Terra Fizz

"Strength is the measure most care about. Should we not care more for compassion?"

a character in “World of Chrome”, as played by mistmantle

Description

Name: Terra A. Fizz

Gender: Female

Age: 20

Race: Gnome

Class: Wishes to be a warrior. She's training to be a Cleric.

Personality: Terra gets herself into trouble a LOT by her curiosity and adventurous attitude. She often daydreams getting her in trouble when she is training to be a Cleric. Terra is over curious. She will do anything from pretending to sword fight with a quill to humming a tune over and over and driving her mentors crazy. She is viewed annoying by most, but she is carefree, so she doesn't mind. Terra was chosen to train for a Cleric because of her deep care for others and her kindness. Although she can't keep focused, she has a heart of gold. But, Terra wishes to be a warrior because she has a fighting spirit and wishes to explore and go on adventures.

Skills: Terra, believe it of not, is actually good at fighting. She is pretty athletic so she can keep up with a competitor. Also, her active imagination helps her catch things others can't.

Likes/Dislikes: Terra loves sweets. Sugar isn't something she needs, but she certainly enjoys it. But, she hates her name. Terra Fizz? What sort of name is that?

Physical description: Terra is short to humans, but pretty tall for normal gnomes. She is skinny and quite fit, so she has an athletic look to her. Terra has red hair and pointy ears. She has grey eyes and usually has a big smile. Terra usually has dirt on her skin or stains on her clothes by the time the day is done. Terra usually goes barefoot and it annoys her father to high heavens.

Background/History: When Terra was born, her father had high hopes of having a son. Her father was disappointed to realize he had a daughter. Her mother, on the other hand, was ecstatic. But, Terra was pressured often to live up to her parent's standards. Terra never wished to meet these demands because she wanted to plan her own life. When Terra was five, her mother, Astrid Q. Fizz, died, leaving Terra to her father, Em. When Em saw Terra's compassion towards people after her mother's death, Em decided to put Terra in Cleric training, which Terra did not wish to do. Terra did it to please her father, but never got anywhere. When Terra was ten, her father harshly yelled at her, causing her to run away. Terra was quickly found, but demanded to be taken out of Cleric training. She wanted to go her own way with her life. Em agreed, but when she was seventeen, he placed her back in Cleric training. He did this because she was getting ideas of leaving and exploring, which he didn't want. If she ever brought up the fact she was an adult and was legally free, Em would tell her she was being a disgrace to her mother by quitting, which was the only way to get Terra to stay. Terra the Gnome just wants to be free.

It had been 3:07 in the morning when Terra Fizz awoke to a strange sound in the morning. Terra was used to all the sounds her small village made. In the night, it was almost silent. Yet, the noise had been right outside her door. Her short and fat father slept soundly and didn't stir at the sound. Terra, overwhelmed by curiosity, tiptoed out of her bedroom, carrying a metal rod she had screwed off of her bed post for protection. But only a letter sat by the mail slot in the door. She didn't usually get mail and most certainly not at three in the morning. She first assumed it was for her father, but opened it anyway. Inside, she found it addressed to her. But, the handwriting was difficult to understand. The words that stood out were "life or death matter". She was supposed to go somewhere and it was obviously urgent.

So, that is how she ended up here. Terra didn't belong in a bar, yet she wasn't afraid. She was just... curious. She tiptoed around the men who were hardly sober. She watched as fights broke out and men were banished from the bar. Everything here was completely foreign. She wondered if returning to her father would be the smartest thing to do, but she had escaped and come so far. She sighed, hopelessly about to turn for the door. But then she noticed a figure in a white hood watching her. It was surrounded by lots of people, which made her a bit nervous. Most of them could sit on her and kill her, being so small. But, she seemed to feel welcomed by the figure. So, curiosity defeating caution once again, she walked to the booth.

Sliding in the enormous booth, she stared into the eyes of the stranger who didn't feel too strange and ignored the others. She didn't say a word, and Terra desperately wanted to appear strong and... non naive.

"What's their best drink?" she asked, trying to sound tough. The woman had an expression on his face revealing he was amused, but not in much of a joking mood.

"Water," she said, dryly. Terra crossed her arms and leaned back in her chair. "Do you know why you're here?" she asked. Terra shrugged.

"I got a creepy letter telling me to be here at this time. And my guess is that was your doing." The man nodded, almost asking her with her expressions to tell him more. "But why I'm here... what I'm here for, I don't know."

"What's your name, kid?"

"I'm Terra Fizz," she said. The woman nodded.

"Would you conciser yourself one to run away from danger?"

"No, ma'am."

The woman smiled for the first time since their discussion. Terra wasn't sure she liked her smile now that she had seen it. It was a tad bit creepy.

"Then stay with me, Terra."
