Type Detail
Ian can read and influence a person's thoughts. And it's no where near as clear cut as they make it seem on TV. If Ian is around a person, he has a general impression of what they're thinking and feeling at the moment. The more familiar he is with the person, the clearer that impression is. He can also have influence over what that person is thinking: the way he describes it, it's like adding one of his thoughts to someone else's head and making them think it was theirs all along. Really, it is a strong persuasion. He's tried a couple of times to outright make someone do something and both times it kind of worked, but he could feel the person fighting him and the backlash was terrible. Both of these powers become far stronger if he is touching the person so that he's much more effective at persuading and he can hear thoughts in clear sentences and pictures. (When he trains, I would like for him to develop the ability to make someone do what he wants, or puppet-master them, and the ability to communicate telepathically)
Character’s Thoughts
Being Hunted: Hunted? Who's being hunted. If you keep your head down and don't get stupid, then there's nothing to worry about.
Arthur Sayco: Respect is given when respect is due. He's a rich man in a poor man's world.
The Bleeders: Scary shit. I keep my head down
Humans: Eh, they have their merits.
Digging up the Past
Personality
Ian is a smooth guy living in a rough world. He is open, charming, and generous, at least on the outside. In reality... well... he's just not quite as open. He keeps his secrets well. Because of his ability to read people, Ian has always been able to do and say the exact right thing and get his way out of everyone. Ian doesn't get wound up easily and has a hard time believing that anything bad could ever really happen to him. He's confident, sometimes a little arrogant, but at heart he's a good guy. He's had an easy time all of his life and he's not usually very sensitive to those who've had harder or less fortunate lives than he had. Honestly, he's a bit spoiled. Still, he is a friendly guy with a great sense of humor who isn't afraid to give a nice stranger a hot meal or a place to crash for the night. Despite how open he seems to be, it's hard to really get to know him. He tends to brush off questions about himself and he has learned to never actually get close to anyone.
History
Ian has had a very uneventful life as an only child of well-off parents. That's not to say that his family was rich-- no one is anymore, really-- but they were comfortable, safe, and stable. Ian was very young when he began to realize he knew things about people that others didn't know. He was also very young when he realized that could never ever let anyone find out. His parents were vocal about their hatred and fear of actives, they even reported some of their neighbors to the Bleeders. One of his first memories is being a part of the crowd watching as the mother of a girl he played with in school was dragged out of her house and shot. So, Ian grew up hiding his abilities, honing and experimenting with them in secret. He moved out of the house when he was 18 and traveled a bit, but that just depressed him. Now, he's settled in New York City, trying to find a way to live his life.
