Everett J. Barnt's Story

Everett stood outside the school, lost and confused about what he should do.
"Place looks fancy..."
"...a horrid place..."
"...filled with new people..."
"...people like you..."
"...you're insane..."
"...I prefer different..."
"...insanely different..."
"...argument settled..."
He stands, mumbling to himself and seeking a human to talk to, to understand.

"Should we go in..."
"...we should..."
"...shouldn't, you mean..."
"...right the first time..."
"...lets go in then..."
He walks slowly towards the entrance, still mumbling, and walks in. Everett hears voices of others but they are nothing more than whispers. Why is no one coming to help him? He stops in the hall and sits down in the middle, thinking and hoping to find someone.

"So lonely..."
"...we're here..."
"...we don't count..."
"...we do..."
"...we should..."
"...it would be nice..."
"...what's the difference?"
Everett looks around before standing up, his legs devoid of feeling. His friends were right, they were here with him, but he needs people he can see and talk to.
"We should find the others..."
"...unless they're dead..."
"...why would they be..."
"...people like us, remember?"
Everett walks towards the voices and stops in the doorway. They were definitely people, humans, real people that he can talk to.
"That's a nice screwdriver..."
"...why am I with you..."
"...just observing."

A feeling was growing in his mind, one he knew was true. He was being ignored.
"Speak to them..."
"...what if they don't speak back..."
"...what if they kill you...."
Everett walks into the room slowly, watching the others. He stands at the furthest point away from them.
"Hello..."
"....Hi..."
"...Hey..."
"...Howdy..."
He stands and braces himself for the unexpected.

Arisato stood in the front of the room near the board by the corner to the classroom, with a blank look on his face. Him seeming as if he was made of marble, no movement coming from any point of his body, you may think he has stopped breathing. His arms crossed over his chest, hands on each elbow. You'd think he was dead...was he?
