New York City

It was about 7 p.m. and Danny walked down an alley along the busy streets of New York looking for his target. He and Zach had been instructed to hunt down the three Raptors that seemed to be killing off and harming people. Danny felt chills run down his back. It was December and the temperature was really low at this time of the year. There was snow as white as paper covering the pavement. Danny always had to be careful and watch out for yellow snow. This was the bad part of the city, and people around here seemed to have no hygiene. He stuffed his hands in his black Nightmare Before Christmas hoody and continued walking until he reached a dark alley. He slowly pulled out his cell phone and frowned as he looked at the time. Still no Zach. Where the hell is he? Suddenly, the area around him went completely silent. This always happened to Soul hunters when there was Oni nearby. The Illuminadi still wasn't quite sure why this happened, but nonetheless, it helped Soul hunters focus on their target. Danny suddenly saw a flicker at the corner of his eye. Out of nowhere, three creatures appeared. Each creature had big bug-like eyes and was completely bald. Claws extended out of their hands and a row of sharp teeth appeared as they opened their mouths and began growling. Danny shuddered as he stared at their scaly-green skin. It was hard to believe that these things were once human.

"Damn Raptors," muttered Danny as they encircled and approached him.

Kirsten licked her lips absently in her sleep, a coppery taste flooding her mouth. It was sweet but sharp.. she had tasted it before. She barely woke up, trying to remember where she had tasted that very distinct taste. Images of losing teeth as a child came to mind and she jolted to full awareness as the word entered he mind. Blood. She sat up with a start, a sickening crack audible as she did so. Her fingers stuck together as she lifted ehr hand to brush hair from her face, and in the pale moonlight she saw what she was covered in. The dark red liquid, half gummed up and half dried soaked her. Her clothes were dry in some patches and others still gummy with blood. She felt her breath leave her in a whoosh, the concrete hard under her legs. Concrete? She looked around anxiously. She was lying in a deserted parking lot.. in a pool of blood. She couldn't hold it in any longer. Kirsten opened her mouth wide and screamed as loud as she could.

Zach was at a bar and he was having fun with some friends. They didn't know he was a soul hunter and he planned to keep a secret. It was about 6:45pm and Zach had met some girls which had distracted him for a bit. It was around 7pm now and Zach was a little tipsy, someone started talking about COD and killing. That was when Zach remembered about him and Danny's instructions to hunt down some Raptors. He quickly finished things and run out of the bar. He was running and he got his phone out and tried to call Danny but he didn't pick up. The Raptors were probably already there, Zach knew that Danny was far too experienced to be struggling right now but if there were two of them the job would be done quicker. He was nearly there but there as a big large empty car park he had to cross before entering the maze of the New York alleys. Zach sprinted along until he could smell a strong scent of blood. He stopped and looked around until he could see a blurry sight of redness far ahead. He could see something moving, this could be a different creature, he ran towards it and loaded his gun. The thing was getting bigger and bigger and then it screamed. A piercing sound in his ears. He jumped and aimed the gun at it. As he got closer it was visible that it was human and it was a she. He lowered his gun and made his way over. She was covered in blood.

"What the hell.. How did you-? What-? Are you-?" He couldn't finish his sentences because he was too shocked. He put his gun back in his back pocket and walked over closer towards her. He grabbed her arms and tried to get her up. Everything was very sticky and he had forgotten about Danny. This lady was covered in blood and she looked scared as ever.

Kirsten was too scared to move as the man pointed his gun at her. Then he tucked it behind him and pulled her to her feet. He looked shocked to see her, almost angry. "What the hell.. How did you-? What-? Are you-?" She pulled away from him, blood dripping from her clothes and the smell awful. She wiped her mouth on her hand, the blood coming off her lips in clumps, but some of it still stuck. She sighed, speaking in a hoarse whisper and shuddering as she tasted the blood again.

"Kirsten... I dont know.." The realization reached her with a sudden shock. "I cant remember.. anything." She shivered uncontrollably, the blood gooey and disgusting against her skin. She watched the man, fear trickling her spine.
