Lorelei Keavaris's Story

Lorelei poured her some tea and gave it to Roshia who took it. She blew and began to slowly drink it. She made a face and Lorelei laughed. "Yeah it is a medical tea, but you need to drink it. And I can't tell anyone... I just have to trust myself and the people around me to do what is need to once he strikes, Rowan." She said.

"Yeah, just... a small pain in my abdomen, nothing to worry about." She smiled.

"I want you to rest, Roshia. No strenuous work... which means no hunting. Being safe is more important."

Rowan shook his head at Lorelei. "Ok then....Come get us if you get in over your head then I guess if youre that stubborn about it..." Rowan said with a sigh. Rowan didnt get what Lorelei was thinking trying to control the situation herself but it was clear she wasnt going to tell them anything important. He turned his attention back to Roshia. "I'll take today off and stay home with you until you feel better okay? Nothing but rest for you for a good while, okay? And no more hunting, it puts too much strain on your body right now.." He said softly before kissing Roshias forehead.

Roshial nodded, finishing the tea. The pain had gone away and she got up. She told Lorelei that they were going to head back and that she better be safe around that man. Lorelei nodded. They walked out when Lorelei grabbed Rowan's arm, "He isn't interested in me, so you two can stop worrying. Who he interested is... I am more worried if I tell what he would do. The guy is a holier than thou kinda guy. Just take care of my sister and I will worry about everything."

Roshia had walked a bit further when she notice Rowan wasn't walking and she was too far to hear what they were talking about.

Rowan stopped walking when Lorelei grabbed his arm. "Just tell me his name later if you know it, he seems familiar to me and I dont like it. If you know it then visit the house later, bring Roshia some more tea in case the pains come back." He said quietly. Beforewalking out the door, softly closing it behind him and walking up to Roshia. "Lets get you back into bed huh?" He said taking her hand in hisas they walked, smiling softly at her.

Lorelei had been in the middle of looking over a specimen when she heard the frantic knocks and Ofelia screaming saying that there was an emergency with Nasir. She hurried out the door and saw him almost dead on the dragon. She had to calm down herself before looking around. "I am going to need help getting him off the dragon, hold on." She ran to get her father and Beluar then ran into Roshia's house and begged Elwin to come help with getting Nasir into her lab and that he was in critical condition. Elwin scrambled out the door and Roshia followed. They got him off the dragon and onto a cot in her lab. She took off his shirt and everyone except her father gasped.

Once Lorelei started to work on him Roshia turned to Ofelia and dragged her out, "What the hell happened?" It was clear that she was pissed. Elwin had walked out now and held her arm, "Calm down, Roshia. You don't need to put any strain on your body. It could have been an accident... and she could have been the one to save him. Don't rip her head off before knowing the story." Roshia glared at him, relaxing a bit. He was right after all. She needed to calm down for her unborn child, but she couldn't stop the tears.

Ofelia didnt want to talk, especially to Roshia. She wanted to go home, curl up and pretend nothing ever happened. She was expecting Roshia to immediately chew her head off, but Elwin stopped her."We were in the forest off the island and this cat...thing..attacked us..It made the ground rumble like thunder..Nasir tried to fight it off but it threw him into a wall with its tail and..." Ofelia didnt say anything else, her hands still trembling. "I brought him here as fast as the dragon could fly...I'm sorry.." She mumbled turning towards her dragon. She wanted to run away. All of this was her fault.

Rowan had been gone since the early morning, mainly for work and having to visit his mother who chewed him about about not visiting for just over a week. He also had gone out to do some land surveying so he was gone for a while. He came home to a really frightening scene. His wife was crying, ofelia looked shaken up and there was a dragon IN the village. Rowan ran up to the group, pulling Roshia to him "What happend!? " He asked looking around. Ofelia looked like she wanted to run away and didnt say anything. Rowan looked at Elwin for answers as he held Roshia.

Everything was rushing for Roshia, "Why the hell were you two down there? Nasir knows the danger of those woods... " If Nasir died she was going to strangle Ofelia. She didn't get to ask anything else when Rowan came running up and held her.

Elwin sighed and shook his head. "Apparently something happened in Fireberry Forest. They ran into a Khatur, which I don't know if you know... but it takes a good few men to take one down. Even a decent size one is hard to kill. I don't know what they were doing there in the first place, but Nasir got hurt pretty badly. From the look of his abdomen he could have some broken ribs. His breathing is slow and Lorelei and my father are doing what they can..." He looked at Roshia who was shaking and glaring at Ofelia. He felt that if she did one wrong move Roshia was going to snap.

Roshia needed to sit. She moved away from Rowan and took a seat on a bench outside of Lor's lab. That pain in her abdomen came back, but she didn't want to tell Rowan or Elwin.

Lorelei came back and took the scales. She boiled them with the herbs. "He is doing as well as someone getting smashed against a cave wall twice." Lorelei said before sighing. Her father had left for the time and she took a seat. "I overheard Ofelia... I can see why Roshia is cautious of her. Girl seems like she doesn't know how to think clearly on any situation. Rowan... I think you need to take Roshia away from the village... she keeps getting stresses and now with Nasir. I am deathly afraid she is about to lose the baby. Didn't you not see her in pain again?" She asked him.

"Well it wont be an issue any more. Ofelia said shes not going to be seeing him again if she can help it. I dont know what she was thinking trying to date people before she figured herself out first. And im pretty sure Roshia just straight up wants her dead. I'll see about getting a house outside the village, but not in the city. But I doubt she'd come with willingly. She didnt exactly listen the first time I brought up moving to a new place. But I will try to convince her, i'll look at homes tomorrow as well. Might take her on a vacation, get her away from everything...I saw she was in pain, she needs to slow down. But knowing her thats not going to happen , ever..." Rowan said with a sigh. "Let us know if anything happens okay? I'm gonna go check on Roshia, could I get some of that tea you gave her earlier? It helped last time." He asked .

Lorelei sighed, being the doctor in the family was strenuous work, especially when you are only fifteen. She got up and gave him a tin of the tea."Drown her in this tea if you have to." She smiled before turning around and tending to Nasir.

"Thanks." Rowan said before walking back to Roshia's house. He didnt say anything to anyone, jst walked into the kitchen with the tin and immediately made tea. Setting it in front of Roshia. "You can be mad at me all you want, but you need to drink the tea for the baby's sake." He noticed the kid in Roshias arms as he sat the cup down. He raised an eyebrow but left it alone. Must have been Atlas son. He seemed to be helping Roshia calm down though which made him feel relieved.

He didnt know what to talk about, he knew he had to talk to Roshia about getting away for a while, but it would be very awkward to do with Elwin and Atlas in the room. "Lorelei said Nasir's doing okay despite his injuries...So lets try not to be too worried." He said quietly.

Atlas waited at the house for people to come back. Apparently there was an emergency involving Nasir. Atlas played with Forrest until they came back, Roshia was first to walk back in crying her eyes out. Atlas put Forrest down and he went to her and comforted her. Atlas didnt ask Roshia any questions about what happened, she looked shaken up enough. Elwin came back soon after. "What happened?" He asked quietly. Once he got an answer he nodded and sighed. He was late to drop Forrest off already and hoped that Ivie wouldnt mind given the circumstances. Rowan walked into the house a few minutes later, ignoring the whole group of people and stomped of to the kitchen, bringing tea back to Roshia, telling her she needed to drink it. Atlas raised an eyebrow but didnt ask. "Hey..I gotta take Forrest back to his mom so...We need to get going." He picked Forrest up from Roshia and kissed Elwins cheek. "I'll come back over later okay?" He said before walking out the door with Forrest to meet up with Ivie.

Lorelei was placing some medicine on the wound where she cut to release blood when Nasir woke up. He looked so tired. Lorelei smiled down at him. He asked her to get Ofelia... that he really needed to talk to her. She tried to tell him that she didn't want to see him, but figured it would be best just to go find her. She got their father to watch him as she took off in the direction Roshia was going

She ran for what seemed like hours before finding Ofelia. "O-Ofelia..." She gasped as she caught her breath. It took a couple minutes before she could stand up straight and breath. "Please come back, Nasir is begging to see you." She said seriously. She would snap if Ofelia played the pity me card. She was in no mood for it. She didn't care what happened out there. Her brother ended up on death's door because of it.

Ofelia had sat at the edge of the island for a good while and was going to get up and go home when Lorelei came running up to her, saying Nasir was begging to see her. She didnt want to see him. But it was her fault he ended up the way he did. So she would go to him one last time. She stood up and blew her whistle. "Ok...Just keep Roshia away from me. I'm only coming back because he asked..." She said as Fleurdon flew down from the sky and landed. Ofelia got on him and ushered Lorelei to do the same, and when she did they took off back to the village where she left Fluerdon at the entrance. She walked with Lorelei back to her place, taking a deep breath before walking through the door.

Lorelei was glad Ofelia couldn't see her face. She was like a kid in a candy store. She had decided she loved riding dragons. When they got back to her lab her father walked out. Nodding to Ofelia before walking away. "I will be around. If anything goes wrong scream. I won't be far." With that she petter the dragon, giggling, and disappeared.

Nasir heard the door open and saw Ofelia come in. He sat up, knowing full we ll he shouldn't have but he was a grown man and he could do what he wanted with his own body. "Before... you say anything. I wanted to say..." He realized breathing and talking while sitting up was a bit harder. "I'm sorry. I... didn't think you would.. have felt comfortable with me in the cave with you... you almost died... and I can't forgive myself for that." He didn't know if he was crying from the pain or because he hated himself that much.

It had been a full month since the incident in Fireberry forest where Nasir got hurt. Lorelei had put him in a medically induce coma to allow his body to heal without Nasir's stubbornness killing him. Ofelia visited every day, any chance she got a little free time she would sit with him, sometimes she read or she'd write in her books about dragons, occasionally having a chat with Lorelei or whoever else had stopped by. She was still raising the Khatur cub she had found and was taking care of Nasir's horse at the ranch as well. The Khatur cub seemed to be getting really attached to Ofelia, crying when she left as if it were her own mother. She had originally planned on just keeping it alive and setting it back to the wilds when it was old enough, but it seemed the little cub wouldnt make it if she did. So she had started making it an enclosure like the ones she made for the dragons, on a seperate island, then it could stay with her and there would be no threat of it attacking anyone. Ofelia only worried about Nasir's reaction to it, but she couldnt bring herself to just leave the cub to starve.

Ofelia had finished her morning work for the day and grabbed one of her journals, she had a new species of small dragon she was raising and needed to start a record of its growth patterns, quirks, looks, and other information. She took her hair down, jane had put it in braids in the morning so it now had soft bouncy curls to it, something Ofelia wasnt exactly used to, but Jane said it was pretty so she didnt put her hair back into her normal bun. She said goodbye to Jane and began walking to Lorelei's to sit with Nasir again.

A month had passed and gone. Roshia had grown bigger, Rowan's mother nearly fainted when she saw how big she had gotten. Then her own mother spilt the beans to his mother about it being twins. Rowan and Roshia had their hands full after coming back from their vacation. Rowan had found them a cute home just across the lake and shockingly near Daryl's home. Roshia didn't mind though, she could see Gene and still walk to the village. Her pains had stopped once things had been settled with Nasir. He was still in his coma and Lorelei said it could take months for him to wake up on his own. She was pissed at him for being so stupid in love with Ofelia, the girl who couldn't get her shit straight, but for the sake of her own children and Nasir she made an effort not to kill Ofelia every time they crossed paths.

Roshia said nothing when she saw her mother's ring on Ofelia's hand. It made her sick, but who was she to stop Nasir from loving someone. She just wished he fell in love with a nice girl... like Ivie or something. Roshia made it a daily thing to watch over Nasir. She would get there in the morning, leave so Ofelia could have her time, come back when she left, and then leave herself when she needed to go home and make supper for her husband. So today wasn't any different. Roshia had came in early and carefully shaved his five o'clock shadow. Lorelei did all the medically things and their father bathed him. She was reading one of Nasir's favorite books to him when she saw him stir. She stopped reading for a moment and watched, waiting to see if he would do it again or wake up. When he didn't move again she began reading. A couple minutes in Nasir moved his hand and grabbed her knee softly.

"Roshia... how long have... I been out?" Nasir asked groggily.

Roshia froze for a moment before she started crying. "A freaking month. Lorelei drugged you up so your body could heal without you being an idiot and hurting yourself further." She said softly.

Nasir smiled and finally opened his eyes. He squinted till they got used to the light. "Why the hell would she do that." He growled and sat up. Roshia helped him. He had been healed enough to sit and move slowly, but he wouldn't have been to that point if he wasn't in the coma.

"Oh I don't know, probably because you sat they hell up when you weren't supposed to when Ofelia came in. You should take it easy, here..." She stood up, walking over, and getting him some water before she returned and sat down.

He watched her and when she sat down he placed his hand gently on her growing belly. "You are already so big." He said softly.

Roshia blushed and smiled, "Mom said that they are twins. She said I shouldn't normally be this big yet." He looked pained and sad. She knew what he was thinking and she hated herself for it.

"You're going to be a great mother, I can't wait to meet them."

Roshia started crying, but laughing softly at the same time. "Thanks. I am going to go get the others. Let them shower you with love and stuff." She got up and kissed his cheek before walking out. She was wiping her eyes when she walked out. Ofelia was walking towards her. "He's awake. Try and not smother him too much." She said, trying to sound nice about it, but there was some bitterness mixed in.

Roshia told her parents and those in the house. Then she went home. She needed to go hunting for a bit and hoped Rowan wasn't home when she got there.

Ofelia saw Roshia walking out and immediately regretted her timing. The two barely even spoke and Ofelia did her best to stay far out of Roshia's way, knowing full well how she felt about her. Not that she could blame her for thinking the way she did. Roshia said that Nasir was awake, but had to jab her at the same time about smothering him. It was always little comments like that from her, dripping in a bitter tone. But Ofelia tried not to let it bother her and walked into Lorelei's house. "Morning sleepy head!" She said as she walked up to Nasir and kissed his forehead. "You're finally awake! How do you feel?" She said grabbing his hand and sitting next to him. He was finally awake and she could barely contain the tears threatening to fall from her eyes.


Rowan

Rowan had been at home for most of the morning, tidying up and doing lawn work. They had a small tree outside the hose that was dead and threatened to fall down if they had a bad enough storm. So he spent the morning cutting it down and hauling it away to a lumber shed. "It's still too hot to be doing this...."He sighed as he put the last bit of wood in the shed. He saw Roshia walk up and ran to meet her. "Hows he doing?" He asked when he caught his breath. He scratched the back of his neck, realizing that he had managed to get a sunburn as a result of not wearing a shirt while he worked outside.

Adrian

Adrian had arrived in town a few days earlier after deciding to move after hearing of a young woman who was conducting reasearch on new medicines involving the use of dragon scales. He was endlessly curious about it and just couldnt keep it off of his mind. He had previously lived in the kingdom, in a city where there was a school for learning the art of medicine. He started studying there when he was a few years younger and now worked as a coroner. It wasnt hard to transfer to Veritas island for work, they seemed to be lacking in people who worked in the field that Adrian did. He set out from the Inn he was staying in and walked to the place people called the village. He was surprised to find out that the woman he was going to visit was only sixteen years old. He walked there using directions he had gotten from a customer of this Lorelei girl, so he wouldnt have to knock on every door there to find her. He walked up to what he understood to be her door and knocked, stepping back a little as he waited for an answer.
