"I am not perfect. I have my demons. But I face them everyday, and everyday I resist I get closer to my redemption."
Erik is a man trying to forget his past. He had been addicted to heroin for most of his adult life, and just recently was able to overcome his addiction. In spite of this, Erik is a very upbeat person. Almost always seen with a smile on his face, Erik is able to brighten up any room he is in. But on occasion, his past catches up with him, and the sadness it brings is visible. He will sometimes slip into a short depression-like state. The difference between him normally and when he is depressed is shocking. He is a hard worker and really cares about his friends, as they are the only ones who see him for who he is, not the junkie he was.
Erik's life revolves around music. He is always listening to it, and he surrounds himself with it. He has to listen to music to fall asleep. He always carries a pair of headphones and his ipod everywhere he goes. He works full time at a record store. And most importantly, he is in a band playing drums. To Erik, music is more than a hobby. it is his way of life.
Erik had a very good childhood. His parents were together, they had steady jobs, and they had a confortable life. When he was twelve, he began to play drums. Soon, it was apparent to his family that he had a gift. His future was bright, and his potental seemed limitless. He was in a good relationship and the band he was in was going places. But when he turned twenty, his life took a turn for the worse. he got hooked on heroin, and his life began to fall apart. His girl left him, he got kicked out of the band, and his family disowned him. He began to live on the streets, bumming money for drugs. He lived like this for almost eleven years, until he decided that enough was enough. He saved up money, went to rehab, got clean, and got a job at a local record store. He picked up his drumsticks again, and began to play the drums on the streetcorners. One day Anna Blackthorn heard him playing and the rest was, as they say, history.
