Personality: Balthasar speaks softly both in tongue and temperament. He was a teacher for most of his life, so he knows how to control his temper and teach even unwilling students. He is widely known for his insight, power, and for the kindness he shows to all, both mage and not. Balthasar has a great sense of humor that only a old man could achieve. He finds the youth surprisingly amusing and intriguing, always happy to let them grow and smile fondly on them as they blunder. He is not always so calm and nice for even he has things he will not accept. He does not tolerate magic abuse. Magic is to aid fellow man, not to harm them. He does not look kindly on such actions although he knows the use of powerful magic and does not stop students from learning it merely attempts to have wisdom and guidance taught as well. Any fool may wield a sword but knowing when to swing and when not to is what makes a good man.

Biography: Balthasar has lived among mages all his life. He was brought to the guild as a child of 5 and has trained ever since. He was found to have an extraordinary gift with the arcane arts and by the time he was 16, he was teaching other pupils bringing them into their full magical potential. Balthasar never had much in the personal relationship area as he never truly desired such things concentrating on his mind and not his base instincts and desires. He did leave the guild often to go on trips around the world to expand his knowledge and underwent many missions for the guild, many of which he had a good chance of not returning.. but he would not be stopped.
At 40, he dueled and defeated the last Archmage becoming the new Archmage and has held the position for over 30 years defeating all who sought his position as head of the guild. Most mages have gave up fighting for the position as Balthasar has been a great archmage leading with wisdom and control expanding the guild into new greater heights. Their are whispers that some disgruntled high mages are looking to take out Balthasar as they see his kindness as a weakness. With the power the guild has gained they could do much... the world could be theirs, but Balthsar is to blind.. but of course these are merely whispers and rumors.
