The replacement
Velani has a rather tempestuous nature, prone to displays of strong emotion and flights of fancy or impulsiveness. One moment he may be the life of the party, while the next he's sitting alone in a self-depricating stupor. One can never tell what he's thinking.
Darkseeker- A heavy, 60 pound white ashwood recurve bow. He is forbidden to use the customary crossbows of the hunters due to his lineage being called into review, but makes due.
Quiver- A black leather quiver strapped to the hip of Dynn's breeches that has strips of dividing wood breaking it into four sections. Contains fifty extremely light wooden arrows, each tipped with an arrow-head shaped vial filled with a specific substance, 25 filled with holy water, 15 with oil, 5 with vitriol and 5 seemingly mundane wooden arrows deprived of fletching and tip that have been hollowed out and filled with mercury...more commonly known as quicksilver. Each has a colored string of varying roughness at the end to differentiate them without looking. Due to the brittle shattering nature of the projectile, the blessed water, silver or acid can be injected into vital areas or dispersed in a wide spray when the arrow itself fragments on impact. Every arrow is custom made to support Dynn's specific draw weight.
A cold-wrought iron main guache
Seven silver daggers hidden about his person
Dynn Velani was born into a not quite poor yet not quite wealthy household, but well off financially most of the time. Leading a normal life for the most part, it wasn't until the age of ten that his life went for a tragic, if common fate for those living in the isolated parishes. The township was all but decimated in a single night by a pair of bloodlings and their ghouls. Dynn and the rest of the children and virgins were brought to the center of town to be drained by the bloodlings. By drained, they did not use their own fangs, but a knife and chalice to drink from. Under no circumstances did the dark women want any more competition for food. So each was butchered in some dastardly way or another until Dynn's turn came. He made a show of defiance by spitting into the eye of one of the bloodlings. That act earned him a supernaturally hard slap the broke his jaw and a jagged, rough drag of the knife across his throat. At that very moment the vampire hunting team arrived to drive the two dark ones off. Dynn was only just barely saved.
That day, his life took an unexpected turn. For the next fifteen years of his life Velani was subjected to rigorous training and study. It was either that, or become just another orphan. The only reason his training was granted was because a couple members of the order supposed that a strong youth would be of more use fighting for the light rather than wasting away in some gutter. The boy leanred quickly though, and showed a ruthlessness and cruel intelligence for battle that few hunters--and many vampires--used to gain an extraordinary edge in combat with. On his twenty-fith year of life, Dynn was assigned his equipment and a squad. He was irked to see that the order held his bloodline in suspect, and therefore reawarded his effort with a bow instead of a crossbow. The marksman training made sense then though.
It was on that day, that Dynn Velani replaced the fallen Pointer on Julius Montagna's team. He has no doubt that his end will be far less untimely than that of his predecessor.
