16

Height:
160cm
Weight:
56kg
Scent:
Honey and oranges
Clothes:
Normally hoodies and jackets and layered shirts, with jeans and slim trousers. Also boots and hats, which tends to be fedoras. Whatever he feels like wearing, actually. Sometimes there's some pink... What? He looks good wearing it. The one thing he keeps on at all times are the hairpins, though. Don't touch them, they're precious to him.
Physical appearance:
Jared has a short and slim body, with light blonde hair and vivid blue eyes that look like a clear sky at the height of summer. His hair is clipped up at the right with four red bobby pins, which makes him look cute, but the way he holds himself is without a doubt masculine and filled with energy. Jared doesn't smile much, but when he does his whole face lights up, and it's a pretty nice smile. Despite looking like one punch would knock him out, Jared has a very fit body and is actually stronger than he looks due to long time practice of a mixture of parkour and freerunning. His clothes and lean muscles hides the fact that he's fit.
Personality:
Cynical | Stubborn | Hot Tempered | Energetic | Compliant | Tough
Jared is an emotional and energetic guy who's very hardworking and intelligent, often fiddling with things and scoring a B+ Average in class, although he tends of overreact to things. He calms down pretty fast, though, and often behaves independently, often relying on himself. Jared is a mixture of cynicism and realism, in that he sees things as they are but is cautious to believe in better. Logical, compassionate and kind (although a bit bossy and easy to panic), Jared tends to stick with himself due to awkwardness and show a tough exterior, even if he's not really tough, and is ultimately just like a normal kid trying to get through life.
That said, though, Jared has a hair trigger temper due to being so emotional and stubbornness that can kill a mule, which has often gotten him into trouble. Jared is somewhat easy to piss off, and although he calms down pretty fast it's just waiting to flare up again. Jared is also pretty stubborn and sarcastic about things, and often gets carried away easily. Even though he's normally confident in himself, he's also prone to insecurity, but is quick to knock himself out of it. Oddly enough, Jared also serves as a voice of reason and is the first to notice when things get screwy, and is pretty loyal to the few friends he has made. He lightens up really quickly, and even though he's bad tempered he strives to keep it under control and do his best in life.
Habits:
Snapping his fingers when he's got an idea
Placing his hands inside his pockets when he's doing nothing
Carrying round a small pouch that's filled with odd things like a pencil case or a screwdriver
Quirks:
Blushes easily
Overreacting to odd things
Analyzing the area he's in to find routes at the back of his mind
Hobbies:
Free running and parkour (he likes doing flashy moves but appreciates the survival thing that parkours have in mind, so it's a mixture of both)
Trying to figure out how to Macgyver things.

Being alone - he doesn't like the idea of being abandoned, or alone with no one to care for.
Strength:
Determination - he works hard and never gives up.
Agility - he's fast and flexible thanks to training his body to pull off some of those stunts he does.
Inventive - good at coming up with objects out of weird things.
Good at finding escape routes - long time parkour runner, this was bound to happen.
Smart - he's quick to adapt, and is good at making things up on the fly.
Precision - good with his aim due to long time practice at nerf competitions.
Weaknesses:
Too focused - thanks to his determination and compassion, Jared can get a little too carried away at times.
Friends - he might complain, but he tends to comply whenever they ask something of him. He also won't be able to fight them properly in a real battle, although tag and videogames is another story.
Fighting - strong body and can pull off a mean right hook, but definitely has a lot to learn.
Bad temper - he gets pissed off easily and says things that he might not mean.
Protective - he's protective of his friends, and would therefore protect them even if it means he's going to be hurt.
Insecure - he's quick to snap himself out of it, but he tends to have moments of insecurity about his life. Am I good enough, can I really do this, etc.

Nil, he's human
History:
Jared came as a surprise to his mom, who was a teenager at the time. Her family encouraged her to abort the baby, but she didn't. She had the baby, but died during childbirth, which was how Jared came to live with his aunt and uncle and cousin. His aunt and uncle complained about how they had to take care of him and groused about Jared's existence, but his cousin Walter, who was only a few years older, was happy that he was there and played with him. Times with him were the only good highlights of Jared's time there, since although the aunt and uncle didn't mistreat him by withholding food or beatings they were sharper and more impatient with him, often scolding him and in general treating him like he wasn't wanted.
For the first ten years of his life, Jared often avoided going home until late, preferring to hang out with Walter. The two of them often raced each other and played catch or have nerf gun shooting competitions, and the two of them had a lot of fun, at least until it was time to go home. There were a lot of quarrels between Jared and his relatives, and although Walter tried to calm it down he wasn't able to succeed at all of them. During those times, Jared often fled the apartment and hid somewhere to cry, only coming back when it was dark enough to see the stars in the sky. He entered through the window, and often Walter was found sitting half asleep on his bed with a worried frown on his face. That was enough to quell any thoughts of running away, and Jared moved Walter to the side so that they could share the bed as if they were little kids again.
When the both of them were twelve, the family had to move to another city due to work. Walter and Jared didn't want to move, but there was no choice, since no one would take them in. Fortunately, their grandma (on one of the rare visits since she lived on the other side of the city) was there, and she offered to take the both of them in. The aunt and uncle refused Walter's pleas to stay since, well, he's their son, but they agreed that Jared could since the house they managed to get was too small for four people. Jared refused since he wanted to stay with Walter even if they treated him like crap, but the parents wouldn't hear of it and foisted Jared over to the grandma with a smile of thanks. The two kids cried and exchanged promises to stay in touch with each other and stuff (Walter wven left one of the nerf guns behind as a promise), and within a week Walter and his parents were gone, leaving Jared with his grandmother.
The two of them weren't close, but got along well. Granny was pretty cool, and she didn't mind if Jared went out the whole day so long as he told her where he was going and came back before ten. Jared, for his part, was wary, but went on to tell the stories of the day. They two often shared companionable silence, and Granny got Jared interested in machines by teaching him how to fix things, which then escalated to making things. Stories of the day became stories of how to fix a watch and how to make this go faster, and between this and the daily video calls to Walter that often lasted hours where they swapped news and stuff, Jared was happy with life.
Unfortunately, tragedy struck. Within two years, Granny died of old age, and Jared was left grieving and upset. The family came for the funeral, and after everyone had grieved the rest of the relatives discussed where Jared should go. Walter was the only one who tried to comfort him while the rest of them argued about why they couldn't take him in, until finally Jared had had enough and declared that he would live by himself, and screw them all! (Except Walter)
So, that was that. Granny had left the house to whoever would take it, and Jared did. He needed financial assistance first (Walter tried to help, and the rest of them pooled it together so as to prevent child services from coming) and when Jared was fifteen, he got himself emancipated and a part time job, juggling it with school. It was tiring, but he got used to it, and now he's good.
