PERSONALITY
Steven is a quiet, introspective fella, though not because of some hard-ass routine he tries to play or because he's taken some vow of silence: Steven hates the sound of his own voice. As a child, he was teased about its squeaky, irregular tone, and he became very self-conscious about it from then on. This was his form of battling a stutter that continues to plague him to this day; it began as a prolongation stammer, where one holds onto a single sound as they speak, but the harder Steven fought it, the quicker it evolved into a block stammer, where all vocal movement ceased and he stood looking like a dumb person. It was a good experience, however; those who bullied him enraged him to fight in the schoolyard, and though he didn't win at first, he found he had the ability. He is a good fighter; he doesn't give up easily, unless it comes to speaking. He says only what is extremely necessary to be input into conversations, but when he attempts to carry himself confidently, he worries that he fails in others' eyes, and self-fulfills his own prophecy. However, as stated before, he does not give up easily, and is a hard worker, especially when it comes to his budding career in the US Army; whenever one of his uniforms are on his back, he speaks clear, loud, and without hesitation or block of breath, as is expected of a soldier viewed as carrying himself professionally. Indeed, he takes his work very seriously; he aspires to do what his country asks of him, regardless of his feelings, even if they are of jubilation or confidence while contemplating further promotion or transfer to more distinguished departments.

HISTORY

Henry grew up in an affluent neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota. From a young age, he carried a stutter, which prompted a wave of bullying and negative attention from his peers. His parents, now considered to be in the 1% by the Occupy Wall Street protesters, moved him from school to school in search of a place that would accept Henry for who he was, hoping to find a solution that didn't involve the words "it's good for the boy" or "it'll toughen him up". Soon, he began fighting back and began making a name for himself; despite the trouble he was getting into at these private schools, his grades increased dramatically, and his self-confidence became very apparent as he explored sports and various hobbies involving the use of his hands, such as carpentry and metalworking. Henry's father believed that men who used his hands and back belonged to an inferior economic class, and that to stay ahead, Henry had to do better than his parents, who were raking in $100,000+ a year. Whether as a statement of rebellion, or perhaps because Henry was more in tune with his back-breaking immigrant ancestors, he always thought and spoke very highly of his Shop teacher, Mr. Birchum, a 3-tour Vietnam veteran who had lost his right leg to a French landmine, who seemed to connect with the boy where not many other teachers or adult figures could.

Birchum became a role model, and inspired Henry to go his own way after high school was over; to his parents' chagrin, this led to Henry enlisting in the US Army after graduation, and as the years passed, he only felt more righteous and confident as they pinned colors and medals on his chest. Two tours of duty in Afghanistan and one in Iraq led to promotion and continued respect within his unit before he was shipped off for Airborne training in Fort Benning, Georgia. He was pulled out just two weeks before graduation, having been selected for special assignment to a CIA cell working on a domestic, underground network of organized crime. What has been uncovered, however, is something pulled right out of fiction and sending him into the frying pan; as a new field agent investigating strange cults that may be tied to homeland terrorist organizations, all he has left to do is follow his orders and continue pursuing a distinguished career in the military.

OOC

Have you seen the Underworld movies?:
On and off since the first one came out; I saw the first one in my aunt's basement, which had HBO, and at the time, that was a huge treat for a kid like me; the story was different from those I was usually caught watching those days, and I loved the action scenes (full-auto converted Berettas fo' daaaaaaays!). I saw the second one and enjoyed it, but was honestly disappointed in the third, which was made more as part of milking the cash cow. The last one was sorta neat, but I just feel like the story died with the second one (either that, or the writers should have gotten MUCH more creative backbone).

How often do you get online?:
Erry day I'm surfin'.
