loading up wooden carts, entire families saddled up and left the main settlement as they searched for more land.

Mathias over saw their pilgrimage and saw that other areas of the valley were slowly becoming inhabited. New towns soon popped up as more Valeish entered the world. With all of the different settlements, it won't be long before a government is needed. That is where Mathias' teachings will shine, soon they will have the most well-organized, most sturdy government of all. In the midst of excitement soon came a being he was familiar with. It was one of Keindra's sons. He greeted Mathias.

"Good day to you Vallance." Mathias spoke as he gave a friendly wave. He then stated his buisness. "Hm? They wish to speak with me?" He asked. "Well then, I welcome any opportunity for a visit, I was just in the middle of tending to my people." Mathias happily spoke. "I shall wait for their arrival my friend." Mathias spoke as he waited for the other gods.

With Adarani:
Mother watched intensely as the figure cloaked in luminescent silver warped, gradually growing taller. It took longer than she had expected, but the character that emerged from the light seemed well worth the wait. Staring at Ahuv, mouth slightly ajar, Mother drank in his image. He had relatively the same shape as she and her brother had, but his wings were still that beautiful shade of blue. Through the clothing, she could see that he was muscular, but not massively and threateningly so the way Uncle was. It was as she was watching the way his muscles moved beneath the blue cloth that the Blue Monk turned towards her.
"Well, 'Mother', what do you think?", he asked.
This was the first time he'd looked directly at her in this form. Her eyes danced around his face, seemingly absorbing every feature individually before eventually coming to rest on his own silvery blue eyes. Her cheeks reddened.
"I... ", she began. There was a feeling coursing through her body that was especially intense when she looked at the monk. It hit some of the same places as Ahuv's granting of fertility. Is this... attraction? Her thighs clenched together involuntarily and she turned her back towards Ahuv. Feeling embarrassed was a first for her.

With Kazus:
As soon as the Death God confirmed they could come Kazus reached out his winds to propel Uncle forward towards the group. The condition that they mustn't slow Othuma down wouldn't be an issue. Not only could the whispering wind blow at nearly any speed (carrying Uncle with him), but he was also interested in meeting the dragons and wouldn't be deterred by anything.
Suddenly Othuma held what appeared to be a weapon. With the winds still encasing Uncle, Kazus felt him tense up at the sight until the god turned and slashed at the air with it. At first it appeared that the air was splitting where the god had cut it. But as the rift opened it was clear that it was not the air, but the very space had that split apart, revealing a portal.

The Middle Realm

They were gnawing at the wall, pushing at it trying to get through. It bubbled and swirled, colors unimaginable blossomed and vanished in the blink of an eye. It seemed to take shapes but then lost them immediately. The Chaos, The Wilds, it had many names but it cared not. It's only wish was to expand. It pushed at the barrier and the barrier pushed back. Then the barrier gave way. Chaos beasts rushed into the world, weakened by the barrier that they had pushed through. The Barrier closed instantly but enough of the creatures had appeared to cause trouble. They began attacking and destroying everything in their paths and turning more creatures into beasts like them. Geographically these beasts were contained at the far North, far South, far East, and far West borders of the Wilds. But eventually they began to expand pushing farther and farther into the Middle Realm as they came...

Laska

The young goddess looked at Merida and Keindra. She understood all that they had told her but she did not wish it to be true. The god of War was dead, that wasn't a good thing, but she could only feel glad. In the end she took as somber of a face as she could and followed Merida and Keindra to go see Mathias. When she got there she let the other two do all of the talking. She only spared them part of her attention. The rest was focused on the purple mortals running around and setting up cities. She nearly clapped her hands in delight at the sight of them. They were so peaceful and happy.

Sithis

Sithis had not spoken while Othuma had asked Adarani for help. Its attention had been on the prayers of the snakes who told of many mortal affairs and also of gods. Sithis was still gathering information when they returned to the Northern wastes. When it finally snapped out of its reverie it slithered out of its tattoo form and onto the shoulders of the god of death. Then it noticed the new mortal and the godlike presence.

"Who iss thiss Othuma?" Sithis asked with feigned politeness. "Why did you bring another god here?" Then it sniffed the air with a flick of its tongue. "Trouble approachess. Gather your weaponss. Chaoss comess."

Crysalis

Crysalis arrived at a new city on her way to the ocean. Here were very different mortals from the Klik'kik-t. All of them wore masks and they all seemed to hold malice for something or another. Crysalis could feel the Crystal nearby so she lessened her godly aura so that Nylia might not sense her. Crysalis entered the city proper and found herself bombarded by dirty looks. She was not welcome...That would change very soon indeed.

The Crystal

The Crystal had been watching Nylia's every movement. She did not seem to be angry at Jute, or even revengeful at the moment. She seemed to be absorbed in the war. That was good. The Crystal remained quiet for most of the time as Nylia moved about the world, doing as she wished. When she returned to the masked mortals the Crystal finally spoke up. It is time that the war is started. If these mortals do nothing then I can call others to the war effort instead. As for our relationship, I would like your opinion on something. The Crystal paused for response. What are your feelings for Jute now?

Acanthus

Riomu was healing at a fast rate and schools all over the Fortress were teaching the History of the Middle Realm among many other subjects. Acanthus and Torsc were now meeting on a weekly basis, their project was nearing its completion. The Time Bubble as well was nearing its cessation period. The two gods were planning to unveil their new creation at the Ceremony of Release. Acanthus had never been happier than he was in the Bubble, but he knew that when it ended he would be able to start his new plan for a better and safer Middle Realm.

The Middle Realm

In the West, Southwest, and Northwest, the Chaos Beasts were being driven back. The Sacrirans were putting all of their effort into driving off the many Abominations that were threatening them. The Beasts in those areas had been greatly lessened and all were finding very little to expand their numbers with. As the Beasts were destroyed, the water that they had been in contact with returned to its normal state, the creatures within its depths remained mostly unaware. Some Chaos Beasts had tried to go underwater but were quickly repelled by Nylia’s faithful there.

Far to the North and South the Chaos beasts had barely any creatures to feed upon and so the numbers remained small, however they were mostly unchecked and they began to spread out and cover more land as they searched for creatures to prey upon and change into more Abominations.

In the East the many forests were teaming with life. As the Chaos Beasts attacked and fed upon the many creatures there their numbers began to swell at a rapid pace. The Chaos beasts roamed through the forests, ripping apart the fabric of nature itself as they attacked anything and everything in their way. As of yet the major threat to the East was the worst and yet it still remained unchecked…

In Paradise:

Mother became terribly frightened as a quiet time with Ahuv suddenly became interrupted by Adarani's directions and being hurriedly led through a portal. But once she was through, she was stunned by the beauty and stillness of her new surroundings. She turned towards Ahuv and found his wonderful eyes meeting hers. He began explaining where they were and that they were safe. She didn't understand exactly what was going on, but she was glad to be safe and that she'd be able to spend some time in such a gorgeous place alone with Ahuv. Even though she had known him for so short a time, she trusted him completely. It was so different from how she felt around Uncle. They both made her feel safe, but Ahuv made her feel... comfortable. She watched as he closed his eyes and began praying. She continued watching him and took a few steps towards him, still in awe at this humanoid form of his. Taking advantage of their seclusion, she wrapped her arms around him and rested her head on his chest, drinking in his warmth.

In the North:

Kazus carried Uncle through the portal and noted Othuma closing it behind him. No sooner had they arrived, than another god began questioning Othuma about bringing company. Quickly changing the subject, it added "Trouble approuchess. Gather your weaponss. Chaoss comess." As Kazus realized that the events that he had foreseen were coming into fruition, he received a prayer from Ahuv. He was glad to hear that the crane was taking his task seriously and turned his attention to his only other mortal.
Uncle was panickedly looking around, no doubt trying to figure out which direction his sister was relative to them. "Kazus!", he cried. "Mother is in danger and I need to-"
The wind descended upon him from above, almost as though trying to hold him in place. "Relax," the voice said. "Your sister is safe for now."
The wind then blew towards Othuma. "If you have a force mortals that are ready for combat, please make use of my mine in anyway you see fit."

Othuma

Othuma watched as his new companions stepped through the portal as he closed it behind them. "Well here we are and now I just need to find them." He spoke as he wandered the frozen plains. Sithis returned from the tattoo that he was currently disguised as. He soon asked why he bothered to bring others. "Well it's simple really, they asked to see the Dragons, I do not see why I shouldn't allow it." He spoke rather matter-of-factly. Then Sithis turned rather pensive as he soon spoke about chaos coming their way. "Chaos?" Othuma was hopelessly confused as to what made him say that.

"Why do I need to gather weapons?" "What is this 'Chaos' you speak of?" Othuma asked. Then it appeared Kazus was acting up as well as he soon breezed by his ear. "Ready for Combat?" He spoke dumbfounded. "I do not see any reason for combat." Then he saw it some odd creature roaming around in the snow. It was strange to say the least and then he remembered something, when he was first born he did see some rather disturbing things towards the North. This must be it and it must be why they have to fight it. "But I know nothing of Combat." He cried. "You must be more prepared than I, you two should start the first strike and I will do my best to follow." He spoke, hoping someone else with more experience would take initiative. He would follow in style hopefully gain some experience in combat.

Shan

The Chaos Beast noticed the group of gods and then charged. Shan noticed the hesitation in his master's words. He did not wish to see him stricken down in his first fight. He had to protect him and allow his god to live. Shan jumped forth between them and the beast and attacked it. While he did put up a valiant effort the beast alone was too much and he was badly injured the beast prepared to transform him before Othuma intervened.

Othuma

"NO!" Othuma yelled as he instantaneously stood between the beast and Shan. His Scythe underwent a new transformation. Unlike it's previous form this one was more sinister, more jagged, more dangerous. The Scythe kept the Beast's Claw at bay as it was stuck on the jagged blade. "No why did you do this?!" Othuma shouted. But Shan only managed a smile before his life passed. Othuma saw the soul of Shan and was infuriated. "NO!" "You are not allowed to die!" He shouted as he touched the soul and forced back into his body. Shan gasped for air as if he was drowning. He was stunned that his god saved his soul. Before he could react Othuma knocked the beast aside. It charged. Then with a quick slash of his new scythe, Othuma left a deep gash in the beast's shoulder as it nearly severed the arm.

The beast moved aside as it tried to reform it's arm. Yet, as it tried the wound began to spread. From the slash the beast was beginning to decay. Much like his shoulder the rest of it's body began to crumble as the decay spread. It's arm fell off as the beast felt the Touch of Death covering it's body, forcing it to die. Soon the beast itself fell apart and disintegrated into dust. Othuma noticed what he did. It was much like what happened to the mama bear, but on a much more larger and more aggressive scale. Othuma looked over to Shan, who was just on the precipice of death then spared an early afterlife as Othuma returned his soul back to his body, like he did with the Dragons. He was still wounded but death would not come to him that easily. "Well I guess I'll just do that again if we find more." Othuma spoke. "I should find the other Werebears, get Shan to safety and find those dragons." Othuma spoke as he planned his next moves.

Mathias

Mathias was nearly startled by the sudden appearance of a Sacriran. He spoke of gave news and before he could do anything, it seemed he perished. Mathias' face grew grim as he looked towards Vallance. "I'm afraid this meeting will have to wait, this is an ill omen and I must prepare." Mathias grimly spoke. "You should return to Keindra, and tell him to arm himself for we are in a world of trouble." Mathias warned as he dismissed Vallance. "I must defend my Valeish, I will not allow any beast to enter this valley, not while I still live." Mathias spoke as he turned away from Vallance and hovered above the great valley. He drew his Spear and then in a long while Justice spoke.

"It seems you are about to use my power for your own ends again." Justice plainly spoke.

"Yes, but I am doing it for my people." Mathias explained.

"I am not rather fond of your exploitation recently...I am here to assist not be used." Justice warned.

"Please I must do this, you know what they are capable of." Mathias retorted.

"Yes, although this type of problem wouldn't have occurred if it wasn't for you and your kin's constant meddlings." Justice spoke.

"What makes you say that?" Mathias asked.

"What other reason could there be for such a creature to exist, if it wasn't caused by a god." Justice answered.

"I have no idea what god would want such a thing but now is not the time for the past, now is the time for action." Mathias stated.

Justice merely sighs. "I see this issue has clouded your mind from other options, I shall grant you use of my power, but we need to resolve this issue immediately." Justice spoke. He then gave some of his energy to Mathias.

"Thank you." Mathias spoke as felt the radiant energy coursing through him.

With the Righteous Power of Justice he was able to set up an area of defense. While the surrounding mountain ranges provided an excellent wall, he needed to be aware of attacks. So he enlisted a field of vision and now he will notice if a Chaos Beast does enter his lands. If one does then he will act quickly and decisively. He began to worry about Adarani. He felt the urge to find her and help her, but his duties to his people stood in the way. While he did selflessly prepared to defend the Valeish, he began to doubt his choice. What if she needed him more? Should he abandon his people in this dire time to help Adarani? If Mathias began to extend the power Justice gave him to cover Adarani and her people, he will be upset. What should he do? He can't be in two places at once. Even if he did help Adarani, what if the beasts attack The Valeish? Besides the mountains they have no other way to defend themselves. Their population isn't great enough to support a war effort. Not unlike the Sacrirans. They would be destroyed in a matter minutes by the beasts. He can't leave them unsupported. What is more right? Protecting the Valeish or Helping Adarani? Such a conundrum left Mathias flustered and ragged. What should he do?

In Paradise:

Mother felt Ahuv reciprocate her gesture of affection, wrapping his arms around her as well. She noted the warmth of his hands on her bare back and let a sigh of contentment escape her lips. All was silent for a moment, until Ahuv whispered "I guess we should find someplace to rest, should we? A bench, perhaps, to sit and talk?"
Mother pressed herself more firmly against his body. She didn't want to move. She was comfortable exactly where she was. But she was feeling rather tired. Maybe resting somewhere would help. "Carry me." She murmured, her head still buried in Ahuv's chest, and folded her wings tightly against her back.

In the North:

By Othuma's reaction to the idea of fighting, Kazus could tell that he wasn't the militant type and realized he'd made some assumptions about the personality of the god of death. However, when a beast suddenly appeared, nearly killing the death god's mortal, Kazus saw the aggressive side of Othuma. However, it was the ferocity of the chaos beast that left a greater impression on the whispering wind. If just one of them could kill that bear, what chance did Uncle stand in a battle against these beasts?
Othuma spoke, interrupting Kazus's thoughts- "I should find the other Werebears, get Shan to safety and find those dragons."
The wind swirled strongly. From the wind came "Make haste. Uncle and I will hold them here."
Uncle said nothing, but it was clear to his creator that he was uncomfortable with this plan. A breeze tickled Uncle's ear, whispering into it "What's on your mind?"
"Not only is this a hopeless fight..." started Uncle, "but it isn't even our fight. You created me to protect mother, not fight monsters that couldn't even harm her. I thought you said she was safe for now?"
The wind suddenly blew so strongly that it nearly knocked Uncle over. Kazus had expected a voice of concern, not one of dissent. A voice boomed out of the wind "And if the world descends into chaos?" Uncle flinched. "Then nowhere will be safe for Mother?" The voice decreased in volume, not all the way back down to Kazus's usual whisper, but to a clear and firm tone. "If you want to protect your sister, then protect the land she lives in."
Uncle nodded, but still looked uncertain. He knew that he wouldn't even be a hindrance to a group of those beasts. Fortunately, his creator knew this too and had come up with a plan.
Kazus had made his first two creations in the form of the first god he'd seen. But now it seemed time to make some mortals in his own image. The winds swirled and blew at gale force speeds. Uncle shielded his eyes as the winds tossed dust and rocks alike. When the cloud of dust cleared, he could see rocks of various sizes suspended in the air by the wind as far as he could see.
After waiting for a moment, Uncle spoke up. "Why are you holding those rocks up." The wind stirred behind him and he heard a chuckle. "I'm not."
Suddenly the wind suspending the rocks began moving them into humanoid shapes. Where heads, chests, hands and feet belonged The figures had rocks of appropriate sizes where heads, chests, hands and feet belonged. In between these suspended rocks, pebbles and dust flew animatedly.
Uncle stood in awe. He estimated that there were over 40 of them. "They're... made out of rocks?"
"No," his creator answered. "They're made of wind. But wind isn't an inherently offensive element. So they use earth in their form to fight. This also separates them from me in appearance. Kazelites!"
The wind creatures turned towards Uncle and stood at attention. "This is Uncle. You will do exactly as he tells you to. There will be beasts coming from the north. We need to hold them off." Suddenly the wind spoke more softly to Uncle. "Stick to the skies. Not only will it give you a better idea of where to tell the kazelites to go, but... the kazelites should do more of the ground fighting. They're not very vulnerable to physical attacks." Then Kazus blessed Uncle's lungs with the ability to generate a wind when he spoke that could carry his commands wherever he wanted them to go. This way, even from the sky, Uncle could speak to specific kazelites over the sounds of combat.
Uncle flapped his wings, raising high above the wind soldiers that all seemed fixated on the north. He saw dark blobs appear on the horizon, drawing closer. It wasn't until they drew close enough that Uncle could make out each individual beast that he spoke, using his new abilities to direct his words to all the kazelites at once- "They're nearly here. Prepare for battle."

Othuma

Othuma nodded as he heard Kazus would help keep more of these things at bay. Then he was relatively stunned as he saw Kazus create what looked like rock people. Still whatever they can do, he was happy to see them. Othuma lifted Kazus upon his shoulders using godly strength. He then looked at Sithis on his shoulder and then left leaving Kazus and Uncle deal with the beasts. Othuma quickly slashed open a portal as his scythe reverted back to normal. He stepped through and found himself amongst a civilization. The Werebears had been busy as they have grown in number and seemed to have form tribes all along the Northern Forest. Othuma entered one of these tribes.

The Werebears immediately ran to their god and bowed before him. Giving him praise and speaking of their prayers. He now realized where all of those voices in his head came from. He had been meaning to mention it to Sithis, but never found it a priority. He already seemed to get the gist of it. The most frequent prayer was basically the same, if they were to die today, then let their souls find peace. Something Othuma always gave a nod for. But he was not here to find peace for their souls but to ask of their help. "Greetings my Werebears." "Your gracious God of Death calls for your assistance." The bears hushed. "One of your own was attacked and nearly killed!" "He is to receive treatment immediately!" He commanded as the Werebears rushed to take the injured Shan into care. "The Beast that has done this was not the only one." "More will come and do the same to you, if you don't defend yourselves now!" "I ask that you prepare for combat!" Othuma commanded.

For awhile the Tribes have done well and did their best to follow Othuma's wishes of populating and praying to him. In recent times however some tension has been brewing, between the Devouts and the Naturalists. The Devout Tribes, constantly praised Othuma for giving them in life. The Naturalists miss their former lives as plain Bears and have been wishing to revert to normal. This has cause religious tension, as the Devouts believe the Naturalists are being blasphemous for believing their gift is a curse. While the majority are Devout the Naturalists have several tribes and have threaten conflict. With Othuma's call to arms this might lead to release much aggression that has been storing up. The Werebears took their arms and prepared a War Chant. The Elders banged drums as the painted their Warriors. They sent messengers to all Tribes and asked for their compliance. The Devouts naturally prepared for battle. The Naturalists were reluctant at best. But they do realize the Beasts are a problem and prepared for battle as well.

The Werebears soon mobilized and headed North. "Yes my friends, go to the North and help the Kazelites in their battle!" Othuma commanded as the Werebears continued to Chant. They marched and soon would reach Kazus. "That settles one problem and now on to their other." Othuma spoke as he opened another portal and soon found himself before a dragon. The female Ice Dragon bowed before the arrival of the gods. "My Lord, have you brought the Fertility?" she asked. "Yes but trouble is on the horizon the-" "Yes, the Chaos Beasts, Frostwing spoke of them." "Oh so you know, that's great!" Othuma spoke. "Yes and I know what you want but we cannot go to battle, not with our numbers so pitiful." She spoke with great saddness. "Then hide yourselves, we shall deal with these pests." "For now bring me to the others I need to give you the fertility." Othuma spoke. The Dragon brightened up and then did as she was asked. Othuma found them hiding out in that deep cave he originally found Frostwing's soul. He spoke of recent events and Frostwing nodded. "I thank you God of Death for this boon." "We shall make hatchlings in your honor." Frostwing spoke. Othuma smiled as he focused the light blue orb into the Dragons. They felt invigorated and were very much anxious to start procreation. Othuma left them to their privacy.

Mathias

A voice penetrated Mathias' thoughts. It was Mérida! He saw the Goddess of Nature and Keindra as well. Also Laska seemed to be with them. He dropped to their sides. "I know you all must be dreadfully busy, especially you Mérida." He spoke as he saw her drop. "I hate to ask this but could you perhaps, watch my people for a moment?" Mathias a bit nervously asked. But then came the person he was worried about, Adarani. "Oh thank goodness your alright." "When I saw your Sacriran fell I feared the worse." "I was about ready to come to your islands to help, but it seems their fine, right?" Mathias asked. "You really shouldn't have come, I would have came to you if you needed me too." Mathias spoke as he felt a bit ashamed that Adarani had to come to make sure he was fine. Was he weak? He felt very useless and the what nerve it must be that Adarani had to check up on him. He made her worry and made her leave, all because he was indecisive.

"I am sorry you had to leave New Sacrira just to make sure of my well-being." "You must think of me as pathetic that you had to do such a thing." Mathias then sighed. "Never mind my kin, there is no need for you to watch them, it's alright now." He spoke dismissing them of any duties he placed on them. He then looked as The Valeish continued on with their lives, perfectly oblivious of the growing danger. Mathias then heard a voice, but it wasn't a prayer no it was...a God? He heard of the voice and remembered it's owner. That one New God of Madness. He must have encountered a Chaos Beast, they really are here."Yes, it was a Chaos Beast, be wary these things are the reason why The Cataclysm occurred." "They are very powerful, after all they have slain gods before." Mathias warned Veltrez, hopefully he will take them to heart.

The chaos beasts ran enthusiasticly towards the wind creatures, mutating as they moved across the earth, corrupting it as they went. Unable to sit back and watch passively, Kazus created the strongest wind he'd ever made and hurled it over his kazelites towards the chaos battalion. The great wind lifted a portion of the beasts in the middle of the group off the ground, blasting them farther north than the eye could see. Suddenly, the whispering winds felt slow. He realized that even gods must have a limit to their power and he had very nearly exceeded his, creating a small army and creating that destructive gust. The wind now swirled slowly behind the battle lines. "I will be no more use to you during this battle", he whispered to Uncle.
Uncle nodded, and observed the battle field. The chaos beasts were upon the kazelites. As the first one dove at the nearest kazelite, the wind being propelled one of the fist rocks forward into the monster. While this stopped the beast where it was, it didn't even seem to injure it in it's wildly mutating form. The rock that the kazelite used however, dropped to the ground, corrupted. It was clear to Uncle that while the kazelites themselves were immune to the affects of these strange beasts, the earth that they used for combat was not. The beast roared and swiped at the kazelite's head stone, its claw momentarily solid, no longer warping with the rest of its body. Uncle was realizing the implications of this when he suddenly heard a screech near his elevation. Looking up from the ground far below him, he saw that one of the beasts had mutated wings and was flying towards him. Uncle braced himself, lowered his horns, and began flying at the chaos creature. "For Mother.", he whispered to himself. The beast mutated, growing claws and horns that matched Uncle's. They were nearly about to collide when the chaos beast morphed involuntarily, its wings collapsing inwards and shrinking back into its flesh. Reacting quickly, Uncle swung his tail down into the beasts solidified head, crushing it. He watched the body fall from the sky. Uncle reflected on what he'd seen of the beasts so far and realized that what they attacked with became solid and what was solid was vulnerable.
"Kazelites," he started, speaking to all of them at once. "The beasts are only vulnerable when they stop mutating. When they attack, strike the solid parts of their body." Although the chaos beasts had been pushing the wind soldiers back, forcing them to drop the rocks they held and retreat to obtain new ones, the tide of the battle turned and the kazelites held the monsters exactly where they were, striking only parts that weren't mutating and avoiding the corruption of their tools.
It was then that Uncle heard a multitude chanting. Looking to the south, he saw an army of animals that looked like Othuma's mortal, the first one attacked by the beasts. He flew towards their ranks. "Are you here for battle?", he asked them.

Ma' Katorian

The Werebears stopped as Uncle approached them and spoke. The army of Werebears merely stared at Uncle, unsure of what he is or what to say. This was the first time they met a race outside of their own and it was a bit stunning. It was then a lone, young Werebear spoke up amongst the crowd. "Yes." The Werebears turned their heads towards a young one, barely old enough to enter battle. He approached Uncle unafraid and spoke to the being. "Our lord, Othuma has asked of us to assist in this battle, we are going to make them pay for harming one of our own." He spoke rather matter-of-factly. The others nodded and grunted in agreement.

They saw the beasts and the Kazelites battling. The Werebears then gathered in a formation and then came a roar. A bestial roar penetrated the sounds of battle as all of the bears gave a war roar. The Werebears then charged at the beasts and drew their weapons. Some of the Chaos Beasts noticed the sudden arrival of more numbers. In their greed some broke from the main offense to corrupt the bears. Soon in primal clash the Werebears and the Chaos Beasts fought with bitter savagery. It looked like pure carnage as the bears went to rip and tear into their shifty opponents. The Beasts solidified and fought back with claws of their own. Some Werebears fell and became corrupted, but thankfully their constant offense did see some of the beasts overwhelmed.

The Young Werebear that spoke stood out, as he managed to slay a couple of the beasts himself. Thanks to the help of his comrades. This was the first time he was in battle and while it was frightening, he is a proud Werebear and knows as long as The God of Death favors them, then death will not visit their people today. It will be death that visits the beasts!

Othuma

The God of Death appeared near Kazus as he watched the battle unfold. He was glad his Werebears arrived and have taken to battle. He hoped they would shift the odds in their favor. "I see you've stepped back, I did not take too much time I hope." Othuma spoke. "I have never seen combat before...such death, it's almost intoxicating." Othuma spoke rather absentmindedly. "I hope your people do not die this day, it will be said to see so many souls lost." He spoke rather pained in his voice. He didn't like seeing souls leave, let alone disappearing and becoming something else. Still the air was filling with death and Othuma was beginning to feel a bit drunk. There was a steady rise in his power, something Othuma never experienced before. When he said it was intoxicating, there was some truth to it. Perhaps he should speak to Sithis about it once this mess is over.

In the North:

Uncle returned to the skies as the Werebear joined into the fray. The chaos beasts seemed to prefer corrupting living flesh to suspended chunks of earth and many rushed past the kazelites towards the Werebear army. Once this happened, of course, the beasts were at a major disadvantage, being between two enemy armies. While they attacked the Werebears, the kazelites struck with their stones from behind. If they turned to face the kazelites, the Werebears strove forwards, slashing and clawing at their backs. More than one Werebear became corrupted and joined their enemies, but it was clear that the number of beasts was dwindling. Uncle swooped down occasionally, striking at a chaos beast with his tail or ripping into an exposed limb with his claws. When the fighting ceased, he landed. A Werebear lying on the ground struggled and shrieked, mutated flesh beginning to roll across it's body. Although he understood it was necessary, Uncle still winced as one of the kazelites nearby crushed its head with a foot stone. He turned to the remaining Werebears and, at a loss for words, nodded in appreciation for all that they'd sacrificed in battle.

In Paradise:

Mother loved the way being carried by Ahuv felt. His strong arms around her bare body, his hand on her legs. She curled into him until he set her down on a bench. She listened intently as he explained the history of the cataclysm to her. But when he suggested that she should rest, she couldn't disagree. And when his perfect silvery blue eyes met hers, though she just wanted to remain gazing into those eyes forever, she closed hers and lay down on the bench, resting her head on Ahuv's lap.

Mathias

Mathias was rather taken back by the hug from Adarani and then Mathias only sighed. "I just didn't want to worry you was all." Mathias spoke explaining himself. "I am glad you came though." "I would have ended up doing the same thing anyway." He spoke as he smiled. He then looked over to Mérida and then frowned again. "Mérida looks really terrible and I'm concerned about her." Mathias spoke as her turned towards Adarani. "Could you perhaps do something for her?" Mathias asked.

Othuma

Othuma watched as the Werebears and the Kazelites managed to defeat the score of beasts. But during this event, even though their was victory, he felt defeat. Earlier Othuma saw a Beast killed by a Werebear, but in the process the warrior became like one of them. What was more, that same Werebear charged at Othuma. At first he didn't want to hurt him, perhaps he could save him from this fate. The bear launched himself at the God of Death and of course he dodged. Then he tried to lie his hands upon him, in an effort to relive him. Unlike with dead bodies he discovered his abilities had no effect on him.

Othuma's mouth dropped agate as he found himself, for the first time powerless. Reasons he could not explain, he was incredibly disturbed by this. Always he could do anything, anything he wished for he is a god. Yet, that entire preconception was nullified before this beast. Why? Why can't he do anything to change this!? This frustrated him and the he was struck. Pain, pain from before. His eyes clinched with rage and Othuma mercilessly cut him down with his scythe. Then, at that moment he shook his head as if he was in a dream. What he did right there felt completely different than usually. Normally he attacks things in defense but that time...was different.

That moment left an impression on him and after the violence was seemingly over, he sighed with relief. From that moment he hoped that the beasts are finished. He doesn't want to experience being powerless again. For some reason it did something to him...he really needs to speak to Sithis, alone.

Laska

So much had been happening all at once. The world wasn't at peace, the gods and goddesses around her had met and greeted each other like old friends. Laska hadn't known Adarani personally but she had seen her before. She knew Mathias a bit and Merida had stayed with her the longest. Laska watched quietly as they all began speaking of the chaos beasts. Even now she thought she could feel chaos pulling at her, whispering evilly in her ear. It almost sounded like one long hiss. She could feel herself tremble at what felt like fear of the creatures that threatened the purity and innocence of the world.

Laska was shivering as Merida fell to the ground in obvious pain. She was still too shy to react or say anything. It wasn't until Adarani had introduced herself that Laska had regained control over her emotions. She looked at the five other individuals, all much bigger than her, and suddenly felt more alone than she had ever been. Her thumb in her mouth, she reached out, almost instinctively for Merida's hand. (She only knew Merida well enough to even attempt it with her. The others were too scary and foreign.) She looked at them all with wide eyes, still trembling in fear. She took her thumb out of her mouth just long enough to say, "But what are we gonna do?"

Sithis

Chaos beasts flew and struck at giant bear men and floating rocks. Sithis was still listening to the stream of prayers that came from around the world. Not only snake prayers flooded Sithis’ mind now. The Klik’kik-t all sent prayers to Jute as well as creatures that obviously dwelled beneath the surface of the sea. Jute was filled with the knowledge of the location and activities of nearly every god and mortal of interest. Sithis saw an auction of godly artifacts, bloody battles between chaos beasts and trees, and many other activities of creatures both great and small. The most interesting occurrences that the snakes reported were the births of two gods. One left a cave high in some distant mountains and the other was deep in some dark caves, trembling in fear though there were no enemies nearby.

Sithis took all of this in even as Othuma struck down one of his own creations that had been corrupted. Othuma seemed distraught and full of malice as he killed his bear. Sithis knew that the battle was nearly over and that soon he would be able to speak to Othuma in peace. He spoke to Othuma, letting the prayers slide into another part of Jute’s mind. “I am here for you, my friend. Do not let yoursself be overtaken by emotion. We sshall sspeak when we can of the problemss facing you.”

The Crystal

"I see Jute as someone who can help me rid this world of the impure Gods, to rid the world of the disgust that they have installed in their creatures. I don't personally like her yet I respect her...I see her as a possibly great ally." Nylia had said.
The Crystal remained silent, considering the truth of those words. Jute had no love for any god. She hated them all, perhaps not evenly, but she did not ‘like’ anyone. However, allies did not have to like each other, they simply had to work together. The fact that Nylia considered Jute’s enemies to be ‘corrupted’ was enough to work with. The Crystal continued to work with Nylia as she had need and also focused on the prayers of some mortals.
Then Nylia spoke again, this time contemplating the stolen weapons of gods. "I'm not that interested, but I'm now wondering, wouldn't the power inside the weapons be gone by now? And if not, wouldn't it be too powerful for mortal hands and end up killing the mortals anyways?"
The Crystal responded, If these items do hold power, they will be greatly diminished with the loss of their wielders. Any mortal who found them would be greater than any other mortal. But they would not affect us gods in any way, I do not think. The mortal that found and used the weapon would have to be powerful indeed even to use it. I doubt there are many that strong.

Crysalis

In the city of Vedi'tum, crowds were making an uproar. The upper ring was filled with fleeing citizens, running from a lone figure that shown with god-like radiance.
The mortal guards had tried to put up a fight but in a show of godly power, Crysalis had killed twenty of them with a single stroke of her blade. Some few bowed to her in fear but most ran away. Crysalis cared not. To those that bowed to her she said, “Take me to your leader masked ones.”

Acanthus
Acanthus entered Torsc’s throne room. Riomu was almost completely healed. He had felt his barrier fall and rebuilt itself over the past 20 years. There was nothing he could have done, but the barrier had repaired itself, just as he had designed it to do. He turned to Torsc.

“It is nearly time, my friend. Have you finished the molds?” He looked at the work Torsc had done. “This is perfect Torsc! Thank you for your help. Now, when we get to the ceremony, I shall perform my magic and then we will return to normal time. I am afraid I will have to leave after that, my time with you was grand but my departure is long over-due. I wanted to say goodbye personally before my departure tomorrow, and I wanted to ask you a boon.” He turned to show Torsc six mortals, one of each of Torsc’s races. The six bowed to the gods. They were all very strong-looking but also had an air of wisdom and knowledge about them. “As to our agreement, I will be taking these mortals that I raised myself with me when I go, along with 16 of our creations. You may keep the others and do with them what you will. Is that alright?”

The Middle Realm

All across the Middle Realm, the chaos beasts were falling to their doom. In the far west, there were none to be seen. In the North, they had nearly been conquered by two great armies and even now the last of the chaos beasts fell to the mortals. In the East the chaos beasts found themselves having to fight the terrain itself and they were not succeeding. Even the few that had managed to get farther west were having trouble keeping their numbers up as they fought armies of mortals and found godly resistance.

It was only in the south that they remained, few though there were. There they stagnated, unable to find creatures to change and unable to continue their disordered existence in a completely ordered world. Over time they became more and more like normal creatures, highly mutated, but ordered in life functionality. Only those who had solidified into a creature able to function in desert terrain were able to survive for any amount of time. All others starved out and died.

Mathias

Mathias nodded at Adarani. "It's quite alright, the important thing is we have tried to help our kin." Mathias spoke. He noticed the world doesn't feel as chaotic as it was. Mathias noticed that none of the beasts were able to navigate the mountains to enter the valley at all. That was good and it gave Mathias some hope that this will also help deter future invasions. He was also thankful that The Valeish didn't have to experience the horrors of the Chaos Beasts. For now it would seem the Gods did their best in the defense of the Middle Realm. What disturbed Mathias is that they had to defend against them in the first place.

This outburst just showed him that, perhaps Acanthus' spell is wearing off. Further precautions must be made against future attacks. Soon he heard Justice's voice. "The time is nigh, go to Paradise." Justice spoke. As soon as he came he left. He sounded serious, and Mathias should answer his call. He then looked at the others. "I'm glad you all came and I believe we have a handle on this dire situation." Mathias spoke. "I hope you will be well Mérida, pains me to see my kin in such pain." Mathias spoke with care.

Othuma

Othuma only stared off into the horizon. He saw the two armies won the battle as the Werebear cheered over their victory. They began chanting Othuma's name for their victory. Despite this warm praise, Othuma felt disgruntled. This experience left a bad taste in his mouth, why he doesn't know. Sithis spoke up and speaking privately will do him good. "I just don't know Sithis, it just felt weird when I killed my own creation." "Still, we should be happy that we won...," Othuma paused, "I still need to show Kazus the Dragons, once that is finished we will speak." Othuma decided as he spoke towards Kazus. "Well if your still interested I'll show you those dragons now." He spoke, wondering if Kazus is still up for it.

In the North:
Kazus surveyed the scene once the battle had finished. He had been over-confident in the kazelites's ability to defend the area, not expecting the beasts to be able to corrupted the stones. A few of them had so frantically retreated, constantly picking up new rocks with to fight that the force of wind that held them together lost its energy and ceased to be.
The death god turned towards Kazus and offered to now lead him towards the dragons. Now more than ever, Kazus wanted to meet new and powerful races with which he could ally himself. If more monsters like the ones his creations had just battled existed, he could use all the help he could get. "Yes, if you're still headed there." the wind replied. Hearing the conversation, Uncle prepared to move. "You will not be coming with me anymore" the wind said, swirling around Uncle's ear. "Take the remaining kazelites and march south. Find Mother and stay with her until I come find you." Uncle nodded, relieved that he would be able to re-assume his old task.

In Paradise:
Mother woke with a start, her hand shooting up to her pillow, which happened to be Ahuv's thigh at the moment. Grabbing onto it, she squeezed it tensely for a moment before relaxing. When she looked up into Ahuv's beautiful eyes, she knew that it was very apparent to him that she'd just had a nightmare. "I dreamt that my creator and brother came back and...", she began choking on her words, her eyes becoming moist. "And they took me and left. We never could see each other again." She sat up shakily and brought her knees up to meet her bare breasts and hugged them. "Tell me that that won't happen, Ahuv", she whispered.

In Paradise:

"Wherever you go, I go." Mother looked at Ahuv and could tell he meant every word of what he said. When he leaned in to kiss her, she closed her eyes and threw her arms around his neck. The soft feel of his lips caressing hers sent an ecstatic feeling rippling through her body. She'd never imagined that she could feel so intimately connected with someone after so short a time. But here they were. Keeping her lips upon Ahuv's, she slid over the bench onto his lap, wanting simply to be as near to him as possible. She wanted this kiss to never end.

In the North:

Kazus took the death god's warning seriously, but hoped that he would at least find an opportunity to introduce himself. Othuma led him to the cavern and then turned. The wind blew beside him and whispered "I will be with you, but silent. I will not disturb them, I swear it."

Laska

The young girl listened quietly as she held Merida's hand. She felt herself fully at peace at the moment, even though the others around her weren't. She felt strangely odd, as if she wasn't quite there and as if she was watching everything from outside of her body. She stayed like this for some time until Mathias looked up at the stars. She snapped back to herself and looked at the elder god.

"Umm, Sir Mathias?" She asked quietly, "What are we going to do now?"

Sithis

The snake agreed to speak with Othuma later and remained with the gods as they went to see the dragons. It wasn't as glorious as Sithis had expected, though their rebirth could hardly have been described as dull. The creatures seemed to be at peace, but Sithis could imagine them flying through the air and giving even gods a challenging fight. Soon, the real work would have to begin. Soon, the War of the Gods would have to start.

Acanthus

"The moon Torsc?" Acanthus said, gazing through the electrified Arch with an expression of deep amusement. "Is this what you've been working on all this time?" Acanthus didn't wait for a response but sent a small flicker of magic towards the doorway. It changed green and then reverted to its normal color. "Aha, my dear brother. If this is what I think it is, you are to be given much credit." He looked at Torsc with admiration.

"What a magnificent portal. I assume it leads to somewhere beyond even my wildest expectations."

Mathias

Mathias looked around the valley, as the Valeish continued on with their lives. He then took a deep breath and made sigh. He looked over to Laska who spoke to him. He wondered what's next himself, but he knows that whatever it is, Justice has a say in it. He looked over to the other gods and spoke, "I suppose we assess the damage." "See what's left and who needs help." "At this moment though however I must leave on other important business." "I believe it will help the situation here in the Middle Realm." Mathias turned his back to them and looked up into the sky.

"Besides the death of Kalimdor leaves many questions...ones I have not the answer too." "Yet this business with the Chaos Beasts has placed me on alert." "I need to prepare, in case such an event occurs again." "For I know that Acanthus's barrier is failing." He spoke rather grimly. "Please take care of yourselves, I shall return." He spoke as a golden aura enveloped him and he then disappeared. He reappeared inside the Halls of Justice.

"To the top of the highest tower, Mathias." Justice instructed. He did as told.

"What is our next move, Ancient Spirit?" Mathias asked.

"We are going to create our Heavenly Guardians." He spoke. "Beings of my design, but I need your expertize in crafting them."

"Are you sure?" "From what your describing...it will be quite the undertaking." He spoke concerned.

"I have confidence in your abilities Mathias, you must do this...for us all." Justice encouraged.

Mathias nodded as he began to release a large amount of godly energy. He soon made a being that looked very much like himself. Nearly identical just of a smaller frame and his face, more smooth and not as rugged as his own. His hair is long and brown like his own, the only true difference is the addition of six wings. He was soon outfitted in golden armor and given a sword and shield. Mathias then breathed life into the being and soon his eyes opened. The first of many Angels was born.

Othuma

Othuma nodded at Kazus as he spoke. "I don't expect we will be here long." "I am certain the Dragons will allow company in due time." He assured the Wind God. Othuma stood there as he allowed Kazus to fulfill his desires. That was until something stranger visited upon them. A creature that didn't seem to speak in complete sentences. It's behavior confused him and it's words even more. Othuma had no words to say beyond, "Excuse me?" Obviously asking for clarification. He had only hope that this being will not disturb the Dragons
