Introduction
"One constant question fills our hearts... A single important curiosity that makes us wonder not only the our purpose, but the whether the flow of the world is correct. Should we live gloriously, or shall we live forever? Should we fear not the end, taking these moments to be beautiful? Or should we live forever, never knowing of true happiness?"
"Together, we shall discover these truths. Come my friends, let us save Mir from itself, for we are the ones who shall lead this world to glory, forever. No matter the outcome, our purpose is clear..."

Welcome, to "Those of Mir" a dark fairy tale gone ghost story and high adventure.
World of Mir
Mir is a land stuck in desolation and loneliness. Its beatiful oceans now icy, yet vibrant with a appearance reminiscent of water colors. Its proud cities left empty. Nothing grows, nothing moves, stuck seemingly forever to stay alive forever. There is no aging,no sickness, no hunger, no happiness. There is endless emptiness that can only be felt, without a reason to put your finger upon it. As characters battle the antagonists, the world will regain its life, but also will realize the sudden fear of death.
A planet scale war is being waged between two divine sisters, all for the sake of their people. One sister, froze the world to create immortality. Under her rule, we cannot die, but we also cannot live. Her power prevents us from feeling true happiness. We feel stuck, unable to grow to our full potential. Yet we will remain... Living forever with those you care about is glorious, in its own special way.
Her sister, much weaker in power, wishes the to be free of its bonds. Let us live gloriously as we never have. We would find love, purpose, destiny. We would pursue our dreams, turning this land into a wonder... yet we would die. Our lives would be limited... Mortality in the price of greatness...
Inhabitants of Mir
"The Goddess of Divine Tones": A frightening figure ruling this ruined world, yet only seems to exist in legend. A violent violinist whose power enslaved the spirits of the world, causing everything to remain still... constant. She cursed all life to become forever immortal, but in doing so, she took away their greatest joys.
Discovering pleasure in power, she rules this world with a combination of honest feelings for her unwilling "subjects", and a madness that seems to cause her to thirst for blood, to create suffering never ending, as not even death can free you from her grasp.
Binders: Powerful servants to "The Goddess of Divine Tones" these few enforce her will, as well as their own, by forcing the inhabitants of the world to their will. To do this, they have instruments of their own, with compositions written by their goddess to use freely.
They can take the spiritual power of the world, living souls very much conscious of their existence, and force them to perform whatever they please, eternally if they so wish. Without death to free a creature, it would be forever shackled in their bonds.
The Boundless: Creatures made from forcing the inhabitants of the world to fight against their will, turning them into violent killers. Conscious while they attacked their own and those who resist them, they try to resist the horrible things they are told to do. The memory of these events often cause them to commit suicide, but being unable to completely die... Thus, they live a tortured existence. They are called Boundless out of a joke, sarcasm perhaps, their being conscious making escape seeming so near...
Free: Spirits that are yet to be bound to anything, they retain much of their physical form that they had in their former life.
Spirits: Both Boundless and Free spirits can change the world if pushed in a certain direction. If enough of them gather, they cause the world around them to change, according to whatever they wish. Thus, now that "The Goddess of Divine Tones" control them, they are forced to do as she pleases, and that is the reasoning the world is dark and desolate.

The Heroes!
Due to this being a world capable of the multi universe, I shall allow characters from original universes that fit in well with this theme. Also characters can be born of this world as well. This will make the story have a diverse cast of characters. Present your sheet however you like if you are from the multi universe, but if not, please use the template below.
Name:
Sex: (only if applicative)
Age: (age of appearance, as well as actual age)
Race: (due to the lands very unique world, you may make up your own. You can be a ghost in this story but these versions of ghosts are just like people, having no way to affect the world outside of your "powers". You can be a inanimate object given power through binding. You can be basically anything, but I ask that you explain your ideas well. As this is a mix of innocent and dark ideas, I'd love characters to reflect that. Unless playing a pure antagonist, show some whimsy to throw in with this dark fairy tale.)
Appearance: (feel free to have fun with this)
Powers: (Be creative. Think outside the box. Does your character have the power to do something awkward and possibly amusing? Try to think away from what has already been done.)
Curses: All non-multi universe characters have some drastic curse preventing them from their dreams. Make these insanely crippling, as when your char breaks free, it is much more endearing. (you can make these slightly comical too, for example a character may be only able to speak pig latin. Or maybe a carpenter whose afraid of houses? Maybe they have a habit of singing instead of talking? These can be ridiculous as well as endearing traits. Maybe even their "form" is from a curse.)
Equipment: (feel free to add the silly and the epic. For example, maybe a book of matches that talk, ect. Normal items are to be expected, but play with your creativity.)
Side:(all characters who join will be on the "good" side trying to end the "Queen of Divine Tones", except for characters who take roles otherwise. I want everyone to mostly be on the same side, helping the story progress that way is much easier.)

Spotting the boy's sword, Melissa dove for it, while holstering her useless gun in a single, fluid movement she had refined ever since she was a small girl. That was a big mistake. Three of the creatures took advantage of Melissa being in the ground and jumped her. As he caught the sword, Melissa rolled over and stabbed one monster with her knife, flipping it over in her fingers and stabbing upwards back-handedly.
"Piece of shit! Die, you fucker!" She stabbed it multiple times as she feebly tried to push it off with one arm. Her other hand was gripping the sword as tight as she could. She wasn't letting it out of her grip. It was too big and ungainly to use the blade in her current position, and the assumed these creatures wouldn't be fazed by blows from the hilt and hand guard. She managed to kick one monster with her legs, using her cleats to tear away some its flesh. She caught what she assumed was its head between her legs and snapped its neck (she hoped) with a twist of her hips. A second later, the monster on top of her finally died. Melissa heaved it off of her, and scrambled to her feet, only to be knocked down again by the third monster. Melissa stabbed it with her knife, then whirled around to slash the creature with the sword. She was starting to tire, but she forced herself to keep going. She was a Lucia, after all, and a warrior. She would never, could never, stop fighting until her enemies were dead, or she herself was slain - gods forbid the latter. She finally reached the boy, and began attacking his attackers, while defending herself from still other attacks. She hoped she wasn't too late for the boy, and even if she was, if she could escape this madness. The pain from her myriads of small wounds was too real for this to just be a simple hallucinogenic trip.

"Are you kidding me? You have to be joking, right?" Aidoni huffed again and shook her fists at her sides. "I cannot believe this! I told you I didn't want to come here! I told you I wanted to get a foot rub! I Baria had just made that new scrub for me to try in the bath!" Grabbing out her intricately designed bow, Aidoni began walking away. "I could be doing so many other things right now! But oooh no! You have to come here and 'see how they're doing'! You have to be all curious! You have to sit there and make me do all the work! I am so tired..." She continued on her tyrade as she walked passed the daemon, swiftly grabbing up three arrows from the quiver attached to her thigh. Stopping, though, she turned her head over her shoulder, peeking over the mass of black hair at him.
"And I have a few words for your tone when I'm finished here, do you understand?" Sighing and stomping her foot, she began walking toward the scuffle. "Bono, keep playing the stupid thing. It slows them down and I really don't feel like working too hard tonight, okay?" Lifting the bow and arrows gracefully, Aidoni aimed, released and was able to pierce the heads of three different Devours. The two new comers were still overwhelmed and she removed one more arrow, impaling another through the eye. The woman had done quite a good job at killing most of the nasty things. Whoever had created these bastards was sick and twisted. Aidoni always hated them and seeing them up close and dead was just awful.
Kicking them off the two with her booted feet first she grabbed up the woman and set her on the ground. Next she gripped the young man's arm and pulled him out from under one of the beasts, sliding him over next to the woman. With a grunt Aidoni walked around recollecting her used arrows and whining when she pulled them free.
"Gross! So gross! Ugh! The things I do for him." With out a second glance at the victims, she made her way back toward her Binder. The bones on her back were lifting up and falling down, as if wishing she could fly away. In her heart she really wanted to, because she knew how much trouble she'd get in for saving them. But Aidoni wasn't a monster. Watching people die wasn't her forte. Bono could do whatever he wanted, because it wouldn't last very long. He wouldn't let anyone touch her either, so she would be okay for now.
Getting closer to her Binder, she pushed passed the daemon, purposely. Giving him a dirty look as she turned around, she folded her arms back over her chest.
"Now... what were you saying again?"

His pale eyes did not move as the deamon sprung towards him, demanding a answer as to how this world could forfeit his right to any soul... how could he answer such a complex question? Life was not something that could be easily explained, and death even less so... Still his face shifted into a sad smile, as his sickly voice spoke loudly, carrying a weight of power just in its mere tone. The sound of his own voice made him somewhat foggy... memories flashing through his head for a moment before he pushed them aside, "There is no end to a soul in Mir.." he spoke simply, fear stirring in his chest as the creature towered over him. "Life can only be manipulated..." and with that the accordion suddenly switched into a regimented tone, as the remaining devour, including the fearsome reborn, begun to walk, unwillingly into the dark depths, thrashing violently as their garbled screams took in the water...
Yet still the pale eyes of the cloaked man remained dull, listless and sickly... staring only into the eyes of the deamon before him. The creature would smell his fear, his cowardice, but it would wonder of some underlying truth that made the man who he was, but more importantly, it demonstrated that fear would not sway him...
"I am Bono" the voice whispered, inflicting a terrible pain into his mind, as memories tried to break through the subconscious barriers that formed complex histories, without purpose or understanding. "Binder of Memory." his seemingly life-less eyes now trailed over to the others, who had fought for their very lives on the shores... before landing upon the still standing fisherwoman, her rough features staring into the depth of the lake...
"You are the ones she spoke of then." he said simplistically, the cloak covering most of his features and betraying any emotion he had felt upon woman reflecting in his eyes. "Adonni, help the injured one, and we must hurry away from this place, before more come upon us." he turned and begun to walk away, "thank you..."
As he walked he stated, "I no doubt you all have many questions, and they will be answered on the way to safety. That much I can promise you. However, if you wish not to come with me..." he shrugged, "You can stay lost in Mir forever, as the fisherwoman lies dead, and there is no way home..."

"Have I gone mad, Sebastian?" Silvio asks. With a flick of his right wrist, the long sword shrinks and shifts back into his cane, and he holds it normally once more. with a flick of his left arm, Sebastian slowly shrinks back to the size of a pocket watch, which he truely is. It takes a bit longer for this because as he shrinks back to normal all the dents, scratches, and so on, remove themselves. "Did I lose my mind, and become lost in a dream of some sort?"
"That all depends, sir. Am I delusional as well?" Sebastian asks, his voice becoming muffled as Silvio slips his back into his pocket. "If I am not, then I think you are not either, because if we both were neither would know. However, if you are, then how can you be sure I'd be able to tell you? wouldn't I just be saying whatever you wanted to hear?"
"I should have let you rust..." Silvio says shaking his head.
During all of this he had only half been paying attention. He was too far away from the two figures on the hill to do anything about them, and so he did not worry, however, he could not have gained access to the boy and the woman either, as the throng of demons was too thick, and Sebastian has sustained far too much damage to go on any longer. And so, he watched as the woman with the dead wings walked past them all and dragged the two other heros away, then walked back. Once she had passed him a second time he went to the wounded and kneeled beside them.
"Do you have any serious wounds?" he asked the woman as he looked the boy over. "I think he is still alive, but it's hard to tell. Can you walk miss? If so, then I can carry him to a safer place and give him a better look."

"Aidoni do this. Aidoni do that." She mocked. "He's so gross and human. Of course you'd make me carry him!" The woman saw how he kept retreating inside his mind. It irritated her when he did that. No one else could see it, but she could. She hated it when he'd go to that place and never tell her where it was or what was there. Aidoni wanted to just scream and cry because it always made her feel so lonely.
With another huff and a snarl at the daemon, the flightless raven moved her booted feet over the grass and toward the two wounded ones. Another of the new group to Mir had joined them and was doing the polite thing and helping. How annoying! Standing over them with her fists on her supple hips, Aidoni had to adjust the leather belt holding her bowie knife once more. It was a heavy bloody thing, good for nothing, really. But damn, it was so pretty.
"I'll take the unconscious one." She spoke reluctantly, looking down her nose at the three. "He's coming with us, no arguments. You can come to if you want. Just stay out of my way." Everything was spoken nonchalantly. She may as well have been giving them the recipe for apple pie. Kneeling down she picked up the young man, her muscles and tendons growing taught under his weight. It was not hard on her though. Being in this immortal human form, Aidoni was much stronger than she appeared.
"Make up your minds quickly. I won't let Bono stay for much longer. I hate this place." Glancing over at the fisher woman lying dead in the waters of her life she sighed inwardly. What a loss. Aidoni hadn't really minded the woman. There was no reason for her to have been killed. She turned, her face returning to irritation and anger. There weren't many things that made her happy and right now everything was like a fly in her soup.

Standing in a city, underground. Running, hiding, terrified, he felt all this but stood at one point. He swung a hand through his ethereal body, met the eyes of an unseeing man. He was no more visible than the emotions in his head.
Confusion, mostly.
A waft of enticing air met his senses, and so Mason scanned the region for a source. He couldn't tell exactly what was going on here, since walls of steel or obsidian blocked his line of sight. All he knew was the smell of food - and haunting screams with no relief in sight.
An assembly line, built to produce screams.
Mason's head lulled innocently, bouncing with the raven-girl's every step. His eyelids twitched slightly, beautiful nightmares filling his head, whispering sweet nothings to his senses.
And with a start, he stirred. Pain was the first thing he felt, from every part of his body. As though something had been trying to eat him alive. What a silly thought. "What the frell happened?" he groaned, realizing how bad his condition was. A long scrape had torn apart his tunic, leaving mere threads behind. Another scar ran down his cheek and onto his nose, which still dripped blood. He glanced around to see the others, who had apparently gotten out of the fight in relatively unscathed condition. "Where are we? And where are we going?"

"Bono is taking you to a safe place." In front of her walked the Binder. Her Binder. The man she loathed, but the only man she trusted. It sickened her really. The way she felt was ridiculous and confusing. She hated every single moment of it. The skies were still dark and she could feel the stranger's blood dripping down the backs of her legs into her boots. Groaning she stopped and put him down.
"Seriously?" Looking at him with wide, violet eyes, Aidoni started to wipe the warm life from her smooth skin. "Can't you people keep that stuff from ruining everything?!" It was like all they ever did was torment and terrorize and vandalize! She could see no end in sight for the stupid race. They'd come through Mir plenty of times and every time they'd brought ruin or more chaos or just whiny complaints to her ears. Realizing she'd never get it off with just her hands she reached over and tore a piece of his ruined shirt off.
"Thank you!" Sarcasm poured from her pink lips as she wiped it from her leather boots. Turning her eyes back to him she pressed the soiled cloth to the cut on his face. "Keep that pressed to it so you don't bleed all over me anymore." Aidoni appeared to be grace in leather straps, when in fact, she was rougher than that. The featherless wings on her back twitched for a moment.
"Do you think you can walk?" Something in her eyes hinted to care. A piece of a memory she couldn't figure out, a shard of the soul she may have once had. But the Binding kept it at bay in her mind and so she felt nothing even though that sparkle told all the truth. "If you can, I don't have to carry you, which is better anyway because you reek of those disgusting creatures." Her face twisted at the memory of their smell.

His pale, handsome features said nothing, merely nodding as injured one begun to stir. His cloaked body seemed to shiver in the cold, and despite his best efforts to keep his composure, he fell into a minor fit of coughing, turning away from the group as he did, so they would not see the contorted appearance that his face took from the painful scratching at his throat.
"We must keep moving." he said shakily, moving carefully on top of the snow. "Castle Masquerade is somewhat difficult to find at your own leisure." he said in a voice worthy of one explaining 2+2 in the presence of a very small, and even smaller minded, child.

They were extensive, but shallow. Creatures that bit and scratched could only do so much to harm a man in such a limited time as they'd had to attack him. It was mostly the proximity to his eyes that alarmed him. He could have suffered serious damage to his vision, if they hadn't missed them. In response to her question, he tested his legs, wincing as the injuries stung. "I can walk," he declared shortly.
Luckily, he wasn't in the mood for a confrontation. Normally, he might have gotten angry at her, but the cold and the pain worked as a sedative, making him easygoing and dulling his senses.
The other man, the pale one, spoke of a 'Castle Masquerade', causing Mason to turn in confusion. "Castle Masquerade?" he asked, walking forward at a someone ragged pace. "What's that?"

"That's a bad cough the old fellow has," Sebastian comments, his voice slightly muffled in Silvio's ears, probably unhearable to the others. "Hope he can make it to this masked castle, or whatever he called it."
"Sush Sebastian, now is not the time. As long as this Castle Masquerade is not like the Red Palace, or New York, I think we shall be fine," Silvio says patiently, in a normal voice.
Over the years, Silvio had gotten used to Sebastian, and in speaking with him despite the stares of those around him. In his mind there was no reason to fret about how others saw him, because it was more than likely that he wouldn't know them for long. So far, nearly everyone he has met has either wound up dead, or kept away from him for one reason or another. Just like the princess.
"You said it would be hard to find this castle at our own pace, correct?" Silvio speaks up so that Bono can hear him. "What exactly does that mean? I admit, this world is rather...odd, but how can it be harder to find a place if we take our time, rather than hurry along?" He had seen many things in his time, but was this man trying to say that, prehaps this castle did not stay in one spot?

So we are hemmoraging people lol,but now that I know why no one has posted, it leaves me free to try to put some up. I'll try to get something up here soon (unfortunately, my house is roughly 10 degrees warmer than it is outside, so it makes it nearly impossible to do anything but lie under the blankets)

Re: [OOC] Those of Mir...
Merican, due to bono's unique ability to have people review memories, I have a neat suggestion that some of his own experiences on Mir transfer a bit over to your character, which allows you to kinda take a look at some happenings on Mir.
Other than that, you can wait till we are near castle Masquerade :)
Re: [OOC] Those of Mir...
Um, I was trying to think of a post, but if Mason's injuries were as bad as Music posted they were, he probably wouldn't wake up right away. Opinions???

Re: [OOC] Those of Mir...
The plan is for 'Merican to take over now that Mason's been knocked out. That way, if she portrays him slightly differently than I did, you can cop it up to him hitting his head on a rock or something.
