The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 2 authors

The elders of our tribe would obviously have a tough time making their way through the rocky terrain. I was glad they sent me as the leader for this hunt, for as great as hunters my brothers were, I was the one with the more clear head, and they all knew and respected that. Despite being the one leading this pack, I never took more than I needed, giving my brothers a fair share of the kill. Despite having to reprimand the more inexperienced pups of the tribe, we would have more than enough for everyone back home.
The elders of my tribe managed to find a decent shelter with more than enough space for the lot of us, allowing us shelter from the harsh winds, thought they would never admit that part out loud. It was a clearing in the middle of the groups of trees with two separate creeks of running water. Our dens were mostly in various cluster of deep brush, our elders given the hollowed out tree trunks and other various lodging the forest of the mountains provided.
We were greeted by a midday gathering of my tribe as the came together to take part in our kill.
I however decided to allow my family eat their fill in peace as I went to the edge of the clearing to be by myself for a while, curling up into a ball, tucking my tail around me, and close my eyes for a short nap.

It wasn't long until he'd finally found the source of the scent. It was in fact female, but the wolf pouncing about playfully was one of white colored fur.
"A Light Wolf... I can't let anyone else know she's here... they'd kill her." he thought to himself.
Making sure no one had seen him leave, Akecheta moved a little further from the clearing so he could actually speak without anyone hearing.
"Female, you are in Shadow Wolf territory. Are you of the Light Clan?" He asked calmly, his voice a deep smooth tone.

Walking slowly up to the female wolf, he decided it right to at least introduce himself. His fur shifted with his movements along with the small wind moving through the trees.
"I am Akecheta of the Shadow Wolf Clan." He said as he sat down in front of her, "Who are you, and, if you won't mind my asking, why can you not leave?"

Akecheta looked down at Snowstorm, due to his height difference, and nodded.
"How long has it been since you've eaten?" He asked.

Sensing this was egging on the fact she may have though him to think her unable to provide for herself, so to make his point clear, he decided to elaborate.
"Besides, I know of a herd not far from here." He continued, "And I'd rather an outsider who only seeks food be unharmed by either side."

He quickly shut his mouth, fearing he'd said too much, not so much out of being upfront, but out pf embarrassment for he was never quite this talkative around the male wolves of his pack. He'd never admit that, at least out loud at the moment.

"I've been through enough hunts to be able to handle herds on my own, but it does help to have another with me." He replied. So first, tell me, what do you know of hunting?

Backtracking the herd of Musk Ox, Akacheta was relieved to see the herd hadn't moved. He and Snowstorm laid low to the ground as they remained hidden among the grove of rocks and snow covered brush. From there to the herd was about thirty feet, just enough for him to explain the proper techniques.
"Okay," he said softly, "This herd is somewhat tightly packed, so what we want to do is wait for the right moment. And that moment will be when one is stupid enough to move from it. We must be patient until that moment."
Akecheta then told Snowstorm how he and his herd waited until a cow of the herd made it's way to the mountain stream nearby, allowing him and his brothers to down it before it made any noise.

When Snowstorm asked him about his scar, he momentarily took his eyes off of the herd, glancing at her before he returned his eyes to the Oxen.
"I was looking for food, scouting on my own." He explained, "I happened to find a small camp where a Huskey and it's master were camping out. They had been fortunate in hunting and I was going to ask if I could take some back with me. I was a young pup back then. It started yelling at me, saying my kind killed it's parents."
He could almost hear her voice as he told the story.
"You don't understand, I have young ones in my clan to feed!" Akecheta tried to reason.
"NO!" the young female shouted, "IT DOESN'T MATTER WHO DONE IT, THEY WERE WOLVES! YOU'RE NO DIFFERENT!"
They female's yelling to humans was the equivalent to barking, raising it's owner to rush to it's aid. Despite his efforts to appear harmless, the human lashed out at Akecheta with a knife, cutting the skin of the upper lid of his left eye.
Returning to the present, he continued to speak.
"Ever since then, my scar has been a reminder that even when you don't mean harm, the simple appearance of ill intent can result in the other fearing you."

"Okay, now when we follow, move when I say move."
Right after speaking, Akecheta sprang from his hiding place and dove behind a rock. He knew his movement may have been noticed. So, taking very slow movements, he peeked out from behind the rock.
Sure enough, he noticed of the Oxen looking his direction. It was half a minute before it returned to the grassy bit it stood on. He knew the color of her fur would allow her to move more easily in contrast to his dark fur.
"Now... crawl to me slowly." he said softly.

The Ox had moved behind a wall of rocks, out of sight from the herd. It had began taking a drink... sitting on all fours. A cow... that had to be it.
"Okay. Now, when I run at it, I'm going to latch onto it's throat. You are going to latch onto the space on my left." He instructed, "Understood?"

Preparing himself, he repeated his psyching-up statement.
"You, ready?"

WOOSH!
His paws seemed to float over the rocks that covered the ground as he ran in full sprint. His eyes locked onto his target, the cow's throat. The cow's ears twitched as it's head began jerking towards the sound of the animal approaching it. However, before it even caught the color of black fur out of the corner of it's eye, it felt the sting of gigantic canine teeth inside of it's neck. But not only it's neck... it's vocal chords. This would have been the time for her to make her move, but with his mouth occupied, it would all rest on her.
