Emeline Josie and Siana Helen Michel

"We have to stay together"

a character in “What have we become?”, originally authored by Possibility, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

Name: Emeline Josie Michel

Nickname: Eme

Age: 9

Gander: Female

Race: Caucasian

height: 4'3

weight: 55 lbs

Strengths: She is a very good climber and very good at watching for little things (like watchers), even if she doesn't always communicate them well. It's not her fault.

Weaknesses: She is very small, so she can't really fight anything that well. She is also a mute and never learned to talk correctly, though she does whine and whistle from time to time.

Sexuality: She really doesn't know- doesn't talk enough to know.

Personality: No one really knows. Most of the time, she can be found my herself either throwing pens into the wall (they used to bang off the wall, but they don't do that anymore and hang in the paper she normally has as a target) or whistling. It's one of the only sounds she makes and her sister and her even have a little language made from it. She is 'home schooled', like her sister, though how much can you teach a mute child? They try to teach her, and she does listen- she is actually really smart (though no one can tell) but they get frustrated because she just sits there and listens and watches, not really taking any notes.

Mental state: She is an almost complete mute, and has been since she was two. She can't express herself, at all.

Starter weapons: A small golf club- made of steal. It's pretty strong, but it doesn't have a very long reach and she can't swing it very hard.

Iconic weapon: Some throwing knives

Iconic tool: A pair of military binoculars.

Description:
Mid-length brown hair, pale skin, and brown/hazel eyes. She also has a long scar that goes from the top of her leg to the bottom, from a tree she fell out of when she was a child (she fell on a branch and it dug deep in her skin as she fell)

Short Bio: When she was born, she only cried for a few seconds. Her parents always wondered if something was wrong- but she was a normal baby, all gurgles and tantrums, until she turned two. A few months later, she stopped saying the normal "Momma" and "Dadda" and has yet to say much of anything ever since.

Name: Siana Helen Michel

Nickname: No nicknames for her- just not her thing.

Age: 18

Gander: Female

Race: Caucasian

height: 5'6

weight: 130

Strengths: Has taken self-defense and archery class since she was a small girl. It was just a hobby until her sister came along, then it was more of a 'protect her' response.

Weaknesses: Very very protective and will sacrifice herself for her sister if need-be. Also, an Arrow in class from another student once pierced her left arm, making it weak and it still flairs in pain from time to time (they couldn't remove the arrow because of where it had lodged).

Sexuality: Straight

Personality: She is very caring and outgoing, in general, on the outside. To her sister, she is a person who gives out her heart freely just to turn around and see it get hurt. Sometimes, Siana feels like she is the only person that cares about her not-so-normal sibling, and she is very very protective of her because of that. She can be harsh at times, but that is only because she has spent a good part of her life learning how to be social from a limited group of friends and a mute.

Mental state: Even though she loves her sister dearly, sometimes it can become a stress-er for her and she will have a breakdown.

Starter weapons: Her bow and a quiver of arrows- her favorite ones.

Iconic weapon: A heavy-duty auto crossbow with a large backpack of arrows

Iconic tool: A small whistle that hangs around her neck and can produce a spectrum of keys . Her sister has managed to make her whistles loud and clear, even from a distance, but she can't for some reason. This will help her communicate.

Description:
Long brown hair, blue eyes, and pale skin that is slightly darker than her sisters. There is also an indent in her skin where the arrow fell. It's not very large but still pretty noticeable. As well as a birthmark a few shades darker than her normal skin that runs along the back of her neck and over her left arm- it even goes over the indent and stops about 10 inches above her elbow on the back of her arm.

Short Bio: For a long time, she was a 'cool' girl, and had no troubles in the world. Her family was middle class but nice, so she was well cared for, and she was an only child. Then her sister came along and it was only a year after Eme turned 2 that most of her 'friends' left her because she had a freaky sister. She formed a bond with her sibling through, after a few years she had better, real friends and a real bond that wasn't just forged through words with her sibling. They had made a language comprised of whistles, and even though Eme could very well talk if she was taught, she never did. Doctors said it was because of a problem with the language center, but Siana never believed that- her sister could communicate with her just fine, abet a little freakishly and only to her. Maybe she will never know the problem. Anyway, Siana grew up pretty fine after that- good(ish) grades in home school (she insisted because her sister was. She could have a social life elsewhere) and had an okay social life- she went to parks and other places to hangout outside of the school she didn't go to.

Another day in this unchanging town. Siana was already up and about, a wave of denim vest and jeans. She reached into the stainless steal fridge and pulled out the makings of a breakfast sandwich, the kind Eme liked. A hummed tune filled the room as she worked. Her father was already at work, but her mother only worked nights. Siana always loved that fact- her mother dedicated so much time to giving them a proper education she almost never slept. There were days Siana took over for her mother, but today wasn't one of them. No, her mother would wake up in exactly three hours, expect her children to be dressed, bathed, and ready to learn. It was the same thing, every day. Siana finished the bacon sandwich and her own bacon and eggs (on a normal platter) and left them on the counter to cool in the morning sun.

A few hops up the stairs later, she was shaking Emeline awake, who did nothing- as always- but blink her eyes and whistled a low, high, high, and low note. "Hello to you to Eme- would you like breakfast?" Siana asked, helping the child up and handing her her daily clothing- a plain white-and-pink striped t-shirt and jeans, as well as some black sneakers. Siana raced back downstairs and ate her food quickly so she could go outside before class started to practice archery.

Approximately ten minutes later Emeline was lounging on the grass, playing with a lady bug, while Siana practiced. Not every shot was dead on, but all of them hit the target in some way- though some went too far left or right. It was relaxing, practicing the flex and pull of a bow in her hands before she let it fly. She could hear the ringing sounds of children and teen's laughs from the nearby school, but it did little to dampen the calm that settled over her when she let an arrow fly. However, a few minutes in, Emeline tugged on her shirt and pointed to the door, where her mother was stumbling out. She didn't seem well, and didn't seem to be able to get words out at the rate she normally did. "Hey, mom?" Siana called, walking forward. "You don't seem so hot... I can take Eme to the school... your friend, Hally, told us we could stay there and learn for a while if you ever needed us to. She's a teacher in my grade, but Eme will be fine." Her mother nodded and turned. Hally, her mother's teaching friend, had offered the two a day of learning at the school if Siana couldn't (and today she didn't know the lesson plan and therefore could not) and their mother was sick. Today seemed like a good day to do that. Siana gripped Emeline's hand and began to walk to the main school this town had. It was right next door, so it honestly wasn't much of a walk.

There was a horrible lack of anything teacher-related and the classes seemed to be thinning out already. Emeline had Siana's hand in a horrible death-grip, but the older of the two didn't mind. Eme was scared and not used to this many people around, that's all. However, when a few seconds later Emeline dropped her hand completely and rushed into one of the classrooms, Siana groaned in irritation. She would not be chasing that child around all day. Emeline stopped right next to a boy in a cowboy hat. She began to whistle a hello, but Siana took it upon herself to not freak him out more than he normally would be, what with all the teachers missing. She clasped Emeline's hand around her own and smiled politely before turning to Emeline, whistling out a short high and a short low note, then another high short note, then a short middle and then high note. She nodded and whistled 'sorry' to the male (Short middle, high, low notes).

"She means she is sorry if she scared you. We don't get out all that horribly much, to tell the truth, and she is so very used to speaking in our language. She knows sign language too, but we never use it. Do you know sign language? She can speak to you if you can." Siana said with a smile. "Oh yes, this is Emeline and I'm Siana. Nice to meet you" She held out a hand towards the man while still holding her sister with the other. Eme whistled another hello, and this time Siana was there to translate. "She says hello"

Sage was just about to head out of the door when a rather young looking girl curst through the door and right up to him. It was rather strange seeing as he had never seen this girl before, it got even stranger when the younger girl whistled at her. Was she one of those loli girls that liked older men? He shook his head a few times and mentally punched himself for thinking of such a thing, whatever the case may be he started to speak to the girl but was cut off from an older girl, one closer to his age came in and took the younger girls hand. It was safe to guess this older girl was her sister seeing they looked similar. He listened to her speaking and chuckled a bit. “Well I don’t know much, I know a few basics like the alphabet but tats thanks to a chart I got in school a few years back”

He reached up adjusting his hat slightly as the girl introduced her sister and herself; he chuckled slightly at her reaching out wrapping a strong farmers hand around hers and shook it slightly. His palms where tough and slightly dry but still held tenderness in how he held her hand. He grins shaking her hand pulling his free. He bends his knees dropping into a crouch to be on eye level with the younger girl. He reaches out with his hand placing it on the top of her head rubbing her hair slightly. “Well I'm Sage, I’m not the best in the class but I can show you two around a bit if’n ya like” without noticing he let his ‘farmer accent’ slip out making him sound like a Texan slightly. “Seein as how the teachers are all sick, class is a bust, I can’t go home till class is out or Pa would work the clothes off my back thinkin I skipped”
Further in the town adults started to pass out while they were driving crashing into other cars, students on the streets and building. In a strange moment of silence a troop of 5 choppers flew over the school rather low, blowing out a few windows in the top floors. People all over the world started to pass out there they stood leaving what they were doing often causing deaths or at least great injury. Whatever was going on wasn’t just happening in this little town and no one knew why. Sage looked up as the choppers flew over and thought to himself, “they are really low, what is going on?” hearing the windows on the oppose side of the room give out Sage moved between the girls and the windows he was near catching a pane of glass to the back. He groans and falls to one knee doing his best to keep the glass from flying at the two girls and jumps up yelling out of the empty window. “THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING!” His question was answered quickly via a number of fire balls in the outskirts of town as the choppers hit the ground.

Emeline had clinched her hand around her sisters before Siana had even noted the sound of the choppers, but at the time she figured it was simply a response to talking to another, as she never really got out. She was, of course, proved horribly wrong when she was in the middle of "Well I know my way around the school already, but if you know how to hunt I have a spare bow- it would be fun" when the choppers flew by and Sage got angry. At that point she hefted a shivering Eme onto her back. She was heavy, but Siana was used to it. When the windows fell and Sage jumped in front of them, Siana turned and held Eme to her chest like she was a newborn baby.

Siana dropped Eme back to the ground after a while, but she still held onto the child for dear life. Emeline whistled a high long note and a series of notes, and Siana nodded and turned to Sage. "Hey, if on our way back we don't get hit by another chopper, we should go hunting some time. I can't with Emeline normally, but if two people were there to watch her, I'm sure it'd be fine" Siana said smiled before going after Eme, who had already ran over to the door. Outside, there were throngs of scared looking people running about. She didn't know where they were going- a bunker or closet perhaps? Didn't matter to Siana, so she grabbed her sister and placed her on her back, as if she were giving her a piggy back ride. Emeline was heavy, but Siana was more than used to it as she held her like this at least once a day. Siana carefully avoided the people until she got to the front door of the building and flicked it open. Outside, it was fairly calm, save for a few people who had come from the building and one car that had crashed into a tree. Siana didn't stop to look at what was inside- she didn't need Emeline scared more than she was. Siana could see the smoke of the remains of the choppers rising up, and she inwardly grimaced.

Once Siana had gotten them into the yard, she rolled Emeline off of her back and grabbed up her bow and arrows. The last thing she wanted in the world was for them to get damaged. The pair both walked inside and Siana pointed to Emeline's door. The smaller girl nodded and walked over to it and inside it. It had no windows because they had removed them when kids along the street would bully Eme. Siana, bow still in hand simply because she had pretty much forgotten she was carrying it, walked to her mother's room. Her mother didn't look much better and looked asleep, so Siana shut the door and locked it with the key above the door frame- Emeline had been known to wake her mother from her rest for truly trivial things, so Siana started to make a point out of locking that door when her mother was sleeping. Her mom could open it from the inside when she was ready.

Siana stepped into her sister's room and propped the bow and the arrows against the bed before sitting on the floor with her sister. Emeline was stacking block after block of Lego's into what looked like the base of a house of some sort.

"Hey, want my help?" Siana asked, and when she received a nod in return, she began to pick up blocks from around the room and bring them over to Emeline. She wanted her sister to forget the whole chopper thing because that might cause problems later on, and truthfully Siana wanted to forget as well.

Standing back up and dusting the glass of his most likely bruised back he groans whipping a blood from his back. He slowly shook his head at his hand as the girl spoke. Hiding the red from the younger girl he nodded to the older one. “Could be fun” he walked to the door watching the girls leave down the hall, the disciplinary started darting down the halls checking on room after room. She would stop at Sages side and nearly have a heart attack and pulled him into a closet filled with the schools access medical supplies. There wasn’t much she could do other then pick the shards of glass out of the 4 inch long gash on his back spread on a load of Neosporin and wrap his body with a load of ace bandages holding gauze on the wound as tight as possible.

Being child hood friends the girl was clearly panicking over the wound of her dear friend but soon soothed by a ruffling of the hair and a soft hug. Sage stood up and starched his back slightly and looked to the disciplinary and spoke in his country boy accent. “Hey, there were two girls here; they kinda panicked a bit when the choppers fell. They headed off in the direction of the smoke from those things, imam go see if I can find them, make sure they are safe and what not, you got things here?” she gave him a nod and he was off, he hardly had to change his path as he walked people scattered at the look on his face. Out of the door he followed the path he had seen the girls walk while glancing out of the small window in the supply closet.

Luckily the girls lived close, he had often heard younger kids mocking the mute girl as he walked home and strolled up to the door laying three solid knocks on the wooden door. “Hey, you two okay in there, its sage, just wanted to make sure things where okay here before I started round town to see if there’s any adults still well enough to go check out those crashes! In his mind millions of ideas ran through his head of what could be happening, there were plenty of things he wanted to do, most of them involved running home and dragging his father out of the fields to handle this stuff. Yet he knew his father would have given him a radio and a flash light and sent him to check door to door for able bodied folk to go and try and help.

So far, Siana and Emeline had created half a tower. It was leaning slightly to the left, but they kept building anyway. When the pair heard the door knocks, Siana told her sister to continue building the tower before she walked over and opened it. It was Sage, so Siana opened the door completely as he spoke.

"We're fine in here- my mom is sleeping, but I can wake her up if you like, see if she's able to help. Me and Eme were just building a tower of Legos when you came over," she said, but her words were followed by a large crash from Emeline's room. "Well, we were building a tower, but I guess we will be starting over again" she chuckled the words before turning towards the door to Eme's room. "Hey, you okay in there?" she asked, and when she heard a short note in answer, she smiled as she turned back to the door. "Yea, she's fine. Well, if you find anybody, don't hesitate to come and find us so we can help too" she said lightheartedly. Emeline chose that moment to walk from her room and right to Siana's side, whistling out her high, middle, and low notes so they formed a hello. Not that Sage would know that.

"She says hello again" Siana said simply as she wrapped her arm around her sister protectively. "Oh, Sage? Before you go, could you make sure the people in that car over there.... aren't... dead? I can't bring myself to go over myself" she looked down as she said the words, suddenly very sad she couldn't muster the courage to look herself. "I just really don't want Emeline to go wondering off and seeing that" she added as she gestured to the girl beside her, who was smiling lightly and looking out at the street.
