Powers: The ability to manipulate spiritual energy (to a certain extent), or spirits themselves. Piccoletta can call upon the spirits of the deceased who willingly placed their souls in her possession. If she felt ambitious enough, she could call upon spirits that did not give their souls to her but it is very dangerous for the demoness as it is very taxing on her body.
Personality: Distant (a little introverted), inquisitive, and morose. Upon first meeting, she can either be; cold, rude, obnoxious... Overall, unpredictable. Though all of this is really a front. Having been betrayed so much in the past, she is choosy and careful of who she associates herself with. Aside from that fact, Piccoletta secretly likes meeting new people, finding others to be fascinating and amusing at the same time. Being trapped in the book makes even the most introverted person enjoy a stranger's company at times.
History:As a child, Piccoletta was often confused with her twin sister, Mandoleina, because of the close resemblance they shared. The only difference was that her twin was completely superior and often bested her in everything. This ultimately resulted in their parents taking a stronger liking to Mandoleina than Piccoletta. Though Mandoleina was “perfect” in every sense and despite the fact that the girls were twins, Piccoletta was far more beautiful inside and out. Fearful for the “better” daughter’s future, the twin’s parents sold Piccoletta to a noble that was interested in her.
The noble was very kind to Piccoletta, leading her to believe that she was in a better home than before and gradually grew to trust in her “master”. Though he was very kind to her, he put Piccoletta through this strange ritual in which she would be dressed in the finest clothes of the mansion and be placed upon this pedestal where her master would observe her for hours on end. At the time, the girl did not think much of it but soon became disturbed with the meaning behind his actions. One day, while playing out in the gardens, Piccoletta overheard some servants talking.
It turns out that her master was treating her like a doll that resembled one of his late wives and intended on breaking Piccoletta as his wife had broken him. Terrified at this information, the girl fled. She managed to escape but was found soon after on a rainy day… The man who was her master brutally beat her in an alleyway of the rundown section of town and broke her right leg in such a way that she would not be able to walk properly on it again. Before they were able to reach his household, the noble’s former enemies jumped them. Her master was murdered before her eyes and she would have undergone the same fate had a mysterious man not appeared. Near death at the time, Piccoletta was given two options… Cling to life as a “soulless” being or eventually die from future wounds that would be inflicted by the world. Desperate at the time, the girl chose to live without truly considering the consequences of her decision. That fateful night, Piccoletta exchanged her human life to become a demon and live on…
The taste of untamed power flowing through her fueled Piccoletta’s anger and she sought out her family (over the course of two years), taking a scythe to all three of them. It was only after she slaughtered them when she came to her senses. Passing out due to shock, Piccoletta vaguely remembers a shadowy figure looming over her chanting some strange words… When she woke up, she would find herself in a totally different world… She has been sealed inside the book ever since and has been searching for a way to escape.
Other: Piccoletta carries around the scythe she used to destroy her family. It is rare for her to walk on her own two feet as she floats (due to the help of the spirits she collected) seeing as her right leg is dysfunctional.
