Dr. James waited until Dr. Nahoko and Peri had been gone for several moments before Dr. James began to speak again. The man's arrival had taken him by surprise, and he needed to be sure no one was listening in. The consequences would be dire.

"I think it would be best to move as soon as possible. The longer we are here, the more people will be suspicious of the time I spend with you two. It also means a larger risk. How soon do you think it will take for you and Peri to be ready?"

Peri slipped quietly down the hall, very conscious of the scientist at her back. When he was around, she always felt dirtied, and this case was no exception. She headed to Dr. Nahoko's lab without hesitation. She knew the way by heart, since he always seemed to call on her when given the chance. When they arrived, she tugged open the door, not bothering to hold it for the man following her. He made no comment, just gestured for her to sit in his, what she liked to call, 'electric chair'. It didn't electrify anyone, but she hated it just the same. She obeyed without question, and Dr. Nahoko strapped her arms and legs to the chair almost immediately.

"Let's begin," he said with a grin.

Fintan nodded in agreement and turn to look at him "I'm not sure...." to be honest his worry grew every moment he thought about Pero with Dr.Nahoko. But he hoped that Per would be able to withstand the tests.

Dr. James could tell Fintan was feeling anxious for Peri, but it was for her sake he could not allow distractions. They needed to get their plan underway if they were going to escape soon and prevent a long future imprisoned behind these bars.

"Fintan," he said in a low voice, "Concentrate. If we're going to get out of here quickly, we need to plan carefully. How long should it take to be ready?"

Peri shuddered as Dr. Nahoko stepped back to his station behind his control panel. She wondered how long it would take her to fold this time. As per usual, Dr. Nahoko would ask her to unfurl her wings. When she refused and sat motionlessly in the chair, he would come and put a helmet on her that send shoots of pains directly into her neural pattern. She usually gave in pretty quickly after that, but she had a new resolve in her this time. Though she should be compliant to avoid suspicion, she found she didn't want to anymore.

"Now," Dr. Nahoko said, "Let out your wings." Peri didn't say a word. Instead, she picked a spot on the floor in front of her and stared at it, hard. Dr. Nahoko sighed, used to this much defiance and, like usual, fixed the helmet to her head.

"I'll give you one last chance," he warned. Peri continued to stare at that spot, a little black mark on the white tiles. She knew the moment her turned the dial, because it sent a painful shock to her brain. She didn't cry out, didn't move, merely stared at the spot. Dr. Nahoko cranked up the strength, but not by much. He merely wanted her to comply, not be in excruciating pain. Peri took a deep breath and let it out in a shaky but steady stream, not removing her eyes from that spot. He turned it up once more, warranting an almost-whimper from Peri that had her biting her lip to stay quiet.

"Why are you being so stubborn today?" Dr. Nahoko asked with impatience. He cranked it up another notch, but Peri didn't budge. She was in a cold sweat now, and her tears were leaking involuntarily from the pain. Her resistance incited anger in Dr. Nahoko, and he turned the dial up two marks this time. Peri felt like her head would explode, but she continued to stare at the spot, the little black mark going fuzzy in her vision. She still refused to cry out, but she couldn't help but move now, trying to clutch her aching head. One last shot of pain hit her all at once, and the black spot grew, engulfing her vision as she slumped forward. Her last thought before she went unconscious was how proud she was not to have folded or screamed, for once.

Fintan jumped at the sound of Dr.James voice but nodded " For me I'm ready anytime, and if Peri's up to it we can go whenever you two are ready...." Fintan took a deep breath and sighed. "So what are we going to do when we're out anyway? We don't have any money and all Peri and I have done all our lives is train.......how are we supppose to get money?"

Dr. James nodded in thought as he took in Fintan's question. In hindsight, he should have but hadn't really thought much about what they would do once they escaped. Obviously, they would have to lay low for a while. He had bank accounts he could dip into, accounts he'd kept hidden away from the government, never quite fully trusting them with all of his information. He knew they would have to come up with knew ideas, most likely leave the country, but really, he felt getting out in the first place was too dangerous to be thinking about much else at the moment.

"I suppose we will figure it out when we get out," he replied, "Hiding away shouldn't be too hard. that's what we'll do at first. As for the rest, I'm sure what you've learned can help you in something. We'll figure that out as we go along."

Fintan nodded and sighed. He prefered if eveything was planned ot, but I guess life was like that. He turned to face the doctor. "I'm going to go wait for Peri in her room...come and see me if you have things to discuss." and with that he left, looking at the walls details more then he ever had before. He slowly went to Peri's room and knocked first to see in anyone or anything was inside.

Dr. James watched Fintan go before turning back to his work. He really didn't have much to do, but he decided that if he was going to stay on the higher-ups good side long enough to allow Peri and Fintan to escape, he would have to turn in some form of research, no matter how fake it was. He could use what he already had found before changing his mind, but it would take some effort to work around such minimal and outdated information. No matter. He would get it done as quickly as possible.

Dr. Nahoko slammed his fist on the deck beside his control panel. Peri's slumped form was still in the chair, and for a moment, he considered leaving the shocks on a punishment, but he didn't want his precious subject to sigh to soon. With a hiss, he turned them off and pushed the call button for some help. A burly guard walked in, and Dr. Nahoko gestured to Peri with a grimace.

"Take her back to her room," he ordered, turning away before the guard even took his first step. He would find her later, after he came up with a new way to force her obedience. The guard did as he was told and left the room carrying Peri's slumped form. He hurried back to the subjects quarters, not exactly knowing where Peri's room was, but when he got to the hallway, he saw a boy subject standing outside.

"What are you doing?" the guard asked with a gruff tone, but he glanced at Peri and back at the boy with a frown. "Never mind. Tell me which room is this girl's."

Fintan looked at Peri then at the guard and pointed to the room infront of him, he held it open to allow the guard to enter inside. He watched as he layed Peri onto the bed, and then he went back to his room.

The guard entered the room and laid Peri on the bed. Without a second glance, he left the room, not even stopping to close the door all the way. Peri, still deep in her own subconscious, barely disturbed. her relocation had nothing to pull her out of her state.

Fintan watched him leave and then looked at Peri. He sighed slightly and sat beside the bed, gently brushing the hair out of her face and he smiled slightly. He turned to the side slightly and took off his bandages in his left eye, reviling burning skin and plenty of scaring and his eye permanently closed. He took out some fresh bandages out from his pocket, and recovered his eye, putting the old bandages in his pocket.
