Leli Anibura

"Let's see what I can be, shall we?"

0 · 900 views · located in Elkhunt Ridge

a character in “The Vampire King Comes to Town”, as played by AngelBell

Description

Name: Leliana Anibura, Leli for short

Age: 17

Gender: Female

Race: Half-Human, Half Shifter

Appearance: Image Her usual apperance consists of short-cropped auburn hair and red-honey eyes. She is fairly pale, and not too tall, standing at only 5 foot even. She is very slight, but toned, and looks like an average, pretty, athletic highschool girl. Once she removes her clothes, however, one may notice her body is covered in many tiny scars. She has a tiny tattoo of a lotus blossom on the inside of her right ankle, a secret kept from her father.

Personality: Feisty, yet sweet, Leli is a very loyal girl. If she takes a liking to someone, that person is like family to her. She has a quick and hot temper, and fights very easily, though she'd rather not come to blows over anything. Even though she acts very tough and boy-like, she has a girly side that she tries hard to keep hidden, and finds herself easily swaye by feminine things, like flowers, small animals, pretty clothes and jewelry. When she fights, she is cocky, but she knows she isn't all together very strong, so she spends most of her time distracting, angering, and dodging her opponent. She wasn't taught much about fighting, so she's still very much a rookie.

Abilities: Able to change her entire appearance, down to the voice, and is also able to shift into an animal if she wishes.

Weapons & Armor: She wears only a necklace that emits a strange aura, a gift from her mother.

History: Leli was raised completely aware of her abilities by her human father. Once she turned 13, her mother appeared to her and trained with her, helping her hone her abilities until her transformations were seamless. She has always been curious about other abilitied people, sometimes trying to force her way into other supernatural social circles. For the past 2 years, she has begun to shun her father, saying he doesn't understand her predicament, and has wanted to move out for a while. She spends a lot of her time in town or jogging in the surrounding areas, trying to escape him.

Leli was smiling, which was always nice, a coveted fact by the boys at school. She had a pretty face, but a sour disposition, and rarely ever lit her face with a grin amongst them. Though she only smiled as she stared at the lake, head cocked to the side as she watched the lapping waves. Many things were happening, everywhere, all around her, she could feel power prickling her skin, goose-bumping her arms and sending shudders down her back. But it was of no concern to her, she was happy at the lake.

Suddenly giggly, she tugged off her uniform shoes and knee-high socks, threw them to the ground beside her schoolbag, and dashed into the water, squealing loudly as it lapped against her legs. It was cold, FREEZING cold, and the ground was slimy with algae, but it was fun anyhow. She felt safe enough to have this much fun, in what she called "Coven Mio", for no apparent reason. It was just a small bit of the lake pushed up against the rocks, with trees and the road not too far away for her to flee if spotted.

Many loud noises threatened her, and her instincts screamed for her to run away, but she stayed put, shaking her head stubbornly. Whatever issue they had, they didn't have it with her, and she had no reason to run like a scared child. In fact, she might even put up a fight if anyone attacked her. But a re-assessment of the powers prickling in the air gave her pause. Scratch that, she would put up a fight to CERTAIN attackers, and others, she would simply flee.

She felt foolish, knee-deep in lake water, the hem of her uniform absorbing some of the licking spray, hair wildly whipped about her face from her sprint to get here. She was supposed to be an adult, yet here she was, giggling like...well, like a school girl. Which made it all the more foolish.

Rain-and-lake-water drenched, Leli splashed barefoot through the streets, laughing. She had thrown her shoes and socks into her bag and sped off for home, coating her feet in dirt and mud. Some of the other stragglers on the street seemed to look at her strangely, but she could care less; she was having fun, and that was what mattered to her.

Something in her head began to scream that someone dangerous was near, and she skittered to a stop, panting heavily. There was a man, a large, barrel-looking man standing on the sidewalk, and something about him screamed power. He was side-tracked for the moment, but she had a feeling that he was still extremely aware of everything around him. Leli couldn't move, she stood stock-still across the street, staring at him. She had never seen him in Elkhunt before. Why was he here? What did he want? What exactly WAS he? The tiny shifter trembled, but she wasn't sure if she should be scared...or excited?

Kul continued his walk, his left hand resting on Krells arm as support as his right held a cane. He did not really need the cane or the support, but it made moving easier. Of course, he felt the lifelessness of the man staring at him from across the street. One did not get to become the Master of Necromancy without being able to feel such things. Lacking life... and he seemed intelligent enough, at least not as slow as a zombie or skeleton, which limited the options of what he could be. Vampire? Ghost? Wraith? He doubted he was another lich as liches were not common as very, very few necromancers ever reached this pinnacle of undeath. Oh well, he doubted it was any of his concern who or what the creature was. He had things he wanted to do before going back to sitting down and resting his weary bones.

Kul and Krell contiuned their walk, but once again another odd person showed up, this one a young girl who was splashing through the rain then just... stopped staring at the man from before. Perhaps the girl was just shocked at being seen? Did her instincts tell her something? What weird people... Well, it really wasn't his concern as this much rain could damage the flowers Krell was carrying for him that the young elven girl had given him. "Come Krell... let us at least cross the street, hopefully the young woman will realize she looks rather foolish at the moment."

Br'nard Even'star stepped from the eves of the forest and strode out into the edge of town, following the dusty track towards the small settlements centre.

All seemed quiet as dusk began to fall, the Einherjar's boots scraped over the cobbles as he walked slowly through the rapidly deserting streets... there was a certain fear in the air here.

The Barbarian frowned, something about this settlement did not feel right... A sure sign that his Quarry could well be nearby...

Br'nard paused as his keen eyes spied movement, a small, dripped we slip of a girl was standing in the centre on the street, apparently mesmerised by something she was seeing...

The Einherjar's brows bunched like thunder heads as he spotted it, the tall dark figure swooping down towards the girl, cape billowing, eyes ablaze and fangs exposed...
Only one creature moved like that...

"Hold bloodsucker!"

Even'stars voice rang out across the street as above, the thunder grumbled in response.

The Einherjar took strode forward and positioned himself between the girl and the predator.

"Try me instead."

He growled, his eyes blazing like twin chips of burning ice as they fixed themselves upon the soulless, scarlet sockets of the creature...

Well, this was different. Kul watched in silence as the man from before fought a rather large brutish looking man... much like his Krell only with flesh. The other girl from before simply stared like before, would she flee? Would she interfere? This was not a fight someone should get involved with as a normal man would die in seconds cleaved in two by either of these men. It was none of his concern, but moving would attract attention, and he had no real desire to be dragged into their combat, so there he stood.

He sensed a flair of magic that came from a different direction, and so he turned his head spotting the same elf girl from before. He lifted the cane and used it to wave at her, not sure if she could see him or not, but he felt it was best, also if she was closer, he could be sure to protect her if things got rough. It would be a fair trade, ensuring she did not get hurt in return for the flowers.

Alone again. Ikiluk inclined her head just a bit and turned, walking a ways behind the barbarian. Though neither of the forces she felt were particularly comforting, the one from last night left her feeling strangely vulnerable. She hadn't felt like that in over a century; the nix still had yet to decide if this was bad or not.

She came across the scene of two figures and the barbarian -- whose name still remained a mystery to her -- and she backed off, settling in a place to watch the fight. She had heard legends of those who would fight non-human creatures for "higher beings", but never had she seen an actual fight. This was a once in a hundred life-time chance, and she was going to take it.

Again, her eyes drifted to the figures, particularly the girl. She felt her heart drop. Would she get hurt in the crossfire? Was it worth it to help her? Perhaps not. Ikiluk straightened her posture from her watching place and tensed in preparation to run. To fetch her or not to fetch her was a difficult question.

Mentally hitting herself, Ikiluk edged around the fighting duo and went to Leli, giving her no time to ask questions. She tugged her away from the fight. There was no telling how bad it would become with divine and darkness fighting. The clash was older than any of the creatures in the town, and it wasn't her place to leave someone in the middle.

"Wonderful show." Kul said, and with a slight nod, Krell clapped for him, "But I fear we should all be going before those..." He stopped trying to think of what they were called, "Yes, police show up." Almost as if on command, sirens could be heard coming closer. Really, fighting in the middle of a town and not expecting the local 'authorities' to show up? Young ones were always so brash and thick-headed, but he was once like them to. Of course there was a few people of note, the man from before was obviously a vampire, a rather old one given by his power. The large man was obviously one of those northern men he had read about, Norse? yes, perhaps that was what they were called, and he did have some power although it seemed to revolve around his brute strength, of which he had in abundance.

"You..." He said trying to remember the name he gave earlier, "Br'nard, might want to see about that wound. Wouldn't want to have your intestines falling out everywhere." Kul was fairly sure the man was tough, but no one was truly invincible. Not even himself. "You mister... cold blooded one." Kul said pointing his cane at the one who had used the magic barrier, "Impressive magic." and it was, although it was showy, and he used more power then he needed to meant that either he was an incredibly foolish wizard who used his power as a club, or he was an experienced wizard who used his power like a club. Personally, Kul believed magic should be refined and elegant.

The strangely dressed youth was already busy talking to the damsel in distress, perhaps he was feeling the normal boyish urge? Well, if he wanted it, and she was willing then it was none of his business. "Nerry." He called out to the elf girl, "Would you mind escorting us to the book store before something else... different happens?" Well, it was also to get her away from this odd group who would only cause trouble. She was young and should not get herself wrapped up into this kind of business.

With a shake of her head, Leli clears her mind and sighs. Oh yeah! she suddenly remembered the man who had jumped in in the first place, it'd be rude to not say thanks. With a slight wiggle, she escapes over towards him, smiling and wiggling her bare, muddy toes.

"Hey, Mr Viking Man! I just wanted to say thank you for jumping in when you did, I woulda totally been a goner if he had gotten a hand on me!" she laughs and rubs the back of her neck, "I mean, I'm so small, so I'd be a friggin' appetizer, y'know?"

She suddenly plops down on the ground and starts to wiggle her socks back on, grumbling gently. "If Dad sees me without my socks or shows on, he'll lose his mind...'You'll catch a cold, Leli,' blah, blah, blah, blah..."

"Aye, no problem lass,"

The Warrior told the small girl now sat near his feet, busily tugging on her socks.

Behind her, the Elf and Lizard continued their squabble, Br'nard ignored them.

With a nod to the gathered group, The Barbarian sheathed his weapons,

"Now if ye'll excuse me, I 'ave someone I need tae find."

Turning on his heel, The Einherjar strode off down the street, away from the approaching sirens and off towards the Town Centre as night began to fall and far overhead, stars began to wink into life against the darkening sky...

"You know, buddy, you are really getting on my NERVES," Leli stood after slipping her shoes back on, and flashed her eyes towards the annoying snake-y lizard-y dude. Who did he think he was, talking to them all like that? The prince of the friggin' world? She wouldn't raise a hand to him, but she wasn't going to let him slip.

"I don't know what race you are, who your gods are, who you are, nor do I care. But it seems to me that the savage one is the one running his mouth and preaching to others, cuz he's crammin' his words into other people's ears, even though they obviously couldn't care less. Now. I suggest you clap your trap, turn tail, and simmer at home until the cops calm down. Alright? Alright."

With a snort, she took off towards the woods again, brow furrowed in concentration. She just wanted one more glimpse of that scary man, one more taste of that immense power, and she'd run home again with her tail between her legs...literally, if that's what it took. Stupid plan, yeah, but she felt compelled, as though something was singing to her, pulling her in.

She hid herself amongst a clump of trees nearer to the road, and carefully folded her clothes into her bag, shivering naked among the leaves and grasses. Leli hated the before of a shift, it was cold, and embarrassing. But as soon as the scorching heat poured through her veins, she forgot it all, grinning psycotically as her bones ground and snapped into new places, pain mixing with pleasure, jolting through her oddly stretched muscles.

Moments later, though it felt like hours, she was crouched low to the ground as a simple red fox, tail bushy and eyes bright as she adjusted to the new low view of the forest. Sighing contentedly, she grabbed her bag in her fangs and began to drag it along with her, heading deep into the forest, following a faint scent that drew her like flies to honey.

Stupid? Yes. But curiosity never killed the fox, now did it? she thought gently, chuckled, and continued on, ignoring the sirens that seemed to chase her into the tree.

Nerwen
"Savages don't know how to speak proper!" She shouted. "Like you!" She made a move to slap him. "My physical form has only known 174 years, but my astral form has linked with nature and nature sees all!" She screamed at him. "Your powers died with your people!" She stepped back, she knew she should stop but just couldn't and was sure the man was provoked. Then she heard the girl shouting at the man too, hopefully he would listen if more than one person was shouting at him.

Morwen
Morwen could hear her sister's shouts and jogged to where they came from. She recognised the samurai and man but there were others now, a large Viking, who was leaving, a little girl, she had the aura of a shifter, a Nix, by the look of her aura, a very elderly man and a taller man. Nerwen was standing shouting at the man from the forest, his aura unrecognisable. "Nerry what have you done now?" She sighed as she looked at the strange man.

(Leli is being stupid and following Vlad, sorry for the confusion!)

Leli was curling her tail around her tiny body, tiny fox face furrowed in confusion. She was sure she had seen him come this way, but...where was he? His scent had dissipated through the leaves, leaving her turning circles under a large tree. Not that she was lost, no, of course not! Animal instincts knew where she was and how to get back, just not how to find the mysterious disappearing man.

With an animalistic growl, she flopped down on the forest floor, propping her head up on her bag, and settling her fluffy tail over her nose. She would just take a quick rest, then continue on searching.

The booming voice shocked Leli out of her semi-nap, and she jumped up onto little foxy feet, fur bristled. Coughing, and rolling her tongue around a bit, she called out with a human tongue, happy that she had taught herself the ability to speak while transformed.

"Hang on just a sec!" she mewled, "Let me find you, hang on!" Following the sounds of his voice, she bounded up to him and settled a few feet from him, smiling in a strange, animalistic way. Remembering her manners, she bowed her head and kept her eyes low, before speaking again.

"Hello there. I wasn't trying to be sneaky, I knew you'd be able to sense me here," she flicked her tail gently, and sighed, "I'd change back, but...my clothes are over there."

"Well...thanks for not eating me! It's one of those things I've been trying to avoid, y'know? Don't do drugs, don't talk to strangers, don't get eaten." She smiled, then padded back onto her little feet, "Wait just a minute, let me get dressed." Leli dodged back amongst the trees, and quickly shifted back, pulling her uniform dress on haphazardly.

"And the not shifting back was more for my sake, not yours. I try not to make a habit of hanging around naked in front people. It's one of my quirks." After pinning some loose strands of her hair out of her face, she jumped out onto the path again, smiled, and bowed her head to the man. "My name's Leli, and as you've guessed by now, I'm a shape-shifter...well, half shifter."

"You're probably gonna regret letting me speak. Once I get going, I hardly ever stop, it's a huge problem. I'm too spunky, I don't have half as many years as the rest of the people in town. I age like a normal human, which sucks, but hey, maybe when I'm old enough, I can revert my age!"

Leli blinked, and furrowed her brow in confusion. He didn't want to be young? He was able to appear any way, like she was, and yet he chose to stay looking war-worn? It made no sense to her, but she was young, so of course it was scary.

"So you...don't have a family?" her eyes glimmered. To her, having noone seemed like freedom. Noone to scold her or tell her what she had to do, and when to do it. Her father didn't understand what being different meant, all he cared about was making her seem normal, keeping her "safe" at home, making sure she listened and obeyed orders. He was such an obnoxious person, having no family sounded great. But then again...

"That sounds...really lonely." She stared, holding back her instinct to walk towards him. He would still slaughter her at any given moment, that was what he did...wasn't it?

"I don't believe that you're a bad person," Leli said simply. "You've had bad things happen to you, and to get even, you did bad things to other people. But you aren't a bad guy. You could've killed me the moment you laid eyes on me, but lookit! I'm still here. I'm still breathing." She closed her eyes, the images of dead and tortured people burned into her memory, and she shuddered slightly.

"I think that someone can only be judged by the last memory they made to someone. You showed me that you have feelings, so I judge you as a fairly decent person. No, I don't think killing is ok, and no, I won't allow thoughtless murder, and while that's part of my memory of you, it isn't the whole thing. I don't know a lot about life, about people, about betrayal or anything like that. I'm not immortal. I haven't lost any of the people I've ever cared about. I haven't even really loved anybody, besides my father." She smiled a bit, thinking of him; he had to be worried, knowing that she had been in some way involved in the fray earlier. A scolding would come that night, to be sure, groundings and threats, but mostly yelling and fighting. Leli tucked her hair back, suddenly annoyed with the short crop, and looked up at him again.

"Whatever you've done before this means next to nothing to me. I didn't see any of it, so it doesn't affect me. How about this for an idea? I'll be part of your family. And see, you aren't alone anymore, now that you have family. But, there are conditions. One," she placed a hand on her hip and held up one finger, "I am not your servant. I won't run errands for you, not without very good reason. Two," she pricked up another finger, "I do not kill for you. I'm not some vigilante. And three, I am strictly neutral. If someone attacks you, I'm neither on their side, nor yours. I'm on my side."

Leli smiled ruefully, "Ah, world domination, and all that jazz? Well, fine, I wish you luck with that. If things don't go over well tonight, there's a guest house on my property that you can stay at if you don't have time to get home." She bent down and grabbed her bag, then stood up tall again, still grinning. "Thanks for not killing me, it was nice to talk to you, even for just a little while. Well, I'll be going now, Dad's real ticked, I can tell. I'll be going then."

She turned on her heel and started out of the forest, humming under her breath. "Oh, yeah," she glanced over her shoulder and stuck her tongue out, "call yourself whatever you want, but I don't think you're a monster. Bye-nee!" She waved once, then continued on her way, winding her way through the streets of her town, only the sound of her steps echoing in her ears.

The lights were still on when she got home, everything familiar besides. She swept inside and up to her room, ignoring her father's out-raged cries, locked her bedroom door, and settled into her bay window, staring out at the sky. Something told her she wasn't done here, not yet.

Leli had a very bad feeling that something was going to happen, something terrible. Screams echoed through her head, inky blackness was quickly covering everything she could see, and it made her nervous. You're really gonna do this, aren't you? she thought, and sighed, rolling her stiff neck muscles. Like it or not, she had to defend what she could, though it wasn't much. And she did like her town. Sometimes.

She changed out of her uniform and slipped on a leotard under a pair of shorts, smiling gently. It had been a gift from her mother, something that would mold as she shifted, keeping her covered whenever she reverted to human form. Touching her necklace, she glanced out at the stars, and closed her eyes. "Thank you, Mom," she whispered, then tiptoed barefoot down the stairs, trying as hard as she could to be quiet. If she was seen by her father, this would be a lot more difficult.

Edging out the front door, she clicked it closed and sighed, leaving a hand pressed against it. She could go inside, hide with her dad, Vlad had said that she would live if she ran, she would live...did that mean he would spare her? No, once she left this house, she had a feeling she wouldn't return tonight, at least not in one piece. Slipping her necklace up and over her head, she looped it around and around the doorknob, hopeful that it would offer even a small amount of protection. Vlad couldn't enter without an invitation, and the amulet would keep her father inside, whether he liked it or not.

Jingling the lifted keys, she stepped into the family vehicle; a black and white Ford Crown Victoria, fitted as a police cruiser. The irony did not escape her; one of the biggest trouble makers in town had a cop for a father. Chuckling to herself, she veered the engire, flipped on the siren, and jammed into town, eyes solemn. It was beginning, and she WOULD be a part of it.

Leli hopped out of the car, smiling bitterly. It was time for her to get somethings done. She went sprinting through the town, heart pounding, when she saw a small boy standing, staring at his finger in shock.

"Hey, kid!" she yelled, and ran for him, eyes darting around, "Kid, you should get home! Here, I'll take you ho--" she froze suddenly, seeing blood streak his face. "Oh my...holy crap, kid. You aren't normal, are you?" She knelt beside him and smiled softly, looking deep in his eyes, "So tell me, kid, what are you?"

Aaric looked at the girl blankly. He was shaking, and he didn't know what to do. There was something very, very horrible happening nearby, and he was supposed to help, but didn't know what to do or where to go. For an angel, crying blood is an extremely unpleasant and unsettling experience. The boy took a deep breath. I have to pull it together. If I don't calm down, and think for a second, I won't be useful to anyone. I have to figure out what's going on.

For the first time, his clear blue eyes came into focus. Aaric stared back at the unfamiliar girl, meeting the red-honey gaze. After a few seconds, he broke into a shaky smile. This girl... she's very pure-hearted and noble. I can't help but like her. "I- uhm, I...." Then the reply died on Aaric's lips.

The angel's eyes were widened in pure shock and horror, looking over the girl's shoulders. The small boy's body started shaking, and he stepped past the girl and began walking forward. For in front of him, there came a steady creep of blood spilled on the streets. "Dear God...." As if in a daze, the small boy walked forward, his school shoes soon drenched in red. He neared the corner, knowing that behind it there would be the cause of all this blood. But peering around the corner, Aaric saw only... more blood. How much is there!? Aaric furrowed his brow, and went back to the girl.

"I'm an angel, and I'm here to protect people." His eyes locked on hers. "I was born to slay evil spirits, and this" -he gestured to the oncoming redness- "is definitely the work of said evil spirits." Aaric faltered there, his gaze flickering away. "Look- this is the first time I've had to fight in the mortal world. Normally I do my job on the other planes, and in the human world the rules are different. Humans are different, and I don't really know what to do. I've never had to deal with moving around in another skin before, and-" He paused, sucking in a breath. "I'm ranting."

Aaric stretched his nine-year old hand, and touched the stranger's shoulder, looking the girl in the eye once more. "I really really need help right now."
