Description

Drusilla does not appear to be much different from your average Big Sister. She’s a tall, thinly framed woman who, from the parts of her body visible, appears to be in her late teens or early twenties. Honestly Drusilla is much older but has little recognition of time since she had been changed as a child. The patches of skin that remain exposed through her makeshift suit are deathly pale and over the years have taken on somewhat of a greenish tone. Like the other Sisters she is remarkably fast and agile. Her powerful and long legs that she uses to speed and bound through the dystopia are wrapped from her ankles to mid-thigh in thick, black leather straps with silver buckles holding them tight against her skin. The area around her kneecaps is free from these constricting bonds and is instead covered over by scrapped metal dotted with welded screws filed to vicious points. Her arms are wrapped in a similar style, from wrists to shoulder with her elbows bare instead of clad in spiked iron. Her hands are hidden inside her syringe gauntlets and hardly ever see the light. On her sturdy shoulders Drusilla has two large shoulder guards made of rounded iron marked with the same spikes crafted from random screws and random bits of cast off metal. These protective casts are dwarfed by the large helmet that hides her face. It resembles the common diving caps donned by her siblings with a few modifications. On the top of her headgear are three short fins forged from sharpened sheet metal. These razor sharp edges merge at a point right above her porthole and travel back, fanning out as they go back.

While each Sister has her own eerie glow that emits from the single glass port in their helmets Drusilla’s is a vibrant green. This normally casts her already twisted appearance in a sickly gleam making her appear as though she’d just stepped out of a flying saucer. The green coloring is similar to the bits of emerald ribbons that hang from the wire caging securely attached to her back. While she may be the captain of her deadly sisters she still is subject to the duties of protecting their pint-sized siblings. Often her basket contains a Little Sister who had to be whisked away to the safety of the sanctuary. This crude cradle with its scraps of colorful bows is perhaps the cheeriest part of Drusilla’s ensemble. Her corset is a midnight black that matches her arm and leg belts but a strange swirling design had been stitched into the soft leather with a deep jade thread. The same patter adorns her pair of scrappy ebony shorts that cover the lower half of her body. These are not made out of the typical leather she covered herself with but instead plain cotton and it appears as if they’d been pants at one point that she shredded to suit her needs.

Beneath her helmet Drusilla still resembles a human being, a hard thing to say for most Rapture citizens. Her face is thin and her high cheekbones and deep eye sockets make the shadows on her face more pronounced. This gives the terrifying woman a haunted look about her that struck fear into the few that had seen her face before their deaths. Like all sisters, big or little, Drusilla’s eyes are washed out by an unearthly light. This dark glimmer is a luminescent shade of shimmering green and seems to command anyone’s attention and respect. Often though, the gripping orbs are slightly covered by the wild locks of thick blond hair that fall freely about her head. Since she is more preoccupied with Rapture and her duties Drusilla hardly has time for grooming leaving the locks unbrushed and tangled.

Personality

Drusilla is much like every Big Sister in personality. Her main goal that overrides even her sense of self-preservation is the protection and continuation of Rapture and its Little Sisters. She would fight to the death for those delusional ADAM producers and would slaughter even other Big Sisters if they posed a threat to the little darlings. In this light one could call Drusilla cold, heartless, even ruthless but really she has a job to do and it will get done one way or another. This undeniable drive to succeed where others have failed in stabilizing Rapture is why she became the leader of the Big Sisters. Her ability to organize the agile killers is astounding and the others seem to listen to her without question. But that’s just to her face. Drusilla is vicious and would strike down any who questioned her authority keeping most of her comrades silent about their protests for fear of her unstable wrath. She knows that a few of the Sisters don’t agree with her plan to “repopulate” Rapture and frankly she doesn’t care. As long as they keep their opinions to themselves and follow orders they can keep grumbling in the shadows of the murky hallways.

History

In the early years Drusilla wasn’t the big, bad lady she is today. She was once a little girl. Drusilla Mare lived with her family in Rapture just as the civil unrest was reaching it’s peak. Revolution was the word on everyone’s lips and many of the peaceful citizens had been talking about heading back to the surface, no longer finding their underwater home safe. Mary Mare and her husband Richard were among those looking for a way out of the city before it completely fell into madness. Yet before they could even try the small poor family was dealt a terrible blow. One morning, before Rapture citizens had awakened to start their day, Drusilla was visited in her bedroom and promised candy and safety. She was going to be a princess if she just followed the man that was at the foot of her bed.

Gleefully she followed the man out the window and to a place that her mother had warned her about. She said this was where they took naughty little girls and turned them into ghosts. The game was no longer fun and when Drusilla tried to run the man grabbed her and she was dragged inside the large doors of Little Sisters Orphanage. What would happen beyond that dark doorway would bury the Drusilla Mare of Rapture and from the death a new Little Sister would be born.

Now a carried of those nasty little sea slugs that produced the vital ADAM that Rapture craved Drusilla spent years traveling around Rapture. Collecting ADAM from the angels she saw and frolicking with her constant companion Big Daddy Drew life was an endless playtime. Little did the glowing eyed girl know was the city had been crushed, now a sad brutal shell of its former self. Splicers ruled the corridors and Big Daddy Drew crushed several skulls a day just to keep his little girl safe. Life went on like this for longer than Drusilla realized. Due to the constant stream of ADAM in her body it took much longer for her to age than the average child but she still grew slowly but surely.

One day she became too big to play with her Daddy and their angels. She had lost the illusion of innocence that she had as a Little Sister and now saw the city for what it was. A tomb for the failures of the smartest the world above had to offer. A city brought down by its own genius. Still she had a task to perform and under Sofia Lamb she would carry out the mission of guarding Little Sisters and fighting off the Big Daddies she once loved till her death or until Rapture sunk into the sea; which it nearly did. Sofia Lamb fell as many of those before her and after her attempt to take Rapture to the bottom of the sea with her failed the dismal metropolis was once again left to its own devices.

For awhile the Big Sisters kept to their work. Escorting Little Sisters about the ruins to collect ADAM and process it in their tiny bodies. Occasionally the remains of the Sisters and Daddies would clash and usually the fights resulted in death. Yet when their numbers began to dwindle mainly they kept to the unspoken agreement to stay out of eachothers sight and everything will go smoothly. Yet Drusilla noticed a problem with Rapture. The city was dying. While Splicers were still running around and a few unchanged citizens were left it wasn’t enough for the Little Sisters to collect enough ADAM to their liking. There simply weren’t enough people dying. So, to fix their little dilemma Drusilla had to do something. So, taking charge of the remaining Big Sisters she had decided to start project Repopulation. As the name suggested her plan was to bring people from the surface into Rapture, maybe use some of them to harvest more ADAM and have the others simply for entertainment. None of the Big Sisters protested.

And one day there was an alarm sounded inside the Sanctuary. A boat was approaching the lighthouse about and it was filled with sweet little people from the surface world. How convenient. . .

So begins...
