General information:
Age: 20
Power: Possession; she possess the body of another human and control their actions completely. The way she does this is her soul has to leave her body, making herself appear to be dead, while it travels into another human beings body. This can leave the person being possessed weak and unconscious when she leaves their body. It requires great focus and calm for this to work if Lara gets too emotional she'll lose control and return to her body as weak as the person she tried possessing.
Status: Villain new recruit
Face claim: Molly Quinn
Sexuality:Asexual
Physical Appearance:
Lara stands at 5' 4", just shy of the "average height for women", but she never wears heels to seem more of an average height. She has long red hair that is typically straight, unless she's feeling girly then she'll curl it, but this isn't typically normal for her. She is a rather curvy individual and you can tell that she's one who enjoys a hamburger every now and then; more of a fleshy type, not muscular nor supermodel skinny, just healthy. She walks and holds herself as if she has something she's trying to hide; no big strides, usually she's looking at the ground or reading a book while she walks, her arms are usually (if not holding a book) wrapped around her or hands in the pocket. People always suspect that she is suspicious if not running from something. This is mostly done on purpose as it keeps the smart people away, but has the gullible people swarm around her to see if she's okay.
She has a rather round face with very soft features, making her look younger than she is. Her eyes are round, a light hazel color, and fairly small. Some people describe them as being "beady eyes", adding to her villain status. She isn't one to smile, but if she does it's sarcastic, mocking, and just a little evil. Not to say that her smile isn't beautiful, but typically her smile holds motives, it is carefully planned to give her what she wants. If she isn't smiling, typically her face is in a blank, somewhat sad expression; a slight pout, eyes never looking at people's faces unless they're looking away. If you catch her looking at someone while they are looking the expression on her face is slightly mischievous; her eyes unwavering and blinking less often, her mouth will either be in that smile of hers or she'd be biting her lip as if she's focusing on an important problem. Any other facial expression will be part of a trap, trying to trick someone; an innocent look, anger, worry or concern, all these facial expression look very convincingly real. Lara also doesn't like to wear too much make-up besides a lightly colored lipstick and possibly the addition of eye-shadow, thought the latter is less likely.
Marks: No tattoos or piercings, but there is a long white scar on her lower back from when her body fell while she was possessing someone else
General clothing: She prefers things that are more comfortable like shorts or jeans, a loose t-shirt, tennis shoes or sandals, and a two-sizes-too-big sweater of some kind. It'll be harder for her to dress in something more girly, but it can be done. While out on missions she'll typically wear jeans, running shoes, and a long-sleeved black shirt with maybe the addition of a jacket depending on how cold it is where she's planning on going.
Personality:
Lara isn't one to show an over amount of emotion, or even feel it. She typically represses any kind of emotion as it will interfere with her power or possession. She is manipulating, to the point that you never entirely certain if she had planned everything that just happened or not, and she will never let you know either. She finds that it's fun to mess with other's minds, if she can leave someone in a state of confusion then in her mind she had just completed her mission, so to speak. Lara is a thinker more so than she is a doer, she will analyze a target for at least a week before making a move, she likes to plan things out far in advance and have back up plans for her back up plans. That being said, she is very controlling. She prefers to be the one in charge and if not then she will become disconnected and hide inside a book, this is what typically happens while out training with the others. Lara is a lone wolf, she hates working in a team because she ends up doing everything, feeling as though everyone else is shirking their duties or going to slow, even if they aren't. By herself her plans go swimmingly well, she is in control of every chess piece, of all her moves, and she trust only herself to get things done.
Lara is very quiet, she is far from the type to "raise her hand and give an answer" even if she knows what the answer is. She feels the most comfortable when no one is paying her any attention, she feels more in her own world where she can control what goes in and out, in a matter of speaking, than if someone were to bring their drama into her world. Not to say that she doesn't like quiet places, far from it, she actually prefers to surround herself by people and noise. Cafes are where she likes to hang out because it makes it easier to just people watch, analyze everyone even if they aren't a future target of hers. However if someone crosses over into her world, they will meet a great amount of passive aggression and sarcasm until they leave. She doesn't want to hear about your life's story, she doesn't want to hear your problems, and if you ask for help she'll probably tell you to go find a psychiatrist who's job is to help instead of some random stranger you met at a cafe. She is also an anarchist, that the government doesn't have any real, legitimate power over others and shouldn't and that we should take back our freedoms using force and violence.
She has an odd sense of humor to say the least. Often times she will joke about hiding a dead body or tearing off someone's limbs and getting away with it. Partially why she developed this sense of humor is the look on people's faces when she tells them these jokes, but also because she knows she's a villain and so these are fun inside jokes because most of them might actually be true. One thing you can probably count on with Lara is that she will never tell the truth, unless she knows that you'll find the truth so absurd you'll think it's a lie. That being said you find it a surprising amount of times that she actually confessed to crimes, but every time the people she was telling just thought she was lying and laughed, not actually taking it seriously. She isn't one to trust others, even the other villains, yes they are the only other people who understand what it's like, but she knows perfectly well that in a lot of circumstances they would stab her in the back without hesitation, she knows this because she would do the same thing to them. Having a soul that can travel to other's bodies, Lara knows who she is beyond a doubt, this isn't to say that she's knows certain bits of her past, but she knows who she is at the core; that she's manipulation, shouldn't be trusted, she knows what her moves are going to be in pretty much every situation, she knows that she suppresses her feelings until they die as well as bits of her past, and she knows why she has to suppress those. That's the phrase she always keeps telling herself, suppress and forget until it's all gone.
Likes: apple cider, bookstores, the city, psychology, wool, Fall/Autumn, stealing, and museums
Dislikes: ice (on the ground, in drinks, just in general), forests, the government, the movies, sea food and fish, the color pink, overly fluffy items, and sparkles
Fears: that the government will completely take over the country, of what will happen if the government catches her, what will happen if her memories come back, when people dig to deep in her past (which hasn't happened yet because of all the defensive walls she's put up), and having someone else actually understand her as well.
Weaknesses: After using her power she's usually very tired and disoriented as her soul regains a connection with her body, at this point she can only possess someone for about thirty minutes, she can only possess someone who is a block away from her body any further and her soul gets lost and returns, she isn't a team player and doesn't trust others which leaves her body very vulnerable while she's possessing, she can't do split decisions so if she is at a loss (if her back up, back up plans didn't work) then she is left with nothing to defend herself, she isn't strong physically and can easily be taken in a fight if she's in her own body that is, after she posses someone and if they run into her they won't recognize her in the way of physical appearance as they've never see her but they will however find a familiarity in her that they can't explain as they had shared a body for a little bit, and if she does grow attached to something or someone it will be an easy opening for her enemies to target her since she's never had one before and doesn't know how to balance that sort of thing with the rest of her life.
Strengths: Lara is prepared for absolutely everything leaving nothing to surprise, she is a hard worker and constantly trains to get better control over her powers always pushing the limits, once she has made up her mind on a mission she will not waver until she gets what she wants, she is a master puppeteer and can manipulate just about anyone, she is so well guarded that she knows nobody will be able to control her, she has a high pain tolerance because when she first started possessing people coming back into her own body left her in a lot of pain, while possessing someone she has all the knowledge and skills that she personally has as well as the knowledge and skills of the person she is possessing, and she is so much in control of her own feelings that she will be hard to break.
History:
Lara was born in New York state in one of it's forests. Her mother was a writer and her dad was a businessman whom traveled a lot, she was an only child that was being home-schooled. Her powers didn't show up until she was six when she accidentally possessed their dog. At first she had just thought that it was a strange dream and that she might have accidentally fell asleep, but the pain was too much and she knew what had really happened, especially after the dog was howling in pain as well. After that first possession her parents had kept sending her to the doctors to make sure she was alright as well as the dog because they thought that the two had contracted a disease from one another, when nothing showed up they gave Lara's parents strong pain killers in case that happened again. Lara became curious about this strange this that had happened that she started to practice more, much to the dog's dismay. Every time however she was left with pain and her parents thought she was contracting migraines. Though since she was so young she had told her parents what was actually happening with her. At first they didn't believe her, but things started to connect in their heads. The moment they believed her, they also became scared of her; she wasn't allowed out of the house anymore, or even her room except for when using the bathroom or for food.
One night when Lara had a fight with her parents about wanting to go to a real school instead of being home-schooled. Lara was so mad at her parents that she made the plan to possess her mother to sign the papers for letting her into a public school. However her anger pushed her out of possession, when she found her mom after the possession her mother was lying unconscious on the ground next to the table. She called the ambulance, at the hospital it was the doctor's understanding she had fell and hit her head on the table and that she contracted a small concussion, what was worse however was that that concussion had triggered a brain tumor that had been hiding in her mother's brain. Her mother had died shortly after that. Her dad knew what happened and when the two of them got home her dad started yelling at her that she was a monster and tried to kill her, but Lara was quick and possessed her father long enough for her to have him kill himself. It was out of self-defense or at least that's what she told herself. She was fifteen at the time and the house she lived in started to fall apart. Soon she was living in a broken house at the end of a broken road.
One day a man came up to her, he had ragged, short, blond hair and a flirtatious smile. He told her that he could help her control her powers and help her grow them even further. At first she was hesitant she had grown so used to living alone the past three years, of thinking of herself as a monster and trying to repress it, but the man persisted. He told her that if she came with him she would learn that she wasn't a monster, but someone who was just different and that she could find others like her and together they could take out anyone who thought they were monsters. He showed her what he could do and after that she agreed. She joined the villains and she got everything that he had told her. With a new environment she started to heal herself from what happened in that broken house at the end of that broken road. She suppressed most of those memories, so well that all she remembers now is that her parents had died leaving her in that house until the man came, past that she just simply doesn't know anymore. With the group she created with herself a dysfunctional family, one where nobody trusted anyone else and that they were only looking out for themselves, but she liked it because at least people understood her, understood what she did and didn't judge her because of it. They left her to her own devices while also giving her a community to belong to as well.
Significant events: The memories of killing her family that lead to her suppressing everything and having that be second nature, agreeing to join villains lead her to being an anarchist, to stealing and cheating and more killing, living in a place outside of society's values lead to her developing her own set of values and her own way of acting (i.e. the manipulation and playing with people's mind), having the power that she does has lead her to have an obsession for control and that lead to her suppressing any kind of emotion for better control over her power and therefore more power in general
Joining the group: The promise of finding others like and not being called or considered a monster anymore (or learning not to care at least)
Relationships:
Allen Hayes - The two have known each other for quite a while and their comfort for each other was hard pressed. Allen was the one who had pursued Lara, each day trying to talk with and get her to talk for about thirty minutes or so. It wasn't till after an argument the two were having about anarchism that the two had become a little closer and Lara found herself feeling a level of comfort in Allen that she had never had. This was because during that argument Lara had referred to herself as a monster and Allen reprehending her for calling herself such. Now Lara doesn't mind and actually sometimes looks to be around Allen, though he can still be annoying enough that she can still ignore him, but she ignores him far less than everyone else.
James T. Mercer - Lara doesn't see much of anything in him; she doesn't necessarily like him nor dis-like him and in all actuality the only reason she is even ever around him is because they're on the same team and sometimes have to work together. It isn't as though she will be in complete disdain if he's in the same room...that is unless she's trying to read and if he's making a lot of noise.
Genevieve LeBlanc[/i] - As Genevieve wasn't the one who recruited Lara honestly doesn't hold a very tight connection with her. Lara respects most of Genevieve's decisions with their missions and so the two don't typically run into any sidebar arguments, however Lara still has a hard time following orders and so she may act out in different ways; changing up the game plan , ignoring any "house rules", etc. Yet she still wants to learn some of Genevieve's manipulation techniques. All in all, in Lara's perspective, the two have a rather odd teacher/student sort of relationship in that Lara does want to learn some tricks from Genevieve and holds a certain respect for the older woman, but Lara still is who she is and will fight any authority/judgments/opinions that she feels is unjustified or undeserved.
