SAILING FROM: Cherbourg
DATE: 12th April 1912
PASSENGER NAME: Adam O'Riordan Rourke
AGE: 25
FROM: An unspecified city in Ireland
ACCOMPANIED BY: N/A (Though he is actually accompanied by Helena Charlemagne)
PASSENGERS PROFESSION: Aspiring artist, circus performer (and critically acclaimed animal charmer)
CLASS: (First, Second, third) Third
TRAVELLING TO: New York
REASON FOR TRAVELLING: America is the country of choice when aspiring to make a dream come true. That stated, Adam is convinced he will be able to achieve said dream there.
PASSENGER FACTS: Adam is a second generation circus performer. His father was a lion and bear tamer, while his mother was a tightrope walker and a dancer. He does not specify how they died.
PERSONALITY: Though his disheveled appearance may seem abrasive, Adam is actually very tenderhearted and charming. He is a great conversationalist once addressed, though it is rare he actually initiates a conversation first. He is a rather quiet fellow, very even tempered and gentle, and because of this, people have the tendency to think he is mentally ill. On the contrary, though he never finished school, Adam is very intelligent. He is always respectful and humble, and hardly ever becomes angry. When he is upset, however, he retreats to whatever safe haven he can find and probably won't acknowledge his offender until he has forgiven them. He does have a knack for holding grudges but most of them are short lived. He rarely ever raises his voice, but sometimes he will express his rage by breaking things.
EQUIPMENT: It is uncommon to see him without his sketchbook and some pencils.
HISTORY: Adam was originally born in a small city in Ireland and raised in a circus family. Because they were always traveling, Adam never had any friends nor a solid education. As a child he kept mostly to himself, establishing better connections with the animals rather than people. His mother and father were kind folk, as were the rest of the performers, but this never changed the fact that Adam hated his gypsy lifestyle. As he got older, Adam found that he had an almost supernatural ability to calm and command any animal he came into contact with. Of course, his parents and the ringmaster delighted in his newfound talent, and almost immediately included him in the show.
The success of his performances was overwhelming for then thirteen year old Adam, but nevertheless he did as he was told. The summer he turned eighteen, his father became sick with an incurable and unknown disease. He died just before Christmas that same year, devastating young Adam. He abandoned his animal charming techniques and instead began drawing and painting, which he instantly fell in love with. He remained with his circus family, as his mother continued her acts, until three and a half years later, she also died. That same year he met nineteen year old Helena, a runaway gypsy from a different troupe with an enchanting voice and fortune telling capabilities.
Though her beauty was hypnotic, their relationship became sibling like and innocent. They grew closer and more inseparable by the day it seemed, which was a good remedy to Adam's broken heart and Helena's insecurities. On Adam's twenty-fourth birthday, the travelers passed through France, and it is then he and Helena decided to run away. They made a living selling Adam's artwork and Helena found small jobs singing in taverns and burlesques. When word of the Titanic reached the couple, they both knew what their next destination would be. By the salary of which they lived off, it was only possible to purchase one ticket; so after devising an elaborate plan, Helena snuck onboard.
